LaRonn Katchia

LaRonn Katchia is a Warm Springs/Wasco/Paiute tribal member of the Confederated tribes of Warm Springs and is currently pursuing a passionate filmmaking career in Pawhuska, OK. LaRonn grew up on the Warm Springs reservation and has lived there for 18 years of his life transitioning to the city of Portland for film school. His love and passion for film reside from the commonly mistreated portrayal of indigenous peoples in Hollywood films today. "My mission is to change the indigenous stereotypes of film and to represent us through an authentic lens. The indigenous perspective is what's missing in Hollywood today and needs to be brought to light. There are too many untouched original stories waiting to be filmed, and that being filmed by an indigenous director."

Some of LaRonn's achievements include: Best film & best cinematography for his short film Missing Indigenous in the Portland 48hour film festival. The film (highlighting the epidemic of missing and murdered indigenous women) went on to premiere at Filmapalooza in Paris, France bringing international awareness to the epidemic. The film has been screened nationwide.

LaRonn has collaborated with a variety of established artists on 40+ music videos (some with over 2 million views) and appeared in feature films such as Ted 2 and The Secret in their eyes.

Today, LaRonn works with acclaimed photographer/filmmaker Ryan Redcorn and his ad agency Buffalo nickel creative in Pawhuska, OK. He is working on a behind-the-scenes segment for Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi's Reservation Dogs and the first indigenous episode of PBS's Roadtrip Nation.
