Six new horror movies already released at home this past Tuesday, and they’re being joined by six more today including the theatrical release of hotly anticipated sequel M3GAN 2.0.

For this writer, rock climbing is already a terrifying concept. My terrible hand-eye coordination, paired with my fear of falling, makes that particular outdoor activity a living nightmare. So imagine how my anxiety spiked when I watched the trailer for Brendan Devane’s new film, The Sound. Written, directed, and produced by Devane, this new horror thriller definitely isn’t for those afraid of heights…

It’s maybe a little surprising that there isn’t actually that many horror movies centered around the legend of Bigfoot. The most well known is perhaps the 1972 cult fake documentary horror The Legend of Boggy Creek, which is much more entertaining than you might expect. The Blair Witch Project director Eduardo Sanchez created my favourite Bigfoot film with the found-footage-style movie Exists in 2014. So I am always happy to see a new movie based on the legendary ‘creature’.

In Monstrous we see a young woman, Sylvia (Anna Shields – who also wrote the movie) searching for her friend who has gone missing in an area that is known for its Bigfoot sightings. Her search though leads her to find things other than the monster.

There have been more and more of these Sasquatch horror films popping up recently - Hoax and Exists (always one word titles!). A young woman goes searching for answers after her friend mysteriously vanishes in Whitehall, NY. Where she discovers something truly sinister hiding in the woods. Why do they keep repeating the "Bigfoot can't be real!? No way!" plot when that's such a been there, done that aspect utilized so many times before. Monstrous stars Anna Shields, Rachel Finninger, Grant Schumacher, Hannah McKechnie, Catharine Daddario, Dylan Grunn, Peter Stray, and Rick Montgomery Jr. Nothing much to see here, move along folks...
