Image
Exclusive: Netflix is to tell the miracle story of the four children who survived 40 days in the Colombian jungle via a feature doc from Oscar-winner Orlando Von Einsiedel, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine Documentaries, and Grain Media.

The streamer has confirmed The Lost Children, which will air next month. The doc brings together those who were closely involved with the incredible, headline-grabbing story – the Colombian Army, Indigenous volunteer rescuers and the children’s family.

After a small plane crashed last year in the remote Amazonian jungle, killing all adults on board, the only survivors were four indigenous children aged between 11 months and 13 years old. The Mucutuy siblings were forced to rely on every survival instinct they had and somehow survived for 40 days before being rescued.

The doc has been in the works for a little while and von Einsiedel, who won an Oscar for The White Helmets and was nommed for Virunga,...

Univision Moderator Says Kamala Harris Did Not Use A Teleprompter At Town Hall, Pushing Back On Claims By Right-Wing Figures
Image
The moderator of Thursday night’s Univision town hall with Kamala Harris is pushing back on claims that the Democratic presidential candidate used a Teleprompter at the event.

Figures such as Sean Hannity and Bill Ackman have advanced the claim, even though the Teleprompter text was written in Spanish.

Enrique Acevedo, the moderator, wrote on X on Thursday evening, “The prompter displayed my introduction (in Spanish) and then it switched to a timer. Any claim to the contrary is simply untrue.”

Daniel Coronell, president of Univision News, also posted, “The teleprompter that displays a text written in Spanish was a support element for the town hall moderator.”

Kamala Harris’s Univision town hall will continue as scheduled, with the event planned for Thursday. Both town halls will air at 10 p.m. Et.

Daniel Coronell, president of Noticias Univision, said in a statement, “The health and safety of everyone involved in this event is the highest priority.”

Trump and Harris to Appear at Separate Univision Town Halls With Latino Voters
Image
Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have no plans to debate again, but they will appear at separate town halls with Latino voters on Univision next month.

The Spanish-language network announced Tuesday that Trump will answer questions on Oct. 8 in Miami. Harris will participate in a similar town hall with undecided Latinos on Oct. 10 in Las Vegas.

Harris challenged Trump to meet again face-to-face after their ABC debate on Sept. 10. Over the weekend, Harris accepted an offer to debate on CNN on Oct. 23. But the former president — who had challenged Harris last month to three debates — declined, saying it’s “too late.”

The Univision events will be broadcast with Spanish translation. They will also be available in English on the network’s YouTube channel.

Enrique Acevedo will moderate both events. Univision said the topics will include the economy, jobs, healthcare, immigration and foreign policy.

Latinos make up 14.7% of eligible voters nationwide,...

Jorge Ramos to Exit Univision at End of Year
Image
In a seismic shift for Spanish-language TV news in America, Univision anchor Jorge Ramos is leaving the network after a 40-year tenure.

TelevisaUnivision said that Ramos and Univision News both agreed not to renew his contract, which is soon to expire. He will step down as co-anchor of Noticiero Univision at the end of 2024, after the U.S. Presidential Election.

Ramos has been the anchor or co-anchor of Noticiero Univision, which is the most-watched Spanish-language evening news broadcast in America, for 38 years, a tenure that began in 1986. He was the face of Univision’s news division for decades, drawing comparisons to Walter Cronkite for his length of tenure and the trust he had with viewers.

However, as he himself noted in a 2021 column, the TV landscape of 1986 bears little resemblance to that of the present day.

“I started at a time when the big network’s TV anchors – Peter Jennings,...

Ciro Guerra Files $1 Million Defamation Lawsuit; Volcanicas Presents New Testimonies, Evidence
Image
Volcanicas, the Latin American feminist journal ordered by a Bogota judge on May 4 to rectify its damning sexual harassment and abuse allegations towards Oscar-nominated Colombian filmmaker Ciro Guerra, has updated its reporting with more detail in the original testimonies.

The outlet has also gathered new testimonies from more women and witnesses, including the therapist of the woman who accuses Guerra of abuse.

The revised May 12 report also includes alleged evidence of Guerra’s presence in the places mentioned in the report, as well as new screenshots, among them a conversation with Uber about one case in New York where the driver allegedly kicked the director out of his car after witnessing the harassment of one woman. The driver has not come forward, however.

Volcanicas has also indicated that they consulted with Daniel Coronell, a prominent Colombian journalist and president of news for U.S. Hispanic media giant Univision, who also edited the report,...
