A Utah based actor who appeared in the feature film "Jewtah". He spent ten years as a Chicago theatre actor and received a Jeff nomination for his portrayal of (Dragan Milencevic) in TimeLine Theatre company's "Tesla's Letters" directed by Nick Bowling. Other Chicago credits include Chicago Shakespeare Theatre's productions of "Macbeth" and "Richard III" directed by Barbara Gaines, and "Twelfth Night" directed by Josie Rourke (Jeff Nomination for Best Production). He played (Ross) in First Folio's production of "Macbeth" directed by Nick Sandys and was also in "The Marriage of Figaro" at Remy Bumppo Theatre Company directed by Jonathan Berry. He is a member of Chicago's Organic Theater Company where he was in the original Organic productions of Herman Melville's "Bartleby", Mark Twain's "$30,000 Bequest", and Joseph Conrad's "The Secret Agent" all directed and adapted by Alexander Gelman. Joel has worked locally at Pioneer Theatre Company in their production of Cyrano De Bergerac. He is an ensemble member of the UK formed theatre company, Riot Act, and starred in their US debut adaptation of Ivanov, "Poor Bastard" . Other Utah credits include (Petruchio) in "The Taming of the Shrew", (Sir Toby Belch) in "Twelfth Night", (Guildenstern) in "Hamlet", Adam in "The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shakspre (abridged)", and Snug the Joiner in "A Midsummer Night's Dream", all with Salt Lake Shakespeare directed by Hugh Hansen. Utah Television credits include 3.2 percent and a commercial for the Ultimate Combat Experience. He has done voice over work for Missouri tourism in the Chicago market as well as some commercials for Blackberry, Service Magic, and Luna carpet. He is a certified Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors. He holds a BFA from the University of Utah, an MFA from Northern Illinois University, and has also studied at the Moscow Art Theatre School in Moscow, Russia.
