Lauren Marsden is an award-winning, Canadian filmmaker and media artist of Trinidadian and European descent based in Vancouver, BC. As a storyteller, she focuses on narrative and experimental works that revolve around gender, Caribbean identity, and the human impact on the land. Her 2022 short film "Tabanca" has screened at 30 festivals around the world, including at BFI Flare London, Inside Out Toronto, and the Short Shorts Film Festival in Japan.
With two decades of media arts experience under her belt, her creative work has been presented by the British Film Institute, Pacific Cinematheque, the Koffler Centre of the Arts, the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival, New Media Gallery, Antimatter Film Festival, Cineworks, and SFMOMA. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the California College of the Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Victoria.
