Rick Riordan has been a huge part of Young Adult fantasy since releasing Percy Jackson & the Olympians in 2005. He continues to captivate readers of all ages with Percy's adventures and struggles to find where he belongs. In 2023, Disney+ released the Percy Jackson television series that sparked the love for Riordan's characters all over again.
While fans eagerly await season 2, Riordan spoke with Screen Rant about the gap between seasons 2 and 3. With one comment, he gave fans hope that we'll see season 3 much sooner after season 2. We've been waiting almost two years to see Percy's journey continue. With the season 2 release coming up in December 2025 and production having started for season 3 in July 2025, the shorter wait seems promising.

Walker Scobell isn’t the only one going through big changes in Season 2 of Percy Jackson & the Olympians. The second season of the Disney+ series based on Rick Riordan’s popular book series is expanding its perspectives for Percy’s quest to save his best friend, and Leah Sava Jeffries’ Annabeth is getting a chance to shine.
At Collider’s Sdcc studio with her co-stars, Jeffries revealed that Annabeth’s Season 2 journey greatly mirrors her own changes as an actor, coming into the industry with more confidence. In Season 1, Annabeth is skeptical of Percy, having lost her friend Thalia (Tamara Smart) at a young age when she arrived at Camp Half-Blood. Now, however, after having survived a nearly deadly quest to retrieve Zeus’s master bolt, she and Percy are on more equal footing and more open with each other — something Jeffries told Perri Nemiroff she really relates to:

It takes a lot to play a demigod on screen in Percy Jackson & the Olympians, Disney+’s hit series based on Rick Riordan’s book series of the same name. But it’s arguably harder to get into the mindset of a cyclops, the challenge faced by Daniel Diemer, the newest addition to the young adult cast of the series, which returns for Season 2 this December.
Diemer stars as Tyson, Percy’s (Walker Scobell) half-brother and new addition to the Camp Half-Blood team who just so happens to be a cyclops. With the mind of a child, Tyson is initially a hindrance to Percy’s quest to rescue Grover (Aryan Simhadri) from the clutches of the much larger and more infamous cyclops Polyphemus, though he eventually grows to love his half-brother, a fan-favorite character whose appearance was highly discussed ahead of the Season 2 trailer released yesterday.
So just how does becoming a cyclops work?...

Walker Scobell isn’t the only one going on a quest in Season 2 of Percy Jackson & the Olympians. With his best friend Grover (Aryan Simhadri) kidnapped by Polyphemus and Camp Half-Blood’s magical protections at risk, Percy’s going to need back up — and that comes in the form of the inimitable Clarisse La Rue (Dior Goodjohn), a daughter of Ares chosen by the Oracle to rescue the camp and everyone in it.

"He's such a big part of the story in season 2," Riordan said. "Daniel Diemer, who plays Tyson, the Cyclops half-brother of Percy, he's just so, so perfect."
"I don't know that I had a visual image for what Tyson would look like in the season, but now, it's definitely Daniel Diemer because he embodies the character," Riordan continued. "He's got this fantastic mix of sweetness and vulnerability, but he's also this really big guy, and you can see that he's got a lot of strength. He makes you fall in love with Tyson." With the arrival of the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians this December, a lot of things will be different. One of them will be that Walker Scobell's Percy Jackson is no longer struggling with his identity so much. The demigod son of Poseidon has now entered the big leagues of Greek mythology. Season 2 will explore and adapt Sea of Monsters — the second book in the beloved book series written by Rick Riordan. The Disney+ series has been praised for being true to the source material, and the coming season looks poised to continue that trend. With that in mind, Season 2 will include the iconic Sirens scene from Sea of Monsters, a scene that was not captured in the 2013 film adaptation. Scobell has revealed how much pressure he is under regarding adapting that scene.

The cast and creators of Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 have promised that Percy's hero's journey will be even bigger and more fantastical this time around. While the early '10s film adaptations of Rick Riordan's beloved Percy Jackson books were ... middling, to say the least, the Disney+ series adaptation has proven to be a massive, more book-accurate hit.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 will, therefore, be more terrifying, more monstrous, and more epic, just as the second book in the first Percy Jackson series is. As executive producer Craig Silverstein told Entertainment Weekly, "They sail off the map, straight into the Sea of Monsters, which doesn't exist. We had to create it at all. We had to make it even bigger."

The first season followed Percy’s first adventure in The Lightning Thief. Now, season two will take on The Sea of Monsters, the second book in Rick Riordan’s famous series. The story will see Percy return to Camp Half-Blood and soon set out on a dangerous mission across the Sea of Monsters, also known as the Bermuda Triangle.

The San Diego Comic-Con lineup of films and television panels may never return to its pre-Covid level, but the 2025 schedule has enough of both to keep Sdcc attendees hopping between Hall H, Ballroom 20, and the Indigo Ballroom. TV panels once again outnumber movie panels, with the casts from series including Peacemaker, Outlander (the original and its prequel), Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Resident Alien, Revival, Gen V, Ghosts, and Abbott Elementary making their way to downtown San Diego for the sold-out pop culture convention.
The Anne Rice Universe will be represented by Interview with the Vampire and Talamasca. Plus, the stars of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Upload, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, Alien: Earth, Dexter: Resurrection, Spartacus: House of Ashur, and Paradise are scheduled to attend the 2025 Sdcc.
For animation fans, scheduled panels include Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons,...

San Diego Comic-Con is rolling out its schedule for the 2025 convention this week, which runs from July 24–27. It will likely be a quieter convention this year, since neither Marvel Studios nor DC Studios are planning a major panel covering their upcoming projects. But for the first time in its history, “Star Wars” creator George Lucas will appear in person at the largest annual fan gathering in North America, to give a first look at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which is expected to open in Los Angeles in 2026. He’ll be joined in Hall H by director Guillermo del Toro, visual designer Doug Chiang and moderator Queen Latifah.
“We are beyond thrilled to welcome George Lucas to Comic-Con for the very first time,” said Comic-Con’s chief of communications and strategy David Glanzer in a statement. “Nearly five decades ago, ‘Star Wars’ made one of its earliest public appearances at our convention,...
