Wonder Woman Redefines Her Origin with 3 Simple Words
Image
As Wonder Woman faces the might of the US military and the ruthless former hero Sargent Steel, a flashback to an unseen moment from her origin defines the core of who she is as a hero. Facing a threat like none she's faced before, Diana is fighting for the Amazons' place in the world and her own sense of honor - and this issue reveals how core to her life that honor has been.

In a preview of Tom King, Daniel Sampere, Tomeu Morey, and Clayton Cowles' Wonder Woman #2, Wonder Woman faces her longtime love interest Steve Trevor on the battlefield. At the same time, the narrative skips back to the contest that decided which Amazon would venture out into the outside world - a contest the young Diana won, changing her life forever.

In Wonder Woman #2's dual opening, Diana is offered mercy twice - Steve Trevor doesn't believe...

Chris Evans Ponders Return To Stage; Chukwudi Iwuji On Landing ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 3’ Gig As Marvel Stars Make Nycc Appearance During Actors Strike
Image
Don’t say the ‘M’ word.

While New York Comic-Con attendees got the marvel of Captain America star Chris Evans and Guardians of the Galaxy gang Karen Gillan, Chukwudi Iwuji, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn and Pom Klementieff, all followed in the careful footsteps of other actors at New York Comic-Con this week, read Ewan McGregor and David Tennant, in being largely tight-lipped about struck companies or work. The actors strike is now in its 93rd day.

Instead, Evans discussed his dog, Dodger, his love for both Halloween and Christmas and a desire to return to Broadway.

“I’m looking (for a play),” Evans told the crowd. “I’d love to actually try and find something next year, but it’s tough because you find something that you are kind of into that could be cool but like I said, once you’re in it, you are in it. (A show) usually runs three,...

"She’s the Rebel Against the System": Wonder Woman Writer Explains Her Vital Difference From Batman & Superman
Image
Wonder Woman, along with Superman and Batman, form the trinity of DC Comics' most famous contributions to pop culture – the company's most recognizable, most enduring characters. In an interview with Popverse, writer Tom King talked about his upcoming Wonder Woman series, including how he differentiates the Amazonian Warrior Princess from her peers, declaring her, "the rebel against the system."

In a fantastic chat with Popverse's Ashley V. Robinson, King discussed his recent work, as well as his "gritty and grounded" new Penguin series, which he is writing alongside Wonder Woman, contrasting the two characters as the worst and best in the DC Universe, respectively. Calling Wonder Woman, "rebellious in a way that Superman and Batman aren’t," he spoke about writing the character's different approach to the status quo than other DC heroes.

Superman And Batman Uphold The Status Quo, Wonder Woman Upends It

"Batman enforces the status quo," Tom King said,...

Image
Speaking with PopverseSpeaking with Popverse about his upcoming Wonder Woman series, writer Tom King discussed the creative difficulties of writing the Amazonian superhero, calling her "the hardest mainstream character" he has written, in part because, "she was created in a different time and place by a man who had a very specific agenda."

In a great interview with Popverse's Ashley V. Robinson, Tom King spoke about the anxiety of returning to the mainstream DC Universe with his new Penguin and Wonder Woman books. Giving insight into his decision to write Wonder Woman, King highlighted the different considerations that "combined make her difficult to write, which is why I wanted to do it," adding "Who wants to do anything easy?"

"Every Time She Punches Someone, She's Failed at Her Job": Wonder Woman's New Era Officially Brands Her a Failure
Image
Wonder Woman is held to an incredibly high standard, considered one of the DC Universe's true paragons of virtue – and as a result, according to writer Tom King in an interview with Popverse, this leads to a character that is "constantly failing," an ambassador for peace that is constantly resorting to violence.

"Every time she punches someone, she’s failed at her job," King told Popverse's Ashley V. Robinson and the viewers of Enter the Popverse, in response to a viewer question. Tom King's upcoming Wonder Woman series, debuting this fall, will seek to reckon with the prevailing perception of the hero, including more of an exploration of her failures, along with her successes.

"He's the Antihero of Antiheroes. He's Walter White": DC Is Officially Reinventing a Gotham Joke as Its Most Sickening Villain
Image
The Penguin is one of the most protean villains in the Batman rogues gallery, with interpretations of the character varying radically from one creative team to the next. In an interview with Popverse, writer Tom King discussed returning to the mainstream DC Universe with his new Penguin series, offering some insights into the more grounded crime drama he hopes to tell using the character.

Speaking with Popverse's Ashley V. Robinson, King talked about what it is like writing "the worst person in the DC Universe," a character who he describes as lacking empathy, as "the antihero of antiheroes," comparing the Penguin to Breaking Bad's Walter White at his lowest, a character whose utmost concern is profit, regardless of all morality.

DC Bestseller Tom King Declares Peanuts "The Best Comic of All Time" - Here's Why
Image
One of DC's bestselling writers, Tom King, has declared that Charles Schulz's iconic comic strip Peanuts is "the best comic of all time." Anyone who has kept up with modern DC stories has heard the name Tom King in one way or another. The talented writer has produced some of the biggest titles for the company since he joined DC in the early 2010s. Some of his most notable stories have included a Watchmen spin-off story called Rorshach, the dark transformation of Danger Street, existential horror Mister Miracle, and a ton of Batman stories over the past ten years. He's become synonymous with DC Comics as one of the publisher's most bankable writers. However, his favorite comic of all time doesn't come from any of DC's arsenal of heroes and villains.

In a YouTube interview with Popverse, King discusses his upcoming work on a new Wonder Woman series. He...

Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters 3 may include some unused never-before-seen footage from the 1984 original. Reitman appeared at Ghostbusters Fan Fest over the weekend and announced that the surviving original cast read his script for the upcoming sequel, teasing they will be joining in on the fun. This has led many to believe the original cast, including Bill Murray, will be suiting up for Ghostbusters 3.

Now, Jason Reitman is teasing the use of unused 1984 Ghostbusters footage in his sequel. This could be a way to bring Harold Ramis back for a cameo, which would be huge for fans of the franchise. Reitman and his team could be going back to include the late actor in a similar way to how J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm brought...

Ghostbusters 1 And 2 Getting 4K Release With Never Before Seen Footage
Do you remember that very odd moment in a montage in the middle of Ghostbusters where it appears that Dan Ackroyd is having some kind of sexual encounter with a ghost floating above his bed? It’s been raising eyebrows ever since the film’s release, with fans of the movie poring over old scripts to try and figure out what it was intended for.

Now known as the “Fort Detmerring Ghost,” the scene consists of Ray and Winston investigating a haunting at an old military fort. Ray ends up trying on an old officer’s uniform, before a ghost appears and uh… well. Let’s just say “bustin’ makes you feel good.”

Long considered lost on the cutting room floor, the footage has now been located and is coming to a new Steelbook 4K/Blu-ray release, together with a plethora of neat special features.

Here’s what’s in...
