Kaley Cuoco, Chris Messina, Tom Bateman and Liana Liberato are back with more murder and mayhem in Based on a True Story season two. And this time, there’s a new pint-sized accessory in tow.
Based on a True Story is based on (or partly inspired by) a true story. The series, which satirizes true-crime tropes, introduced Cuoco and Messina as Ava and Nathan, a down-on-their-luck couple who crossed paths with an infamous serial killer, “The Westside Ripper,” in Los Angeles. Ava, a pregnant true-crime obsessive, suggested making a podcast with the killer as a way out of their marital rut.
Now, after the events of season one, season two opens with Ava and Nathan as new parents who attempt to now get out of the true-crime game — but, as the trailer shows, those aspirations are fleeting. The season opens on Ava and Nathan struggling to balance parenthood with waking away from their obsession.

Mr. Crocket is a Hulu horror film with an outstanding cast of veteran actors and newcomers alike. The new film contends with the best horror movies on Hulu, offering a unique take on the genre for the Halloween season. Set in 1993, the film is centered around a villainous children's show host, the titular character, who emerges from television sets to kidnap children and murder their parents. Mr. Crocket plucks a boy named Major away from his living room and brings him into a demonic realm, forcing his mother to set out to get him back.
The new Hulu horror movie is directed by Brandon Epsy, an up-and-coming filmmaker whose credits so far include short films and an episode of Bite Size Halloween. Despite his inexperience with feature films, Epsy established an engaging, unique aesthetic for Mr. Crocket that utilized retro visuals to embrace its 1990s VHS tape feel. The film...

This article contains spoilers for Mr. Crocket. Please proceed with caution.
Mr. Crocket has an immensely alluring premise for VHS-raised horror fans: the host of a children's TV show (a cross between Pee-wee Herman and Mister Rogers with ill-fitting porcelain chompers and a hopping cadence) is actually a supernatural entity who murders neglectful and abusive parents. His method of dispensation is reminiscent of A Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger, as he transmogrifies the world to a brutally cartoonish bent. In his world, bullets become bubbles, playtime never ends and much grislier things occur. Directed by Brandon Espy (responsible for the short of the same name featured as part of Hulu's Bite Size Halloween), Mr. Crocket is, in effect, fights a losing battle to live up to its conceit. The movie does itself a massive disservice in attempting to execute the long-lived fantasy of anyone who feels like sing-along tapes don't have enough gore.

"This is my house now... Take a deep breath." Whoa this looks bonkers! Hulu has revealed an official trailer for one of their next Huluween offerings coming up this horror season. Mr. Crocket is an original horror film (based on a short from their own Bite Size Halloween series) about a demonic children's show host who is kidnapping kids. From director Brandon Espy, this freaky creation will arrive streaming on Hulu to watch in just a few weeks. "Your kids best friend. Your worst nightmare." Starring Jerrika Hinton as Summer, Elvis Nolasco as Mr. Crocket (holy!!), Ayden Gavin, Kristolyn Lloyd, and Alex Akpobome. This looks super creepy and freaky and weird! Note: This story contains spoilers from “Industry” Season 3, Episode 4.
When Sagar Radia was first told that his character would be getting a bottle episode in “Industry” Season 3, he was flattered but brushed off the idea.
“I didn’t really take it too seriously,” Radia told TheWrap. “I’ve been in this game for a minute and people say things, and then it goes up the chain and something changes.”
Series co-showrunner Mickey Down first mentioned the pitch at a screening for the Season 2 premiere, before the HBO financial drama had even been renewed for a third season. To Radia’s surprise, the seemingly errant pitch came true.
“Cut to like a year later, once we started in pre-production and filming, I realized the reality of what was going to be,” the actor said “I was incredibly flattered and humbled and grateful, and all the really nice adjectives.”

David Jonsson's Gus is absent from Industry season 3. Jonsson said that he left the show so he could spread his wings as an up-and-coming actor. The star has explored a variety of roles including playing a major character in Alien: Romulus.
A major character absence in Industry season 3 has been explained by the star behind the role. There are quite a few members of the Industry cast who have appeared in every season, including Marisa Abela, Myha'la Herrold, Harry Lawtey, Conor MacNeill, and Ken Leung. No lie: Peacock is ordering a second season of Based on a True Story.
The NBCUniversal-owned streamer has picked up the series, a comedic thriller from UCP and starring Kaley Cuoco (who also executive produces) and Chris Messina. The first season debuted in June and earned mostly favorable reviews; detailed viewing data is, per usual with streamers, not public, but the series did land in Nielsen’s top 10 rankings for the week of its premiere.
Based on a True Story is, in fact, based on (or at least partly inspired by) a true story, while also satirizing true crime tropes. The series stars Cuoco and Messina as Ava and Nathan, a down-on-their-luck couple who cross paths with an infamous serial killer in Los Angeles. Ava, a true crime obsessive, hits on the idea of making a podcast with the killer as a way out of their rut.
The cast also includes Tom Bateman,...

Playing a man who gets entangled in a murder investigation because his wife (Kaley Cuoco) is obsessed with true crime, “Based on a True Story” kind of hits close to home for Chris Messina. When he was a kid, he and a friend actually may have actually discovered a crime scene.

They immediately called the cops. “We had to report it,” Messina recalled. “I was pretending to be River Phoenix in ‘Stand By Me.’”

HBO’s investment in Industry is paying off.
The Warner Bros. Discovery-backed premium cable network has handed out a third-season renewal for the finance drama from creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay. The pickup arrives a month after the show’s eight-episode sophomore run concluded.
“Industry reached new heights in season two, cementing its status as a buzzy hit with addictive storytelling, layered characters, a breakneck pace, and keen observations about contemporary workplace dynamics,” said Kathleen McCaffrey, senior vp HBO programming. “We’re incredibly proud of what Mickey and Konrad, Jami O’Brien, Jane Tranter and the team at Bad Wolf, together with our entire cast and crew, accomplished. We couldn’t be more excited to continue our journey with them into season three.”
Industry, which is co-produced in partnership with the BBC, is certified fresh with a 96 percent rating among critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

“I think about you less than I think about climate change,” a colleague tells Harper Stern in the new season of Industry, HBO’s razor-sharp, London-set series about the combative, cocaine-fuelled arena of international banking. The insult reveals as much about the show’s milieu as it does Harper’s ostracised junior banker, who’s been using Covid as an excuse not to show her face on the sales floor.
In reality, Harper (Myha’la Herrold), who works at fictional investment firm Pierpoint, is avoiding the fallout from the ice-cold double-crossing she executed at the end of season one, which saw a progressive female mentor fired in favour of Eric, a company man who thrives on the abusive workplace culture. By comparison, Harper feels performatively ruthless, and Herrold is assiduous in letting the college-dropout’s humanity accidentally reveal itself. Sometimes she even cries.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t watched “There Are Some Women…,” Episode 4 of “Industry” Season 2, now streaming on HBO Max.
HBO’s “Industry” is a show about being young and hungry: for money, sex, love, power and control. But in the ensemble of twentysomethings attempting to find themselves professionally and personally in the cutthroat world of British investment bank Pierpoint, creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay’s drama’s most memorable character — and most commanding performance — is their much older boss. Eric Tao (Ken Leung), the managing director of the Cross Product Sales desk that houses half of the show’s main quartet, isn’t the typical mentor figure, even as he develops a compelling camaraderie with the highly driven Harper (Myha’la Herrold). He’s single-minded in his pursuit of profit, and his preferred method of management is to bully and intimidate his subordinates into submission. Leung...
