Nick just dropped his Ncredible Gang vid for "Dream Girl" featuring Jeremih and Ty Money. We're told the song's definitely about Mariah -- Nick even sings "ain't over my ex."  Gotta love the concept -- Nick got adorable pooches to stand-in for the humans. Nick Soole
In the ninth episode of season 7 of Once Upon a Time, titled "One Little Tear," Lady Tremaine strikes a deal in order to free herself from jail so she can wake Anastasia, but the cost of saving one life may be the loss of another. Meanwhile, Jacinda shares a moment with Nick that could change her relationships with Henry and Lucy, and in flashbacks, we learn of the connection between Lady Tremaine and Gothel. Riverdale season 2 episode 6 review: Death Proof
Chris Cummins Nov 16, 2017

A timely episode of Riverdale mixes the serious with the supremely goofy. Spoilers ahead in our review...

This review contains spoilers.

2.6 Death Proof

Tonight's episode began with another obvious yet still true observation from Jughead - that we often wear masks that cover who we really are. Although this episode was written and filmed before the Harvey Weinstein/Louis Ck/et al stories broke, its impossible to view it outside of the context of that news cycle and how it gave rise to the #metoo movement. There's a lot going on in this week's episode but the most important element here is far and away the Cheryl/Nick/Veronica storyline. Last week we saw Nick St. Clair go transform from New York City-based textbook case...

Watch Jordan Downey’s Short Film Techno Western
He's induced laughter and chills in previous projects like ThanksKilling, Critters: Bounty Hunter, and Red Weather, but in his latest short film, director Jordan Downey channels the nostalgia of Stranger Things and combines it with the coming-of-age poignancy of early Stephen King stories in Techno Western, which you can watch right now on Daily Dead.

In addition to Techno Western, which you can watch below, we also have a Q&A with Downey that offers more insights into the making of the short film.

"What was the genesis and inspiration for this project?

Jordan Downey: The idea, really, is drawn from my childhood. When I was a kid I would always take my squirt guns and spray paint them to look like some cannon or prop from Star Wars. I’d duct tape flashlights and pocket knives to the barrel and pretend to go “hunting” in the woods for bad guys.

"Inventing the Future": On André Bazin, Virgil Abloh, and Cinema’s Universal Acceleration
Is it possible to make a documentary about the future? Following a widely-praised festival run that included screenings at Locarno, Tiff, and Nyff, Isiah Medina’s debut feature 88:88 was recently made available on YouTube. Since then, I’ve encountered questions asking whether or not 88:88 is a collapse or amalgamation of modern technology, and the seemingly contradictory nature of such inquiries emphasizes only a portion of the blurring of distinctions Medina’s cinema orchestrates. The Head of Programming at Locarno, Mark Peranson, called Medina the “most adventurous and contemporary practitioner of the avant-garde of his generation.” Perhaps the most contemporary avant-garde filmmaker is the most suited to draw the cinematic contours of our collective future. Medina is now in the process of adapting Nick Srnicek and Alex Williams’s Inventing the Future, a manifesto that insists on the emancipatory role of technology as we push towards the full automation of labor.

Den Of Geek's top 15 TV episodes of 2016
Den Of Geek Dec 22, 2016

Game Of Thrones, Black Mirror, Stranger Things, Westworld... Did your favourite TV episode of 2016 make the cut?

Earlier this month, twenty-five of Den Of Geek's writers nominated up to five of their favourite television episodes of the year, ranked in order of preference. Points were allocated. Favourites emerged. And the sanity of the site's TV editor was offered once again as a festive sacrifice to the God of Microsoft Excel worksheets.

15. Scream season 2 episode 10 – The Vanishing

Gotham (2014)
17 (!) New Netflix Shows to Binge Watch in September 2016, And the Best Episodes of Each
Gotham (2014)
[Editor’s Note: Typically, we recommend six or seven series newly available on Netflix in the coming month, but this September is chock full of choices — in part because fall shows are starting up again and networks want to make sure fans are caught up on prior seasons. So, this month, we’ve selected 17 high-priority choices and have highlighted our favorites. Choose for yourself, or settle in for the ultimate binge.]

1. “Easy” Season 1 (available September 22)

Why Should I Watch It? Orlando Bloom, Malin Akerman, Jake Johnson, Marc Maron, Dave Franco, Hannibal Buress, Emily Ratajkowski, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Aya Cash and Elizabeth Reaser star in this new eight-episode anthology series, but even that kind of star power can’t compete with a brilliant creator. Good thing “Easy” springs from the mind of indie favorite Joe Swanberg. The “Uncle Kent” and “Drinking Buddies” writer-director is taking on his first TV series with a comfortable setting — Chicago — and subject — “love, sex, technology and culture.” We can’t wait.

Best Episode: Every episode Aya Cash appears in will be the best, so hopefully she’s in every single one.

2. “Call the Midwife” Season 5 (available September 19)

Nick Broomfield
The ‘Grim Sleeper’ Serial Killer, Subject of ‘Tales of the Grim Sleeper’ Doc, Is Sentenced to Death
Nick Broomfield
Lonnie David Franklin Jr., better known as the “Grim Sleeper,” has been sentenced to death. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Kathleen Kennedy announced the decision on Wednesday, August 10.

In May, a jury convicted Franklin of 10 counts of murder: nine women and one teenage girl between 1985 and 2007. During the trial, prosecutors also connected him to several other murders, with detectives believing he may have been responsible for the deaths of at least 25 women.

“This is not a sentence of vengeance,” said the judge, who denied the defense’s motion for a new trial, as the Los Angeles Times notes. “It’s justice.”

Franklin, 63, was also convicted of attempted murder in connection with an attack on Enietra Washington, who survived and went on to testifying against him, calling Franklin a “piece of evil.” “You’re Satan representative,” she said. “You’re right up there with Manson.”

Emily S. Whitten: Sdcc’s Her Universe Fashion Show
Tomorrow is the last day for the public to vote for a winner in the Her Universe fashion show that I was fortunate to see live at the San Diego Comic Con (and that you can watch as the finale of its own docu-series on the new on-demand streaming network Comic Con HQ). So what better time for my fashion show recap?

But first, a little background. The fashion show, now in its third year, was started by Ashley Eckstein of the women’s geek fashion company Her Universe to bring true haute couture to geek fashion. The show is very professionally done, with video clips of the designers talking about their inspiration and works-in-progress; models (who may also be the outfit’s designer, and who are of all different body types, which is cool) strutting their stuff on the catwalk; and a DJ to keep the party going. It...

The Bottom Shelf: Return Of The Killer Tomatoes, He Never Died
Nick Aldwinckle Aug 10, 2016

Blood Bath, The Beast With 1,000,000 Eyes and Return Of The Killer Tomatoes: it's our latest DVD and Blu-ray round-up...

Britain is in a state of turmoil, with Brexit, political leadership spinning out of control and social media civil war already underway. As such, it has perhaps never been a more appropriate time for a release of John De Bello and Stephen Peace’s 1988 meditation on the path towards peace and racial tolerance, Return Of The Killer Tomatoes, out on Arrow Bluray.

Set ten years after the events of the Great Tomato War, as depicted in uncompromising detail in De Bello and Peace’s earlier epic, Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes, tomatoes – following the mutant, sentient, strain responsible for the deaths of many citizens – are now outlawed in the Us. As with all the best banned items, killer tomatoes have now gone underground, with a thriving black market...

Watch the Return of the Krites in New Short Fan Film ‘Critters: Bounty Hunter’
The Krites first came to the big screen two years after Gremlins, but they didn’t need to be fed after midnight to become evil—they were malevolent little monsters from the get-go in 1986’s Critters and its three sequels. The ferocious furballs are set to make a comeback in an upcoming digital series from Warner Bros., but you can see the return of the Krites right now in a new short fan film, Critters: Bounty Hunter.

Created with a six-person crew and helmed by Jordan Downey, the director of ThanksKilling and ThanksKilling 3, Critters: Bounty Hunter is Downey’s bid for the director’s chair on the digital series, while also serving as an early holiday gift for Critters fans.

“The Following Is A Fan Film.

Warner Bros. recently announced plans to revive “Critters” as a web series for their digital unit, Blue Ribbon Content. I’ve been a...
