Nancy Dupree was born on 3 October 1927 in Kerala, British India. She was married to Louis Dupree and Alan Wolfe. She died on 10 September 2017 in Kabul, Afghanistan.
She spent most of her life working to preserve Afghan history and artifacts, protecting them from the consequences of invasions and war. She oversaw an archive of 60,000 Afghan documents at Kabul University.
