Biography

    • Rebecca Carrigan, also known as "Becca Blue" (author name) was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1981. She attended the Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2004 and received her diploma in Acting for Film & Television shortly after that. After spending some time acting in the local area, Rebecca wrote her first self-published novel "All I Need" in 2011, which she then turned into an independent film in 2012-2013. The feature film "All I Need" that she wrote, directed, and produced on her own won the Royal Reel Award at the Canadian International Film Festival in 2014. Rebecca then went on to write and produce a short film entitled "Blind Faith".

From here, Rebecca joined the board of directors at the Grand River Film Festival as Short Shorts Film Programmer and assisted with a few other film projects as Art Director and more along the way. Rebecca has run many author, actor, and film industry workshops between Ontario and BC over the years helping aspiring industry professionals find their way. Rebecca then moved onto Sony Pictures Imageworks & Electronic Arts Canada for a short time on a contract position as Production Coordinator and even worked for a few post-production companies in BC while she continued to write her next YA novel, "The Guardians Of Your Heart" that finally released in 2019.

Rebecca also holds a diploma in Graphic Design & Interactive Media which she utilizes within the publishing and film industry in many ways. Recently, Rebecca released her first two children's books in a series she called, "My Dog Bruce" that teaches kids about dog breeds, grooming, pet care, and more. Most people don't know this, but Rebecca is a Certified Professional Dog Groomer, Animal Behaviorist and Animal Reiki Practitioner.

In 2021 Rebecca started work back at a Production Studio in Vancouver, BC and runs her own freelance business on the side Sakura Blue Studios offering professional headshot photography, film services and graphic design.
