‘The White Lotus’ Star Jason Isaacs Reveals The Truth Behind All Those Rumors And Why He Almost Turned Down The Role: “I Was Scared Of It”
Image
Jason Isaacs made his movie debut in 1989, in British romcom The Tall Guy, and has worked solidly ever since. He’s used to being recognized, mostly for his role as Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter, but also for his small-screen work in The Oa and Star Trek spin-offs. He expects that, given the fanatical audiences they attract, but he’s been blindsided by the amount of attention he’s had since the April finale of Mike White’s hit HBO show The White Lotus, in which he plays shady U.S. businessman Tim Ratliff.

“For the last few weeks, I’ve been recognized a lot, and in the most surprising places,” notes the deadpan 62-year-old Brit as he makes short work of a mushroom donburi at London’s White City House. “But that’s what usually happens: I’ll be recognized for a few weeks, and then it stops. I...

'SNL' Recreates 'The White Lotus' with Surprise Guests
Image
Two years ago, Saturday Night Live reimagined Season 2 of The White Lotus as The Black Lotus ("coming to HBO and Starz"). Now they've parodied Season 3, and it's about time, or even past time, what with the finale airing a week ago. James Austin Johnson gets a chance to do more of his excellent impersonation of Donald Trump in The White Potus, which puts members of the Trump family and administration in the Thai setting of Season 3. He's joined by other members of the cast doing some good impersonations (Chloe Fineman standing out with her send-up of Parker Posey's Victoria Ratliff and her Southern accent), and some surprise guests.

It was actually a very well-thought-out sketch that used the economic crisis of America's isolationist trade war as a substitute for the financial and legal downfall of the Ratliff family in The White Lotus. Instead of popping Lorazepam to block out reality,...

The Funniest Part of the ‘White Lotus’ Finale Is How It Screwed Over Its Corporate Partner
Image
Warning: This article contains spoilers for season three of The White Lotus, as well as descriptions of self-harm.

The third season finale of The White Lotus sure seemed to piss a lot of people off.

Viewers have expressed annoyance that some of the most wheel-spinning plot threads didn’t amount amount to much by the end of the season, not to mention that several key characters made some truly baffling decisions, and much of the episode revolved around an over-the-top shoot-out that was precipitated by a goofy, Darth Vader-like misunderstanding.

But it may have all been worth it for this hilarious behind-the-scenes story involving one of the show’s corporate partners: Coffee Mate.

It’s not unusual for major TV shows to have tie-ins with food products, like how Eggo waffles put Stranger Things’ Eleven on their boxes, and Mountain Dew released a Game of Thrones-themed can, which...

‘The White Lotus’ Star Jason Isaacs Denies He Based His Accent on ‘Southern Charm’
Image
Contrary to what some viewers (and his co-stars) may believe, “The White Lotus” Season 3 star Jason Isaacs has insisted that he did not base his performance or accent in the HBO series on anyone from “Southern Charm.”

“I did not watch or base anything on anybody from ‘Southern Charm.’ That’s the end of that conversation. Sorry,” Isaacs revealed Thursday during an appearance on SiriusXM’s “Andy Cohen Live.” The actor’s comments come weeks after fellow “White Lotus” Season 3 star Sam Nivola, who played Lochlan, the youngest son of Isaacs’ Tim Ratliff, said that series creator Mike White told this season’s Ratliff actors to watch “Southern Charm” to prepare for their roles as an American family visiting Thailand from North Carolina.

On the surface, it seems like a fitting recommendation, given not only that White is a self-professed reality TV fan but also that “Southern Charm” focuses on...

'HBO Didn't Want Me': The White Lotus Fan Favorite Addresses Criticism Over Her Appearance
Image
Aimee Lou Wood had her breakthrough role in Netflix's comedy drama Sex Education, where she played Aimee Gibbs. However, her fame increased once she joined HBO's anthology series The White Lotus Season 3.

Wood played Chelsea, a chill yoga teacher who was determined to get through to her much-older boyfriend, Rick. She quickly became a fan-favorite for her relaxed behavior and comedic timing, yet the actress highlighted that this came with some never-ending conversation about her appearance and her teeth, which are unlike the Hollywood staple pearly whites. In a new interview with British GQ, Wood explained that creator Mike White had to "fight" to cast her, which made her feel insecure.

Wood explained that she was often praised for how funny she was on set, although she didn't realize it. She singled out a scene where Chelsea runs towards Rick. "Frank, the cameraman, goes, 'That choice you made with the weird run?...

Jason Isaacs Defends His Southern Accent in ‘The White Lotus’

On today’s episode of Radio Andy’s “Andy Cohen Live,” Andy asked special guest Jason Isaacs from “The White Lotus” if he based his character Tim Ratliff’s southern accent on anyone from “Southern Charm.”

“I did not watch or base anything on anybody from ‘Southern Charm,'” Jason confirmed to Andy.

According to Jason, renowned dialect coach Liz Himelstein told him the accents on “Southern Charm” were of no use to him when they found out his character was from Durham, North Carolina.

“I found politicians from Durham, because what’s really intersting about Durham — and this is to those people on the internet who were incredibly rude about me, but you’re entitled to do [that], but about my acccent particularly — but they had two vowel sounds which are hangovers from the old Colonial days,...

The White Lotus Season 3 Ending Explained: Gunfights, Poisoned Piña Coladas & Shocking Revelations Rock the Finale
Image
White Lotus Finale Chaos (Photo Credit – Instagram)

If you thought The White Lotus couldn’t get any wilder after Sicily, think again, because Season 3 just dropped its finale, and it is one chaotic, beautifully shot mess. Titled “Amor Fati” (fancy Latin for “love of fate”), the episode ties up all the shady threads, awkward flings, secret deals, and, of course, that mysterious dead body we’ve been side-eyeing since episode 1. Gunshots? Check. Drama? Oh, absolutely. Bad piña coladas? Weirdly, yes.

From Rick’s Bangkok baggage to Belinda’s financial glow-up, this episode throws everything at the wall, and most of it sticks. We’ve got heartbreak, ambition, unexpected wisdom from Lochlan, and some seriously twisted attempts at family bonding. Whether you were rooting for Gaitok’s hopeless romance or trying to guess who’d end up floating face-down in paradise, this finale doesn’t disappoint. Let’s dive into the...

We Still Have a Lot of Questions About That ‘White Lotus’ Finale
Image
The Season Three finale of The White Lotus aired Sunday night, finally answering the season-long question: Who the heck dies in the end? Fans believed from Episode One that at least one character would be killed in a shooting, and, as in Seasons One and Two, each episode slowly (this time, much more slowly) built to the anticipated climax, leaving breadcrumbs both real and sometimes intentionally misleading. Well, we finally got our answer — but only to that one specific plot point: who dies. Despite the finale’s 90-minute runtime, it...

The White Lotus Season 3 Might Have Already Introduced the Perfect Red Herring to Fool Fans
Image
The White Lotus continues to make waves with Season 3, and Episode 6 is no exception. Creator Mike White seemingly took a page out of Game of Thrones's book with a subject that was often taboo: incest. But it didn't stop there. The episode, titled "Denials", had its characters face their worst fears: Tim Ratliff contemplated which form of suicide would make the most sense; Jaclyn, Kate, and Laurie played the blame game; Belinda faced off with Gary/Greg, and Saxon discovered that his planned sexual escapades took a very strange turn.

Writer/director Mike White has effectively built a perfect roller coaster, gradually leading to the inevitable outcome of a massive tragedy. With only two episodes left, viewers are speculating wildly about who might be the shooter firing several bullets, as witnessed by Belinda's son Zion in the opening of the premiere episode. The obvious suspect is Gary/Greg, who...

Duke Slams ‘The White Lotus’ for Dressing Jason Isaacs in School Shirt for Suicide Scenes: ‘Simply Goes Too Far’
Image
“The White Lotus” Season 3 featured some pretty graphic scenes of Jason Isaacs’ character Tim Ratliff wearing a Duke T-shirt, and the university is not happy.

In Season 3, Episode 6, Isaacs’ character contemplates a number of suicide attempts and their possible outcomes. These mostly include him shooting himself with a gun stolen from the resort security guard. All the grisly daydreams happen while the character is in a grey Duke University shirt, and the school released a statement saying the HBO series went “too far.”

“Duke appreciates artistic expression and creative storytelling, but characters prominently wearing apparel bearing Duke’s federally registered trademarks creates confusion and mistakenly suggests an endorsement or affiliation where none exists,” Frank Tramble, Duke’s vice president of communications, marketing and public affairs, told The New York Times.

Trambled added that “The White Lotus” “not only uses our brand without permission but, in our view, uses it on imagery that is troubling,...

Jason Isaacs Reveals Whether Harry Potter's Draco Is a Better Son Than The White Lotus' Saxon
Image
Jason Isaacs has played several iconic characters throughout his career, but few of them are as popular as Harry Potter's Lucius Malfoy. The actor is aware of how beloved the series is and recently drew comparisons with his recent role in HBO's The White Lotus.

His respective characters are different, but there are some similarities between the two, like constant arrogance, a belief that they're better than poor people, and the willingness to do anything for money/power, which led them to issues with the law. During a promotional interview for The White Lotus, via Max Nordic on X,Isaacs compared his characters' parental skills, as well as his on-screen sons.

The White Lotus Season 3, Episode 5 Release Date & Time
Image
The following contains spoilers for The White Lotus Season 3, Episodes 1 to 4, available now on HBO's streaming platform Max.

The White Lotus Season 3, Episode 4, "Hide or Seek" premiered last Sunday, March 9, 2025. The show's latest story has officially hit the mid-season episode, which means most of the conflicts have already been set up, and they will begin to reach their climax and unravel pretty soon. The episode's title is based on one of Tim's lines during the episode and, as it suggests, the plot is finally digging deeper into what certain characters are seeking or hiding from in Thailand now.

The episode is mainly set at Gary and Chloe's boat party and the town, where the trio of girlfriends seek some adventure. The tension is ramping up with all the flirting, lying, stealing and much more going on in the season. Rick finally confessed his motivation to visit Thailand to Chelsea and...

The White Lotus Season 3, Episode 4 Release Date & Time
Image
The following contains spoilers forThe White LotusSeason 3, Episodes 1 to 3, available now on HBO's streaming platform Max.

The White Lotus Season 3 continues. It premiered on February 16 and the third episode, "The Meaning of Dreams", was released last Sunday, March 2, 2025. The season currently has a 95% rating based on 115 critics' reviews and an 88% rating from the general audience on Rotten Tomatoes. The latest story in the anthology series is getting praise for discovering new ways to make characters deeply uncomfortable in what was supposed to be a relaxing week in a luxury resort. Showrunner and writer-director Mike White's formula for the show still works: fans can't wait to see how the season's multiple subplots will be resolved this time.

The latest episode is anything but subtle in its reference to a figurative tsunami coming towards the guests and staff at the White Lotus. Big problems can be seen on the horizon with...

The White Lotus Season 3, Episode 3 Sees the Storm Slowly Approaching
Image
The following contains spoilers for The White Lotus Season 3, Episode 3, "The Meaning of Dreams," which premiered Sunday, March 2 on HBO.

One thing The White Lotus isn't in Season 3 is subtle. The moaning score, gossip sessions and disastrous dreams all suggest the obvious: something bad is coming. That doesn't mean The White Lotus has turned sour. These metaphors and imagery still form a delightful story full of anxieties and colorful characters.

Season 3, Episode 3, "The Meaning of Dreams," follows up on the previous episode's activities that left the guests in more stress than what the resort promotes. Tim Ratliff is on high alert as the FBI raids his office on the other side of the world for his money-laundering scheme, the fabulous blonde trio are brewing up crimes of passion, and Rick may be brewing up a crime of his own as he gets ever so close to Sritala. More characters are...

‘The White Lotus’ Season 3, Episode 2 Recap: Resort Under Siege, FBI Raid and an Empty Man
Image
There’s great drama to be found in irony, and “The White Lotus” knows this better than most shows. Sometimes there’s nothing less relaxing than going on vacation, as Tim Ratliff (Jason Isaacs) is starting to realize, and sometimes the most toxic people in our lives can be our closest friends. That contradiction is explored with uncomfortable accuracy in the opening of Season 3, Episode 2, which begins with Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) and Kate (Leslie Bibb) using Laurie’s (Carrie Coon) early excusal from their late-night drinking sesh to throw thinly-veiled jabs at their friend’s life.

After heaping praise upon her in the “White Lotus” Season 3 premiere, Jaclyn and Kate exchange gossip about Laurie’s career, her daughter and even her divorce. We all look for some kind of validation in our friends. The trick is doing it without tearing them down, which is a balance that neither Kate nor Jaclyn seem interested in striking.

‘The White Lotus’ Season 3: Who Voices Tim’s Co-Worker Kenny?
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “The White Lotus” Season 3, Episode 2.

“The White Lotus” Season 3 managed to sneakily include a beloved actor into the mix on the sly.

The second episode of the HBO hit series included a phone conversation between Tim Ratliff (Jason Isaacs) and a former co-worker Kenny — someone who Tim denied having heard from in four years to a reporter in the premiere.

Kenny and Tim are into some shady stuff regarding their Sho-Kel fund and the government of Brunei. Tim’s call with Kenny featured the voice of an actor many fans hoped would appear in the show at some point after he blew back onto the acting scene in the 2020s.

Here’s more on the re-emerged Oscar winner who the show got to voice Kenny.

Who Voices Kenny?

Kenny is voiced by none other than Ke Huy Quan. You hear mention of Kenny in the Season 3 premiere,...
