Exclusive: The Gotham Group has signed Icelandic film director Thordur Palsson whose feature debut, the horror film The Damned, premiered at this year’s Tribeca Festival and will be released domestically by Vertical this fall.

Palsson was the creator and lead director of The Valhalla Murders, which premiered on Netflix in 2020 as the platform’s first Icelandic original.

Exclusive: The Gotham Group has signed Singaporean writer and director Nelicia Low ahead of the world premiere of her debut feature Pierce at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

The thriller will be the first ever Singaporean feature to compete in the main Crystal Globe Competition of the Czech festival, running from June 28 to July 6.

Set against the high intensity world of competitive fencing, the drama revolves around a young fencer who reconnects with an older brother convicted of murder.

The work taps into Low’s knowledge of the fencing world through her experience as a national champion, who represented her country before retiring to focus on filmmaking, as well as her own complex relationship with her autistic brother.

Exclusive: Hollywood management and production company The Gotham Group has launched a new international division and appointed long-time manager and producer Justin Littman as its head.

The appointment see Littman join The Gotham Group partners roster alongside Peter McHugh, Julie Kane-Ritsch, Lindsay Williams, Jeremy Bell, Eric Robinson, Lee Stollman, Rich Green, and Matt Shichtman.

Exclusive: Amblin Partners has preemptively acquired and put on a fast track The White Room. The pic has a script by hot genre scribe Bryce McGuire, and Rod Blackhurst will direct it. It was developed by The Picture Company and Ace Content and will be a co-production between those companies.
