While living with his family in the USA where his father presided the Brazilian Navy Commission in Washington DC, Carlos de Andrade studied record engineering and production at Omega School of Recording Arts & Sciences - Rockville, MD - USA, where he graduated in 1979 returning to his home town in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil with the first diploma of its kind in the country. He started working as a recording engineer in the newly built studios of Globo Enterprises affiliated record company, SOM LIVRE. There he participated as a recording engineer in a series of records and movie projects, including; "O Caso Claudia" and "O Sequestro". As an engineer he recorded and mixed 36 Gold, 17 Platinum and 8 Diamond awarded record projects until 1985, when he left the company to form his own. In 1985 he co-founded Multi Studios with Raimundo Bittencourt, Master Studios and Visom Digital with Sergio Limanetto. During this time Carlos produced hundreds of albums for his record company, Visom, and for all multinational companies in Brazil and abroad having the opportunity to record the music of Paul Mazursky "Moon Over Parador". In 1990 Multi Studios was sold and Sergio had to leave the partnership. Carlos sold Master Studios and kept Visom as his company creating Brazil's first mastering facility outside of a record manufacture. From then on Visom Digital grew to become a leading mastering house in Brazil, a full production company with filming, recording, editing, mixing, post-production and finishing studios. Carlos became the main reference for sound restoration in Latin America, working for several museums and archives and starting a documentary and drama production department at Visom Digital. With over 300 audio-visual music projects to his credit, his first documentary, CICLOS, won every Festival where it was screened at. Visom pioneered DVD, SACD and Blu-Ray authoring in Brazil and is now producing his first drama series for a Brazilian TV Network. Carlos is Married to Adriana and father of Victor and Marcelo.
