Ina Kutulas began writing poetry while still at school. This was followed by her first publications (until 1985 under her birth name Ina-Kathrin Schildhauer) and prizes. In 1983 she became interested in literary translation for the first time and since then, together with Asteris Kutulas, she has translated a large number of works by important Greek authors (Konstantin Kavafis, Giorgos Seferis, Mikis Theodorakis, Jannis Ritsos, Odysseas Elytis etc.) into German. Between 1987 and 1989, she participated in the production of the magazine Bizarre Cities. From 1990 to 1991, she worked with Asteris Kutulas, Tilo Köhler and Marina Bertrand on the editorial team of the monthly magazine Boulevard Sondeur.

From 1992 to 1996 Ina Kutulas lived on the outskirts of Athens. There she developed into a prose writer and began work on her diary novel "Maybe Athen - Berlin Maybe", which she completed in Berlin; the book was published in 1999 by konkursbuch Verlag Claudia Gehrke (Tübingen), who had also published her first book "Autumn crocus" in 1992.

In 2009 and 2010 she was mainly involved in the book project "Mikis Theodorakis. A Life in Pictures" and the film project "Mikis Theodorakis. Composer" (for ARTE). In 2011, on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Odysseas Elytis, she organized an exhibition of many of her collages at the Greek Cultural Foundation in Berlin.

In 2012 she wrote the screenplay for the film "Recycling Medea" with Asteris Kutulas and supervised this project with him until the film was completed in spring 2014. At the same time, she wrote the manuscript for the "Horen" volume 249 entitled "Even then, when every sky is missing - In search of a lost (Greek) land", for which Ina Kutulas, together with Asteris Kutulas, made the text selection and wrote the texts for the contributions by Konstantinos Kavafis and Maria Polydouri, among others.

From 2014 to 2018, she worked as a co-author and co-producer for the film project "Dance Fight Love Die - With Mikis on the Road", for which she screened 600 hours of footage and collaborated several times with the editor Cleopatra Dimitriou during the editing process. At the same time, she was artistic advisor for the creation of numerous satellite clips accompanying the film, conceived and realized by Asteris Kutulas and other directors.

In response to the ongoing Greece-bashing between 2010 and 2015, she provided the decisive impetus for the founding of the film festival "Hellas Filmbox Berlin", which premiered in January 2016. Together with a Greek-German team put together by Asteris and Ina Kutulas, the festival has been held successfully several times. At the suggestion and under the direction of Ina Kutulas, many of the films were subtitled in German in order to make the extensive Greek film production accessible to interested German audiences.

Together with Asteris Kutulas, Sandra von Ruffin and Klaus Salge, Ina Kutulas continued to select the films for the focus "Jewish Life in Greece" (2016), together with Rafika Chawishe for the focus "Greek Female Filmmakers" (2017).

Since 2019, Ina Kutulas has been writing event concepts and scripts, mostly together with Asteris Kutulas. In 2018, work began on the film "Electra" and in 2021 on the conceptual collaboration for Asteris Kutulas' liquid staging film projects "Electra 21" (2021) and "Medea 21" (2022).

Ina Kutulas has created the textual basis for various concert and CD productions with a large number of adaptations into German, and in exceptional cases she also writes the lyrics herself.
