Premiere Entertainment Group (Peg) has reported brisk sales at last week’s AFM on the crime thriller Desert Dawn starring Kellan Lutz and Cam Gigandet from Twilight.

Deals have closed in Australia & New Zealand (Rialto), Latin America (A2), Germany (Tiberius), Spain (Flins y Piniculas), France (Program Store), Benelux (Amazon), Eastern Europe (Daro), Russia/Cis (Filmster), Middle East (Eagle Films), Taiwan (Av Jet), and India and airlines (Pictureworks).

Desert Dawn centres on a new small-town sheriff (Lutz) and his resentful deputy (Gigandet) who get entangled in a web of lies and corruption involving shady businessmen and a cartel while investigating the murder of a mysterious woman.

Terrence Howard And Taye Diggs Crime Comedy ‘BFFs’ Produced By Wu-Tang’s RZA Lands International Rights Deal — TIFF Market

Exclusive: Premiere Entertainment has picked up international rights to BFFs, a crime comedy starring Terrence Howard and Taye Diggs.

The film, written by Adam Rifkin and directed by Constantine Paraskevopoulos, is currently in post-production.

Howard and Diggs star alongside an ensemble cast led by Constantine Paraskevopoulos and Adam Rifkin with Jennifer Morrison Aníta Briem, Michael Bacall, Amaury Nolasco, and Nick Stahl. Premiere Entertainment is talking to buyers about BFFs at TIFF. CAA is handling North American sales.

BFFs tells the story of Jerry (Paraskevopoulos) who is attempting to track down and reunite with his old friend Henry (Rifkin), only to find Henry is living a very different life than the one they had dreamed of in their youth. As they pick up their relationship right where it left off, their childish practical jokes quickly escalate out of control, upending Henry’s life with hilarious but possibly fatal consequences.

Iatse Leads Indie Film Crew On Strike In Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico’s film industry still is recovering from the effects of Hurricane Maria, and now it’s been hit by a strike. Crew members working on a low-budget film called Selfie have walked off the job to protest what Iatse says is the company’s failure to pay crew members “over $100,000.”

“The Iatse is currently on strike against Selfie, Selfie Inc., in Puerto Rico,” the union said in a communique to its members. “All Iatse members have left the show to support the organizing effort. The company is currently and actively trying to re-crew Asap.

“According to their own accounting department,” the union said, “the production owed the crew, including our represented crafts/members, over $100,000.” Iatse advised its members that they are “not to render any services for this production” and that “travel to Puerto Rico will be crossing a picket line.”
