Director Mike P. Nelson teases the Silent Night, Deadly Night reboot. The original slasher movie was released in 1984 and follows Billy Chapman, who, years after his parents were murdered, becomes a Santa-costumed killer. While the reception was underwhelming, the film has garnered a strong fandom and spawned multiple Silent Night, Deadly Night sequels.

The Silent Night, Deadly Night reboot movie premieres on December 12 and will explore another bloody Christmas season. Rohan Campbell of Halloween Ends portrays Billy, as other cast members include Ruby Modine, David Tomlinson, Mark Acheson, Sharon Bajer, and David Lawrence Brown.

Blood, Tinsel and Terror Await in ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’ Remake
Image
The killer Santa is back. Over forty years since it first outraged audiences and delighted horror fans, Silent Night, Deadly Night is being reimagined for a new generation. Slated to open in US cinemas on 12 December 2025, the remake stars Halloween Ends actor Rohan Campbell in the role of Billy Chapman, the traumatised orphan turned axe-wielding Christmas avenger.

Directed and written by Wrong Turn’s Mike P. Nelson, the new film arrives via Cineverse, whose recent output includes the Terrifier franchise. The teaser trailer, released over Comic-Con weekend, leans heavily into the retro slasher aesthetic of its predecessor, while promising a slick, modern approach to the festive carnage.

The original Silent Night, Deadly Night, released in 1984, caused a national controversy due to its marketing, which prominently featured a killer dressed as Father Christmas. Despite being pulled from theatres after just one week, the low-budget shocker became a cult success, earning $2.5 million and spawning four sequels.

They were joined by a distinguished cast, including Peter Dinklage, Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, and Taylour Paige. A surprise video message from cast member Kevin Bacon, who was unable to attend, was also presented to the audience. In conjunction with the panel, it was announced that tickets for the film’s theatrical run are now available for purchase.

Blumhouse Releases ‘Happy Death Day’ Poster by Matt Ryan Tobin
Image
Blumhouse and Mutant have teamed up to release a Happy Death Day poster by Matt Ryan Tobin.

Limited to 50, the 24×36 full-color lithograph print on high-quality gloss paper is available for $45.

This marks Blumhouse and Mutant’s second art collaboration, following Phantom City Creative’s recent M3GAN 2.0 poster.

Happy Death Day is directed by Christopher Landon (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones) and written by Scott Lobdell (Critters Attack). Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard, and Ruby Modine star.

In the 2017 film, a blissfully self-centered co-ed is doomed to relive the day of her murder… unless she can identify her masked assailant and hopefully stop the madness. If she can’t, she will be stuck in an insane loop, reliving the ghoulish nightmare that has become her death day.

A third installment in the slasher franchise is in the works.

‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’ Reboot Celebrates Garbage Day With First Image of Rohan Campbell as Billy Chapman
Image
Audiences these days have truly grown to love the terrifying presence of horror in their holidays. Whether it be Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, the Yuletide season, or even St. Patrick's Day, the number of holiday-themed horror movies has increased over the past few decades. Despite its growing popularity, though, it was a controversial theme back then. In fact, when Silent Night, Deadly Night hit theaters in 1984, a conservative group of parents found the feature offensive for tarnishing the image of their beloved Saint Nick. But that’s not to say the movie hasn’t had its brighter days; it has even found its rightful viewers several years later and is now deemed a cult classic. Now, with the movie confirmed to be receiving a modern reboot, Deadline has unveiled the first image of Rohan Campbell as the new Billy Chapman — a role first played by Robert Brian Wilson.

Image
The characters of Shameless are relatable and imperfect, showcasing the uglier aspects of being human. The best Shameless characters are complex and have compelling story arcs. The show introduces new and interesting characters in its later seasons, adding depth to the South Side community.

The best Shameless characters are unique and flawed in their own way. Many characters came and went in the 11-season Showtime series, but no matter who they were, Shameless didn't hide the uglier parts of what made them truly human: making mistakes, dealing with disappointment, and facing harsh realities. As such, the characters of this series are some of the most intriguing to grace the small screen because of their relatable imperfections.

The Shameless cast all deserved awards for their abilities to scratch beneath the flawed surface of the Gallagher family and co., showing their likability and empathy. Whether it was Emmy Rossum's put-upon Fiona Gallagher,...

‘Fear’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Joseph Sikora, Annie Ilonzeh, Iddo Goldberg, Ruby Modine, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Andrew Bachelor, Tyler Abron, Terrence Jenkins, Jessica Allain, Michele McCormick | Written by John Ferry, Deon Taylor | Directed by Deon Taylor

Fear begins with the sound of a tape being placed in a Vcr followed by extremely glitchy footage of author Rom Jennings being interviewed about his upcoming book, a non-fiction work on the mythology surrounding fear. Among other things, he mentions needing to take a research trip to a particular area in Northern California.

That location is the Strawberry Lodge and Rom is bringing his girlfriend Bianca on the trip with plans to propose to her. He’s also invited his agent, Michael and some friends including Serena, Lou, Benny, Kim and married couple Russ and Meg to join them.

Director Deon Taylor and co-writer John Ferry set this reunion against the backdrop of an unnamed pandemic. While...

Happy Death Day: The Killer's Identity, Explained
Image
The 2017 dark comedy slasher Happy Death Day is a fun take on the classic Groundhog Day trope, with the main character reliving the same day over and over again. The Blumhouse film was a success on release, making over $125.5 million worldwide on a $4.8 million budget and prompting the sequel, Happy Death Day 2U.

While the film was light-hearted in its approach to time-loop plot lines, it managed to keep the audience guessing throughout until it revealed the killer’s identity. Let's examine the film's plot, characters, and the killer's identity.

Happy Death Day Storyline

Happy Death Day stars Jessica Rothe as Tree Gelbman, a college student at Bayfield University with a complex life. She's dealing with her mother's death, a complicated bond with her father, an affair with her professor, and a relationship with her boyfriend, Carter (Israel Broussard). She's rough around the edges, a little bit selfish, and not...

Video Exclusive: Deon Taylor & Joseph Sikora On What Scares Them The Most, Their Movie ‘Fear’
Image
Director Deon Taylor and lead actor Joseph Sikora discussed filming their movie Fear during the height of Covid-19 as well as what scares them the most – on set and in their personal lives – in their new uInterview.

When asked about the most memorable behind-the-scenes moment, Taylor explained that it was “the overall agenda of why we made the movie,” he told uInterview exclusively.

“I think a lot of people are just now finding out that this was the first movie that was up and running during the global pandemic,” Taylor explained. “It started with me and Jo making phone calls and asking people to just come to this abandoned cabin and make this film.”

“We shot this film in 16 days, 18 days,” Sikora later added. Taylor believes that it was after people realized how they made the movie that they began to understand the story and how hard it was to...

Fear (2023) Review
Image
Plot: A much-needed getaway and celebration weekend becomes a nightmare due to a contagious airborne threat.

Review: Fear is universal, and it’s prevalent in nearly every horror movie since the dawn of cinema. Whether it’s a monster feeding off a victim’s fear to grow stronger or to make their meal tastier, it’s an element that’s been the center of many stories. So it’s great to see a film take so many everyday fears like drowning and claustrophobia and see them amplified by the supernatural. Because if there’s one thing the viewer can understand quickly, it’s fear.

Fear is one of the first movies filmed in 2020 after Covid upended the world. And this is in every bit of the film’s DNA. There’s an airborne contagion; the world seems to end, and they’re paranoid of each other. Sound familiar? While it...

Second Trailer for January Horror Film 'Fear' at the Strawberry Lodge
Image
"It's playing backwards…" What does it mean when a record plays backwards, oh no?! Hidden Empire has revealed a second official trailer for Fear, releasing in theaters in just a few more weeks. This one looks like it's worth skipping. A new film made by director Deon Taylor, best known for his films The Intruder, Fatale, and Black and Blue. A year into living through a worldwide pandemic, a small group of friends gather in the remote Tahoe Mountains to stay at the "Historic Strawberry Lodge". But celebration turns to terror as one by one each guest faces their own worst fear. The horror movie stars Joseph Sikora, T.I., King Bach, Terrence J, Ruby Modine, Annie Ilonzeh, Iddo Goldberg, and Jessica Allain. This looks instantly forgettable and annoyingly derivative. They even had to stuff the trailer with a bunch of boring "evil" quotes. ›››

Confronting Fears in a Creepy Lodge in First Trailer for 'Fear' Horror
Image
"Believing what you fear will bring to the victim what they are afraid of." Hidden Empire has debuted an official trailer for Fear, yet another January horror film releasing at the end of the first month in the New Year. From director Deon Taylor, best known for his films The Intruder, Fatale, and Black and Blue. A year into living through a worldwide pandemic, a group of friends gather in the remote Tahoe Mountains to stay at the "Historic Strawberry Lodge". But celebration turns to terror as one by one each guest faces their own worst fear. Plenty of other films have had this "confront your fears" concept, so what's the hook in this one?? The horror movie stars Joseph Sikora, T.I., King Bach, Terrence J, Ruby Modine, Annie Ilonzeh, Iddo Goldberg, and Jessica Allain. Not a very good trailer, with erratic editing making it extra confusing to know what...

The Survivalist review – John Malkovich drops in on bleak vision of a hellish postviral US
Ruby Modine
Jon Keeyes’ siege drama paints a lawless future for American society, though endless flashbacks drain the tension

This postapocalyptic action thriller that posits a United States where nearly everyone has nearly been wiped out by the Delta variant of Covid-19 apparently went into post-production in December 2020. Presumably, they finished shooting just as the variant was emerging but before the vaccine went into wide distribution. At least that would explain why it feels so weirdly dated, even though it’s set in the future. In this version of America, things have got so out of control society has completely broken down. Who knows, maybe it’s not dated but predictive?

Anyway, in this bleak alternative reality, life is even worse than the one we’re in now. A young woman named Sarah (Ruby Modine) and her brother Guy (Tom Pecinka) are on the run, hoping to escape a gang of armed...
