Acorn TV Announces U.S. Premiere Of Midsomer Murders 20th Season
Midsomer Murders is one of the most popular series in British television history, and Acorn TV has offered up a surprise announcement that the 20th season is now available in its U.S. Premiere. The 20th season features six episodes: The Ghost of Causton Abbey, Death of the Small Coppers, Drawing Dead, The Lions of Causton, ‘Til Death Do Us Part, and Send in the Clowns. It’s a show that has obviously evolved over the course of its impressive run, but it has always seemed a show that takes a serious look at itself, and has thus only improved with age. Inspired by the novels of Caroline Graham, the series stars Neil Dudgeon as Detective Chief Inspector John Barnaby and Nick Hendrix as Detective Sergeant Jamie Winter. Anglophiles have long loved the show that not only offers a pointedly British viewpoint with respect to its own genre, but also...

‘Midsomer Murders’ To Air On U.S. Svod Services Acorn TV & BritBox Ahead Of UK Debut On ITV
Annette Badland, Neil Dudgeon, and Nick Hendrix in Inspecteur Barnaby (1997)
Updated: U.S. streaming services Acorn TV and BritBox are to air episodes of long-running British crime drama Midsomer Murders ahead of their debut in the UK – a surprising coup for the Svod platforms.

This comes after the two companies snapped up a deal with All3Media International to acquire the 20th season of the Bentley Productions crime drama. Acorn began airing episodes on May 3, while BBC and ITV-backed BritBox will begin airing episodes from the latest season in the U.S. on May 4. Both will appear before they air on commissioning broadcaster ITV, which has still yet to air all of the episodes from season 19.

Based on Caroline Graham’s book series and originally adapted by Anthony Horowitz, the long-running mystery follows the efforts of Detective Chief Inspector John Barnaby, played by Neil Dudgeon, as he solves crimes that occur in the wealthy, isolated English county of Midsomer. While...

'Operation Slut', 'Medics' sitcoms in development for Comedy Central
Viacom International Media Networks has announced multi-camera sitcom development projects Operation Slut and Medics for Comedy Central.

An agreement has been signed with Tom Edge to adapt Operation Slut, while a pilot for Medics has been green lit to shoot next month.

"Medics is a laugh-out-loud sitcom that perfectly combines adolescent humour with fast-paced drama while Operation Slut is a hilarious satire of modern-day relationships - both of which sit perfectly within our channel portfolio," said by Jill Offman, managing director of Comedy Central UK and senior vice president of international content at Comedy Central.

Operation Slut was originally written by Taii K. Austin (Underemployed, Nurse Jackie, Scrubs, Ugly Betty) and will be adapted by British writer Edge (Pramface, Threesome, The Midnight Beast) for international broadcast.

The show is about 30-year-old marriage-focused "neurotic do-gooder" Ivy who on being proposed to is not ready to settle down, and instead embarks on...
