Phil attended Carson-Newman College in Tennessee for one semester before transferring to Five Towns College in New York, his home state.

Phil was employed at Five Towns College as the film division's operations manager before he graduated in his senior year, and held the position full time after graduating before moving on to peruse his film career independently.

Phil used to compete in local tournaments for the "Super Smash Brothers" series on Nintendo platforms, and even placed in a few to take home small cash prizes.

In 11th grade, Phil Co-directed and shot a 22 minute short comedy called "A Day in the Life of a CIA Agent" in video class for his teacher, Peter May.

Phil started making movies in 5th grade on a small consumer digital camera.

Phil is the exact same height as actor Martin Freeman, who he is frequently compared to in terms of likeness.
