Sunny Tripathy is a Canadian Indian-American screenwriter who paid his way through UCLA with day jobs that included working at Jamba Juice, teaching at a Yeshiva Gedolah, and modeling for Indian grocery stores- which is not a joke. He sold his first TV show to 20th Century Fox out of college and sold a pilot with Sony Television and Will Arnett to Amazon after a highly competitive bidding war. His foray into features started with selling an original comedy spec to Tristar with Ivan Reitman and Amie Karp and he is now writing features for Sony Pictures Animation, Netflix, and Disney where he is adapting a live-action IP with the producers of Lord of the Rings. In TV, he also has projects in development at places like Jax Media. In 2024, Tripathy closed a deal to write a major animated feature for Dreamworks Animation. He is signed to UTA and is a part of the Writers Guild of America.
