Giovanna is a producer of features for TV and cinema and runs the indie production house Native Voice Films. She has been developing, producing and financing independent international productions since 2006 for Netflix, BBC, HBO, Amazon, Arte, France 2 and others. Her work has premiered at Sundance, Berlinale, Toronto, Idfa & Sarajevo. Giovanna graduated in law in Italy before then working in hostile environments across Africa with grass root peace negotiation and regeneration projects. She is based in London, UK and Palermo, Italy. Giovanna is the lead producer for the Bengali Detective (2011) which premiered at Sundance and Berlinale, was bought by HBO, optioned for a remake by Fox Searchlight and won a Grierson award; The Japan-based feature Love Hotel in a uk-france co-production with oscar winning company bonne pioche which premiered at toronto, and showcased on netflix usa, bbc storyville, france 2, and had a cinema release in the uk. She also produced Betty - They say I'm Different which premiered at idfa and New York City FF, featured on Arte France, BBC Storyville, Amazon; the 2020 feature The Cleaner set in Mexico City for France 2. Her 2022 work The Spider-Man of Sudan, for the Guardian and Arte, won the Prix Bayeux Calvados and Hinzpeter award. She is the lead producer of Khartoum, the creative feature documentary premiering at both Sundance and Berlinale in 2025. Giovanna is also the director of R.E.A.C.T - refugee education across conflicts trust - a uk charity working with those from a migratory background to access education and a dignified life.
