Percussionist, pianist, composer, orchestrator, arranger, educator, writer, strategist, and cultural policy consultant - Sidney Hopson is a consummate arts professional.

He is a member of the Grammy-nominated ensemble WildUp. A southern California native, he has performed for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, LA Chamber Orchestra, Pasadena Symphony & POPS, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Los Angeles Opera, Synchromy, ReCollective Orchestra, San Bernardino Symphony, Jacaranda Chamber Ensemble, Southeast Symphony, Opera Santa Barbara, Juneau Symphony, and the Echo Society.

An alum of the Academy Awards Orchestra, Spoleto Festival USA, Coachella Festival, Colour of Music Festival, Ojai Music Festival, American Music Awards, Lincoln Center Festival, and Hear Now Music Festival, Hopson has performed and recorded alongside a vast range of artists, including: John Adams, Adele, Andy Akiho, Billie Eilish, Burt Bacharach, James Conlon, Keith David, Deru, John Debney, Bell Biv Devoe, Lamont Dozier, Earth Wind & Fire, Danny Elfman, Peter Eötvös, Rhiannon Giddens, Robert Glasper, Philip Glass, Mickey Guyton, MC Jin, Chaka Khan, Alicia Keys, the Kronos Quartet, Seth MacFarlane, Ricky Martin, Rickey Minor, the New York Philharmonic, Ellen Reid, Rhianna, Mr. Craig Robinson, The Roots, Huang Ruo, Kaija Saariaho, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Jermaine Stegall, Dara Taylor, Joseph Trapanese, Dionne Warwick, John Williams, Harry Gregson-Williams, Stevie Wonder, and more.

As a consultant, Hopson produces arts programs, strategic plans, policy, and legislation for cultural organizations, government agencies, NGOs, and arts workers in the United States and abroad. His work focuses on the intersections of the arts and social justice, education, labor, mental health, crime prevention, counterterrorism, international development, refugee aid, geopolitics, and climate change. He is currently developing a record label in Jordan to support refugee-artists and bolster human rights protections across the Middle East, and he looks forward to sharing this work at the upcoming World Forum on Democracy & Peace in Berlin.

Hopson's recent interview and guest lecture appearances include: Voyage LA Magazine, California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), Music Academy of the West, Trilloquoy, Loose Leaf Notebook, Living With a Genius, and The Millennial Musician.

When he isn't working, Hopson can be found reading, hiking, bicycling, laughing at his own dad jokes (he isn't a dad), and perfecting recipes in the kitchen.
