Alessandra Cardone

Alessandra was born in Milan. She graduated in Philosophy, specializing in Aesthetics at Università Statale di Milano; meanwhile she won a scholarship and spent one year in Barcelona (Universitàt Autònoma) and 6 months in London studying Critic of Art. Back in Milan, she was copywriter for big advertising agencies, such as TBWA and Euro RSCG (Havas Group). Her love for movies made her study screenwriting with the dramaturg Gaetano Sansone; Waiting for Hollywood (Aspettando Hollywood) was her first short film, selected by many festivals. She won a Special Mention at Nastri d'Argento for Boxing Paradise screenplay. She went on shooting commercials, directed and often written by her, documentaries and short films screened by various festivals, including My Friend Johnny, selected at Venice Days (Venezia Film Festival). She attended various workshops and master classes on Direction, Acting and Writing, also ran by Silvio Soldini, Pierfrancesco Favino, Gianni Amelio, Francesca Jaynes, Aaron Sorkin. She made documentary films like In Love With Shakespeare (Filmmaker Film Festival) screened at the London Italian Institute (Shakespeare's Century, 2016) and purchased by SkyHD. She was in pre-production of Damaged Profiles (Profili Imperfetti), her first feature film, for which she obtained the Development Fund by Mibact/CNC and by Liguria Film Comm, but has been suspended because of Covid-19. She conceived the series The Wine Stories, of which she wrote and shot the first episode The Madeleine and the Stranger (La Madeleine e lo Straniero), awarded in many festivals all over the world and purchased by RAI Cinema. She created a new tv format, Winery Masters- Maestri di Cantina, from October 2023 on Mediaset Infinity. She collaborated to the screenplay of the docu-series The Wine of the Champions (produced and directed by Julio Sonino, KrH Media, Miami-U.S) for the American market. She wrote the tv format on the practice of coaching Good People (Nov.2022). She is still working for some brands'advertising campaigns, such as Guri I Zi, Amourrina Jewels, TES H2. Selected by Torino Film Lab (June 2018) she developed her feature film L'Abbaglio, with which she won the Apulia Development Film Fund and shot in April 2022 with Scirocco Films. It was presented at Cinemaitalia Film Festival Cascais, Portugal (June 2024) and at Otranto Film Festival (September 2024) where it won the Audience Award. It will be distributed in cinemas by 102- Unicorn Distribution. Il Mare d'Inverno will be her second feature film.
