If you ever see rumors about Pretty Little Liars' Ashley Benson dating someone, it's probably not true. She told the Huffington Post:

That I’m dating all of my friends. Every time I’m hanging out with Tyler [Blackburn], Keegan [Allen], my friend Isaac, my friends who are girls, I’m dating all of them. It’s very strange. I have a new boyfriend, a new girlfriend every week. But I’m single and I don’t have a boyfriend.

The Gracies, named in honor of the legendary Gracie Allen, recognize the realistic and faceted portrayal of women in entertainment, news and other media.

Cast members Meg Tilly, Jodi Balfour, Charlotte Hegele, and Ali Liebert hit the red carpet at the awards gala and talked about their show, the Gracies, and all the women that work on the show. From what they say, it sounds like Bomb Girls and the Alliance from Women in Media Foundation are a match made in heaven.

"Bomb Girls" is dead! Long live "Bomb Girls"!

Today, Global TV was expected to announce that our beloved Bomb Girls was being cancelled after only two seasons.

The sounds of lamentation echoed across the blogosphere, but a campaign sprung up to save the show, and twitter united in a last ditch effort to #savebombgirls. Some internet genius got ahold of the email addresses of some Global executives, and we pled with them to give some closure, give us just one more glimpse of characters we’ve come to love.

Well it’s a hard world, and like the song says, you can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you get a two hour movie coming in winter 2014.

So, now that we know that the powers that be actually listen to us, let’s talk about what we want from the movie.

1. Musical numbers

"Bomb Girls" recap (2.9): Hoochie-coochie girls
Tags: Bomb Girls recapsBomb GirlsRosie O' DonnellIMDbAli Liebert

Previously on Bomb Girls, Gladys became a spy, which we never knew we always wanted, Betty fought for her right to be the gayest lady this side of Idgie Thredgood, Kate decided to give back to the world through song, Lorna missed Bob/having control over multiple lives, and Vera was perfect at all times and in all outfits.

When we open this week, the women are congregating outside the factory for their morning gossip/blissfully guilt-free cigarettes, when Vera alerts Kate to an advertisement for auditions for an upcoming show.

Kate: An “all-girl review?” Is that like the thing where you look at everyone in the locker rooms? Not that I do that, of course.

Betty: Not “review,” “revue.” Ugh, I can’t believe I used to be into you.

Ivan: Well, whatever it is, my gal doesn’t need to be reviewing any other ladies.

There's no doubt about the fact that Bomb Girls' Betty (Ali Liebert) has it bad for Kate (Charlotte Hegele), but how does Kate really feel about her Bff Betty? With Kate's private and shy nature (and the brilliant and ambiguous acting choices made by Hegele), it's difficult to tell what's going on in Kate's heart, so we decided to poll fans to see what they think. Does Kate just love Betty as a sister? Is Kate in love with Betty but afraid to follow her feelings? Or maybe Kate has had a traumatic few months and doesn't need the added stress of a budding romantic relationship right now. Tell us what you think.

This Wednesday, March 29th at 8p Et/ 5p Pt, the second season of the award-winning drama Bomb Girls is coming to Reelz, with the season's first two episodes airing back to back. We can't wait to see the new episodes and find out what our favorite VicMu girls, Gladys (Jodi Balfour), Lorna (Meg Tilly), Kate (Charlotte Hegele), Betty (Ali Liebert) and Vera (Anatasia Phillips), are up to. They all had plenty going on when season one of Bomb Girls came to a close. Gladys' fiance had enlisted in the Army and her parents were livid that she had been working on the factory floor for months. Meanwhile, Lorna took a pregnancy test that came back positive after her interlude with Marco, and to make matters worse, her daughter, Sheila, seems to have a crush on Marco, too. Charlotte Hegele: Yeah, I am 22. Thank you so much.

A Couple of Bomb Girls Talk 1940s Music and Unrequited Love in Second Podcast
Yesterday, Bomb Girls fans had a chance to listen in on a conversation with Ali Liebert and Charlotte "Charlie" Hegele as part of a Mindshmootz podcast. Now the second half of the convo has also been made available, and it's even more intriguing than the first.

In the second podcast, the music of the series is discussed, as well as the changes that can be expected in the upcoming season two. "Bomb Girls" recap (2.4): Mrs. Beaverton, I presume?
Tags: Bomb GirlsBomb Girls recapsIMDbAli Liebert

Good morning and welcome to the most action-packed episode of Bomb Girls yet. Last week, Kate delved into a life of sin in an attempt to gain more jazz credibility, Betty let Ivan make all kinds of hockey metaphors in the back seat of his car in an attempt to gain some hetero credibility, and Lorna’s son, Eugene arrived home on leave from Europe.

Ok. Right from the get-go I have serious reservations about Eugene, who the show opens dancing in the living room with Sheila. To the untrained eye, the scene is as wholesome as a Rockwell painting, but I’ve found that there is a direct correlation between a man’s assholism and his conviction that everyone he meets needs to see the outline of his penis, and that whole long underwear/temple garb ensemble leaves far too little to the imagination.

Bomb Girls (2012)
Reelz Will Air Season Two of WWII Drama 'Bomb Girls,' With Rosie O'Donnell Set to Guest Star
Bomb Girls (2012)
ReelzChannel, which launched as a network dedicated to programming about movies in theaters and on VOD, has been making forays into acquired scripted programming -- ones that have included the Stuart Townsend spy series "Xiii" (on which Roger Avary is working). "Bomb Girls," another Canadian show, premiered on the network in September, a drama set in Toronto during World War II as a group of women work in a munitions factory, their jobs both a way to help the war effort and to get independence. The first season cast included Meg Tilly, Jodi Balfour, Ali Liebert and Charlotte Hegele. "Bomb Girls" recap (1.4): Swing it, shake it, get in lots of fights.
Tags: Bomb GirlsReelzAli LiebertIMDb

So first of all, this:

All horn-tooting aside, the part I like best is “Betty means the world to me,” because it really shows. Really the whole cast — Charlotte Hegele, Jodi Balfour and Meg Tilly — come into their own more and more with every episode, which is a little bittersweet since this season is almost over."

Now, this is my favorite episode to date so let’s jump right into the action.

Blue Shift is just minutes away from finishing Victory Munitions’ millionth bomb — you remember the bombs right, those things that kill people and one of them lives in Archie’s chest now—but let’s not forget who the real enemy is in this war: Red Shift. Those hacks are waiting in the wings for the chance to steal all the glory.

Blue Shift is our ally. We have always been at war with Red Shift.

Hello and welcome to Bomb Girls, a show about Canadian factory workers during the Second World War. But wait! Come back! While this might sound like a figurative as well as literal bomb at first, you dismiss it at your peril. At its best, it has elements of Mad Men’s textured vintage style and Downton Abbey’s sugary soap opera, mixed with a bracing tablespoon of social commentary. These are obviously lofty comparisons, and the show falls short of them often in its freshman season, but it does have one claim on our affections no other can offer.

This is Betty, the embodiment of all that is good and plucky in this world, and our Very Own Canadian Lesbian. Soon you will either want to be her, be with her, or like me, a pleasantly confusing combination of the two.

Now that I have your attention,...

Bomb Girls Episode One Recap
This is not folly. It's war.

It was war, silk stockings, and scalping in the series premiere of the new Reelz original series Bomb Girls.

Bomb Girls takes place in 1941, just as World War II is accelerating in Europe. Back home, women are taking the place of men in the workplace, including the bomb factory Victory Munitions.

Right away we are introduced to our Gladys Witham (Jodi Balfour), the only daughter of a wealthy businessman. We learn that she's engaged and that her fiance is working with her father to secure some lucrative military contracts. Right away we can see that she's not comfortable with her comfortable and privileged life. Next, we meet the young Kate Andrews (Charlotte Hegele), though not her real name, who runs away from home (with help from her mother) to avoid her abusive father and ends up in the boarding home that houses the girls who work at Victory Munitions,...

Morning Brew - Tues. Aug. 14: Jodie Foster helms a female mob boss show, Wendi McLendon-Covey plays a lesbian on "Modern Family"

Good morning!

Jodie Foster is developing a female-centric mob series for Showtime. Angie’s Body is said to be "a Sopranos-like drama that follows a shrewd and lethal woman who runs a family-based crime syndicate." It doesn't look like Jodie will star in it, but she is going to direct and executive produce. It's Showtime so I hope there are lesbians.

Remember when Wendi McLendon-Covey got drunk and kissed Ellie Kemper in Bridesmaids? Well now she's committing to being a lesbian on Modern Family. The funny lady will be playing "one-half of a lesbian couple whose son gets into a fight with Lily on the first day of kindergarten." Michaela Watkins will be her wife and Wendi tells EW:

I can’t wait. I go in and film it tomorrow and Wednesday and Thursday.

The First Scenes from Bomb Girls Reveal What Brought the Ladies to the Factory
Sometimes, character exposition is doled out slowly in a long, meandering series of probing sequences. Other times, storytellers cut right to the heart of the characters in a very short amount of time. Bomb Girls most definitely fits into the latter category.

In this new three-minute clip from the original series about a group of women working in a bomb factory during WWII, we find out all the essentials about what's going on in the lives of Gladys (Jodi Balfour), Lorna (Meg Tilly) and Kate (Charlotte Hegele). Though Gladys lives a life of wealth and privilege, only a few moments with her character reveal that she can't get everything she wants with looks and money. Lorna needs her job, even though it adds another degree of difficulty to what is already a strained marriage. Kate, meanwhile, is seeking salvation and the munitions factory might just be her sanctuary.

You play Jim McAlister on Arctic Air, what is that guy all about?

Jim is a fun-loving best buddy with a big heart. He's stoked to have Bobby (Adam Beach) back in town. He's a prospector and trusts Bobby to the fullest. He'll do anything to protect his friends, family and the North.

What is it like working on a all Canadian production as opposed to a U.S. production that is being filmed in Canada?

I love home grown projects. Most of the U.S. projects are about situations, not about where they are shooting.

An interview with Ali Liebert of "Bomb Girls"
Canadian show Bomb Girls is all about the women, which is likely why it's been such a big hit with gay women. But there's also the character of Betty McRae, a Rosie the Riveter type with a confident swagger that noticeably sets her apart from her more feminine counterparts. Ali Liebert plays Betty, the tough-talking, take-no-crap from her male peers bombmaker who seems to soften only in the presence of her co-worker Kate (Charlotte Hegele).

Ali said she took her inspiration for Betty from the likes of James Dean, Bette Davis and Katherine Hepburn, which is probably why she's so effective. "I can be very feminine or masculine and I turned up the masculine dial," Ali said. "I don't walk like her, so as an actor it was so fun finding her general physical presence. It was definitely something I've never really played before which was exciting for me."

Bomb Girls with Meg Tilly premieres in Canada tonight
Meg Tilly's new show Bomb Girls premieres at 8 pm on Global in Canada tonight.

A few new interviews with her showed up in recent days. First, she was on George Stroumboulopoulos this week. The clip can't be embedded, but you can see the interview on CBC.ca.

MSN Entertainment has an article about the show and Meg's return to acting (yes, Caprica gets a mention, too). Snippet about Bomb Girls:

Lorna is Tilly's character Lorna Corbett, the middle-aged shift matron at Victory Munitions. Married to a crippled Wwi vet and with two sons fighting in Europe, Lorna watches over the women of Blue Shift, but her blind patriotism and harsh ways make her an object not only of respect but of fear amongst her young female charges, including the wealthy but naïve Gladys Witham (Jodi Balfour). I ask Tilly how important it was for her that Lorna does not come off as villainous.
