A truly humorous series is coming to Netflix U.S. for the first time ever, after ending its five-season run nearly a decade ago. House of Lies, starring Marvel star Don Cheadle, will find its way to the platform next month with all fifty-eight episodes, but it remains uncertain how long it will stay on. Created by Matthew Carnahan, the comedy premiered on January 8, 2012, as an adaptation of the 2005 book of the same name by Martin Kihn. Later on May 17, 2016, Showtime cancelled the show, with the series finale airing June 12, 2016.

After some speculation about the viability of a sixth season of House Of Lies, Showtime has confirmed that the comedy will not be renewed past its fifth season finale – due to air on June 12th, 2016. The announcement of series co-star Kristen Bell joining new NBC show The Good Place caused some to question whether House Of Lies would indeed return – although all involved insisted the actress could undertake both projects simultaneously. There’s no longer any need to accommodate such a schedule, however, as House Of Lies officially prepares to shutter its windows.
President and CEO of Showtime Networks Inc, David Nevins, praised the cast, crew and creators of the show, as he announced its cancellation.

House of Lies makes its DVD debut this week. The darkly humorous series details the bawdy adventures of management consultant, and horrible-person extraordinaire, Marty Kaan and his crack team of misfits as they banter, flirt and offend their way through the boardrooms of America.
The release is the perfect opportunity for Golden Globe viewers to see the show that won Don Cheadle his 2013 best actor award and for fans of Californication to judge its most enthusiastic imitator.
Cheadle plays Marty, the fast-talking con-man who uses his smarts and skill for misdirection to land the big fish CEOs his firm feasts upon and to evade the women lingering in his revolving bedroom door. Kristen Bell is Ivy League grad Jeannie, Marty’s right hand woman and partner in corporate crime. The duo, together with sidekicks Doug and Clyde, criss-cross the domestic skies from Monday to Thursday delivering disquiet and insecurity to the companies who engage them.

Former "Veronica Mars" star Kristen Bell currently plays management consultant Jeannie Van Der Hooven on Showtime's "House of Lies," her first regular role in five years. On returning to series TV she admits, "I missed being on a show. I like the consistency; I'm very much like a dog in that way that I like the routine, and I like seeing the same people at work. I feel like it bolsters my creative process, makes me a happier individual on- and off-set. I love doing movies, but it feels so nomadic sometimes." Well, like their characters on House of Lies, it seems that Don Cheadle and company know how to get things done. The Showtime series has been renewed for a second season.

If we’re willing to root for a pot-selling mom in Weeds and a narcissistic alcoholic in Shameless, can we possibly identify with a conniving, cutthroat management consultant that appears to have only money and sex on his mind?
Showtime looks to pose that question with their latest antihero dark comedy, House of Lies (“Hol”), starring the incomparable Don Cheadle and based on the Martin Kihn book, House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time.

This hardly sums up the profession, but Hol does achieve a level of hyperbole and cynicism about overall corporate greed that will either be entertaining for people in the know or infuriating for those who...

I was a junior consultant when I read Martin Kihn's House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time. By then, I had stolen a few watches myself.
The argument of Kihn's book -- that management consulting is a conspiracy to squeeze millions of dollars from unwitting companies, that consultants are often unqualified but politically astute mercenaries, and that many of the problems that plague companies are intractable and probably not worth solving anyway -- started to carry some weight after two years of consulting. I had discovered, sadly, that there is a healthy degree of bullshit in corporate life, and that consulting as an industry can profit from it.
The consequences are huge, and that's what makes the profession so exhilarating. Give a group of motivated people the opportunity to change the course of a company, and they will create fantastic or disastrous effects.

Marty Kaan (played by Don Cheadle) is juggling a lot of plates in Showtime’s new comedy series “House of Lies.” The first-world burdens of a single male and rainmaker who earns seven figures, really, but juggling them all the same.
(The full “House of Lies” pilot episode is embedded below.)
He wakes up in his bed (overlooking L.A.) with a sexy, nude, catatonic woman, who just happens to be his ex-wife Monica! “Don’t f*ck your ex-wife,” Marty tells us emphatically, as if that isn’t obvious by this ordeal and general common sense. Monica (Dawn Olivieri) cleans up nice, though, and rears her gorgeous head later as one of Marty’s professional rivals in the cutthroat arena of high-priced management consulting.
We know she is Marty’s ex-wife, “a sociopath and an addict,” because the characters say so, out loud, so we’re up to speed.

[1] Dexter and Homeland ended their respective seasons last month, but the New Year brings some promising new reasons not to cancel your Showtime subscription just yet. Both Californication and Shameless are set to premiere this Sunday, as does the one I've really been looking forward to -- freshman series House of Lies. Based on a memoir by Martin Kihn, the series stars Don Cheadle as a successful but self-loathing management consultant, with Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz, and Josh Lawson rounding out the cast as Cheadle's colleagues. The network has put the entire first episode online ahead of its January 8 debut, and you can watch it after the jump. Be warned, however, that although the video has been modified for nudity and language, it's not exactly workplace-friendly. Showtime for Kristen Bell and House Of Lies
It really feels like we’ve been waiting for House of Lies to surface since that stench over headliner Don Cheadle and his super hero replacement in the Iron Man franchise was still fresh. Well, part of the wait is over this week as we enjoy the view of fresh new key art.
House of Lies is a new series coming to Showtime. It will make it’s debut on January 8th on the same network that brings you Dexter and Shameless. Lies is created by Matthew Carnahan, the talent behind the ’06 series Dirt and Thieves from ’01. It is based upon the Martin Kihn book, House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time. That’s a mouthful.
Don Cheadle is primarily a film actor, but many stars make successful transitions into carrying TV shows.

Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell in Showtime’s House Of Lies Trailer
Want to see Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell do a little dance to promote their new show, House of Lies, premiering on Showtime in January? You get your wish! Cheadle, Bell and the rest of the cast (which includes the extremely talented Ben Schwartz. Jean-Ralphio anyone?) come out in suits and get themselves in a nice intense pose, and then they awkwardly look to Cheadle for instruction.
He even shushes Bell when she tries to speak. What’s he waiting for? Oh! He’s waiting for the “We’ve got big balls” line in the song to come on. Now they can start dancing. So I take it this is a comedy then? Sweet.
And that’s the trailer, which came from HitFix, but you can view it down below at your leisure. The premise of Houes of Lies is a simple one.

Showtime has released the first promo for their new comedy House of Lies. It doesn't tell you anything about the show, which centers on "a team of cutthroat management consultants who will do anything in their pursuit of money." In fact, it's just stars Don Cheadle, Kristin Bell, Ben Schwartz, Josh Lawson, and Dawn Oliveri in one of those bare, grayish sets designed for promo shoots. But the clip (and Cheadle especially) are so infectiously silly, I got a big laugh out of it. The cast drew me in, but now I definitely want to see more. House of Lies premieres on January 8. If you don't mind a bit of juvenile humor, watch the promo after the jump. Via Hitfix: Has Cheadle always been this silly? It’s not all going to be work and back-stabbing in Showtime’s House of Lies, according to the latest from TVLine, because Kristen Bell’s Jeannie will have two love interests to juggle for a little while.
Michael Rady (Greek, Melrose Place) has joined the series in the recurring role of Wes, a wealthy guy that might be a little too far on the conservative side to give Jeannie the thrills she’s looking for.
Fortunately for her, Nick Stahl (The Speed of Thought, Dead Awake) will be visiting for one episode as Kurt, a musician that makes Jeannie question what she wants out of life and love. Considering that she’s an ivy league graduate with her eye looking towards the top of the corporate ladder, it’s safe to say a cushy job with a nice paycheck is probably at the top of her list.

Kristen Bell’s dance card on House of Lies is officially pretty damn full.
The new Showtime comedy has cast Melrose Place‘s Michael Rady and Carnivàle‘s Nick Stahl as love interests for Bell’s corporate consultant character, Jeannie, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Rady will play the recurring role of Wes, a moneyed golden boy who may be a bit too conservative for Jeannie. Stahl, meanwhile, will guest star in one episode as Kurt, a musician who makes Jeannie question what she wants out of life and love (my guess: no-strings sex with a hot musician).

Griffin Dunne is going to be getting his hands dirty this season as THR brings word that he’s joining Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell in Showtime’s new House of Lies. The new series, already cleared for 12 episodes, is based on the book, House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time, by Martin Kihn.
Dunne will appear in a multi-episode arc as a world-famous consultant that teams up with less-than-ethical management consultant Marty (Cheadle) and Ivy League graduate, Jeannie Van Der Hooven (Bell). The series also stars Dawn Olivieri as Marty’s ex-wife, who also runs a consulting firm and might be even more devious than her ex-husband.
In addition to his role in House of Lies, Dunne, who was busy last year as a judge on CBS’s The Good Wife, will also be showing up as a reporter on the...

It's Showtime for Kristen Bell and Claire Danes.
The network has picked up House of Lies, a comedy starring the former Veronica Mars star and Gossip Girl narrator, and Homeland, starring the award-winning Danes.
Bell and Oscar nominee Don Cheadle will headline Lies, based on Martin Kihn’s hit tell-all book How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time.
The show revolves around dueling corporate consulting firms. Bell plays Jeannie, a Brown grad who reluctantly finds herself attracted to co-worker Marty (Cheadle).
Homeland, meanwhile, is a thriller about a CIA officer (Danes) convinced that intel leading to the rescue of a presumed-dead U.S. soldier (Damian Lewis) was a setup.
She feels it may be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil. Mandy Patinkin also stars as a veteran CIA Division Chief who mentors her.

Following the successful debuts of four critically acclaimed, new original hit series - The Big C, Shameless, Episodes and The Borgias - Showtime Networks and President of Entertainment David Nevins, will be adding two more original series to the premium channel's line-up. Homeland, a one hour drama starring Emmy Award winner Claire Danes, Golden Globe nominee Damian Lewis and Emmy and Tony Award winner Mandy Patinkin, and House of Lies, a half-hour comedy starring Academy Award-nominated actor Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell, have received 12 episode orders. Both series will start production during the summer of 2011.
"On the heels of successfully launching our four freshman series in the last 8 months, we're excited to introduce the next wave of Showtime shows," said Nevins. "Homeland and House of Lies are audacious in both their concept and their casting. They build upon the network's successful pedigree and expand the definition of what a Showtime series can be.

We last mentioned this in early December – Don Cheadle’s new dark comedy TV series, House Of Lies, based on the book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time by Martin Kihn.
House Of Lies is described as a subversive, scathing look at a self-loathing management consultant from a top-tier firm. Cheadle will star as Marty, a highly successful, cutthroat consultant who will use any means (or anyone) necessary to get his clients the information that they want.
A pilot episode was shot in February, and, apparently, the Showtime Network has loved all they’ve seen and read thus far, enough to pick up the pilot and order 12 episodes of the series.
Production will happen over the summer, likely for a 2012 debut.
Joining Cheadle in the cast are Heroes alum Dawn Olivieri, who will play Monica, Marty’s “crazy, pill-popping ex-wife and biggest...

TV fans are still getting to know the name Dawn Olivieri, but they may recognize the actress as tattoo-laden Lydia from Heroes’ fourth and final season, or as Janice Herveaux, Alcide’s sister who helped turn Sookie into a biker chic in season 3 of True Blood. If, like us, you’ve been confused about how much Damon is actually forcing Andie to forget, Olivieri is happy to explain: “The only time you’ve seen Andie herself,...

Finally, Veronica Mars is returning to our TV screens.
Ok, sorry. Not Veronica Mars, but someone who looks exactly like her: Kristen Bell. Bell has joined the cast of the new Showtime pilot House of Lies, which starts production this month. We haven’t seen Bell on television for more than guest roles since her stint on Heroes in 2008.

Kristen Bell made a name for herself playing the smart-as-a-whip teen detective in the cult TV show Veronica Mars and is returning to television to portray another piercingly intelligent gal in Showtime’s new series, House of Lies.
Bell will star opposite Don Cheadle in the darkly satirical show, which is based off a novel by Martin Kihn titled House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time, and was scripted by Matthew Carnahan (Dirt).
House of Lies revolves around Marty (Cheadle), a very successful, cutthroat management consultant who’s willing to use any means necessary to satisfy a client’s demands. Last December we heard that Don Cheadle signed on to star in their dark comedy series House of Lies from Matthew Carnahan, creator and writer of the FX series Dirt. Based on Martin Kihn’s book of the same name, the half-hour comedy follows Marty (Cheadle), a highly successful, cutthroat consultant who is never above using any means (or anyone) necessary to get his clients the information they want. Now Showtime has announced that Kristen Bell, who first made waves on TV as Veronica Mars, has landed the role of Jeannie Van Der Hooven, a razor-sharp, Ivy-League graduate who works at Marty’s firm. Stephen Hopkins is directing the pilot with production beginning this month, so we'll be looking forward to checking the show out later this year.
