A truly humorous series is coming to Netflix U.S. for the first time ever, after ending its five-season run nearly a decade ago. House of Lies, starring Marvel star Don Cheadle, will find its way to the platform next month with all fifty-eight episodes, but it remains uncertain how long it will stay on. Created by Matthew Carnahan, the comedy premiered on January 8, 2012, as an adaptation of the 2005 book of the same name by Martin Kihn. Later on May 17, 2016, Showtime cancelled the show, with the series finale airing June 12, 2016.

On Wednesday, July 23, House of Lies arrives on Netflix, per What's on Netflix, taking fans back to the eventful days of Cheadle’s charming Marty Kaan. Although this marks the first time the show has been available on Netflix U.S., it has been streamed in select other territories for periods of time, as reports have shown Netflix in Canada...

After some speculation about the viability of a sixth season of House Of Lies, Showtime has confirmed that the comedy will not be renewed past its fifth season finale – due to air on June 12th, 2016. The announcement of series co-star Kristen Bell joining new NBC show The Good Place caused some to question whether House Of Lies would indeed return – although all involved insisted the actress could undertake both projects simultaneously. There’s no longer any need to accommodate such a schedule, however, as House Of Lies officially prepares to shutter its windows.

I was a junior consultant when I read Martin Kihn's House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time. By then, I had stolen a few watches myself.

The argument of Kihn's book -- that management consulting is a conspiracy to squeeze millions of dollars from unwitting companies, that consultants are often unqualified but politically astute mercenaries, and that many of the problems that plague companies are intractable and probably not worth solving anyway -- started to carry some weight after two years of consulting. I had discovered, sadly, that there is a healthy degree of bullshit in corporate life, and that consulting as an industry can profit from it.

The consequences are huge, and that's what makes the profession so exhilarating. Give a group of motivated people the opportunity to change the course of a company, and they will create fantastic or disastrous effects.

Marty Kaan (played by Don Cheadle) is juggling a lot of plates in Showtime’s new comedy series “House of Lies.” The first-world burdens of a single male and rainmaker who earns seven figures, really, but juggling them all the same.

He wakes up in his bed (overlooking L.A.) with a sexy, nude, catatonic woman, who just happens to be his ex-wife Monica! “Don’t f*ck your ex-wife,” Marty tells us emphatically, as if that isn’t obvious by this ordeal and general common sense. Monica (Dawn Olivieri) cleans up nice, though, and rears her gorgeous head later as one of Marty’s professional rivals in the cutthroat arena of high-priced management consulting.

We know she is Marty’s ex-wife, “a sociopath and an addict,” because the characters say so, out loud, so we’re up to speed.

[1] Dexter and Homeland ended their respective seasons last month, but the New Year brings some promising new reasons not to cancel your Showtime subscription just yet. Both Californication and Shameless are set to premiere this Sunday, as does the one I've really been looking forward to -- freshman series House of Lies. Based on a memoir by Martin Kihn, the series stars Don Cheadle as a successful but self-loathing management consultant, with Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz, and Josh Lawson rounding out the cast as Cheadle's colleagues. The network has put the entire first episode online ahead of its January 8 debut, and you can watch it after the jump. It really feels like we’ve been waiting for House of Lies to surface since that stench over headliner Don Cheadle and his super hero replacement in the Iron Man franchise was still fresh. Well, part of the wait is over this week as we enjoy the view of fresh new key art.

House of Lies is a new series coming to Showtime. It will make it’s debut on January 8th on the same network that brings you Dexter and Shameless. Lies is created by Matthew Carnahan, the talent behind the ’06 series Dirt and Thieves from ’01. It is based upon the Martin Kihn book, House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time. That’s a mouthful.

Cheadle, Bell and the rest of the cast (which includes the extremely talented Ben Schwartz. Jean-Ralphio anyone?) come out in suits and get themselves in a nice intense pose, and then they awkwardly look to Cheadle for instruction.

He even shushes Bell when she tries to speak. What’s he waiting for? Oh! He’s waiting for the “We’ve got big balls” line in the song to come on. Now they can start dancing. So I take it this is a comedy then? Sweet.

The new Showtime comedy has cast Melrose Place‘s Michael Rady and Carnivàle‘s Nick Stahl as love interests for Bell’s corporate consultant character, Jeannie, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Rady will play the recurring role of Wes, a moneyed golden boy who may be a bit too conservative for Jeannie. Stahl, meanwhile, will guest star in one episode as Kurt, a musician who makes Jeannie question what she wants out of life and love (my guess: no-strings sex with a hot musician).

We last mentioned this in early December – Don Cheadle’s new dark comedy TV series, House Of Lies, based on the book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time by Martin Kihn.

House Of Lies is described as a subversive, scathing look at a self-loathing management consultant from a top-tier firm. Cheadle will star as Marty, a highly successful, cutthroat consultant who will use any means (or anyone) necessary to get his clients the information that they want.

A pilot episode was shot in February, and, apparently, the Showtime Network has loved all they’ve seen and read thus far, enough to pick up the pilot and order 12 episodes of the series.

Production will happen over the summer, likely for a 2012 debut.

The cable net has officially given a series pickup to House of Lies, a half-hour comedy starring Veronica Mars Mvp Kristen Bell and Oscar nominee Don Cheadle.

Showtime has also greenlit the Claire Danes drama Homeland. Both shows received 12-episode orders.

Don Cheadle will play ruthless consultant Marty in the project, which is based on the book by Martin Kihn. Ok, sorry. Not Veronica Mars, but someone who looks exactly like her: Kristen Bell. Bell has joined the cast of the new Showtime pilot House of Lies, which starts production this month. We haven’t seen Bell on television for more than guest roles since her stint on Heroes in 2008.

Bell plays Jeannie Van Der Hooven, who may or may not sign her texts “Xoxo.” Jeannie is a “razor-sharp, Ivy-League graduate” working for cutthroat management consultant Marty, played by Don Cheadle. True Blood’s Dawn Olivieri also stars as Marty’s ex.

Bell will join the Showtime family in the upcoming dark-comedy, House of Lies. The former Veronica Mars star and voice of Gossip Girl will team up with the venerable Don Cheadle for the new Showtime pilot. The two will play management consultants, likely making light of the unethical business practices that have gone on in Wall Street and beyond over the past few years.

Last December we heard that Don Cheadle signed on to star in their dark comedy series House of Lies from Matthew Carnahan, creator and writer of the FX series Dirt. Based on Martin Kihn’s book of the same name, the half-hour comedy follows Marty (Cheadle), a highly successful, cutthroat consultant who is never above using any means (or anyone) necessary to get his clients the information they want. Now Showtime has announced that Kristen Bell, who first made waves on TV as Veronica Mars, has landed the role of Jeannie Van Der Hooven, a razor-sharp, Ivy-League graduate who works at Marty’s firm. Stephen Hopkins is directing the pilot with production beginning this month, so we'll be looking forward to checking the show out later this year.

'Veronica Mars' and 'Scream 4' star Kristen Bell could be heading back to TV screens for the fall 2011 season.

According to TVLine.com, Bell has signed on for a lead role in the Showtime pilot, 'House of Lies.'

The dark comedy is based on Martin Kihn's bestelling book, 'How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time,' and it revolves around dueling corporate management consulting firms.

Bell joins previously cast stars Don Cheadle ('Hotel Rwanda') and Dawn Olivieri ('Heroes'). She will reportedly play the part of Jeannie Van Der Hooven, a razor-sharp Ivy League grad who reluctantly finds herself attracted to her co-worker Marty (Cheadle).
