‘Rise of the Zombies’ Review
Stars: Mariel Hemingway, Ethan Suplee, LeVar Burton, Danny Trejo, Heather Hemmens, French Stewart, Chad Lindberg, Lorenzo Eduardo, Andy Clemence | Written by Keith Allan, Delondra Williams | Directed by Nick Lyon

Nick Lyon, who previously directed the Ving Rhames starring Zombie Apocalypse, returns the the land of the living dead with Rise of the Zombies, another Syfy channel original movie that tells the story of a group of survivors holed up in Alcatraz, well away from the zombie plague. However when their island refuge is overrun by the undead they take the risk of heading back to the mainland to find a scientist who is rumored to have found a cure for the disease.

From the very opening of Rise of the Zombies you know that this film is going to be different. First off there is a solid explanation for the existence of the undead – in this case a virus has...

Air Collision (2012)
Written and Directed by Liz Adams

Starring Reginald VelJohnson, Jordan Ladd, Gerald Webb, Michael Teh, Darin Cooper, Darren Anthony Thomas, Kevin Yarbrough, Erin Coker, Andy Clemence, Angelique Cinelu, Stephanie Hullar, Meredith Thomas

While it may be hard to believe that Air Collision is the best Asylum film yet in the entire history of Asylum films, you should really take my word for it.

Sporting a multi-ethnic, and large, ensemble cast involving actors playing scientists, Faa agents, commercial airplane pilots, marines, The President, The First Lady and First Daughter, and people running from falling satellites combined with some pretty good computer graphic effects of said satellites falling and airplanes ramming into buildings, Air Collision certainly *feels* like The Asylum shelled out about ten grand more than they usually do for their monster films.

Air Collision is an updated version of the classic airport disaster film plot; satellites controlled by a brand...

SyFy's Black Forest Delivers More than Just One Fairy Tale: A Movie Review
*spoiler alert.

Director: Patrick Dinhut.

Writer: Frank H. Woodward.

Cast: Velizar Binev, Sarah Brown and Andy Clemence.

Very rarely will one of SyFy’s Saturday night products truly entertain. The tale developed in Black Forest is an ominous one. Also, this film stitches in a bit of Guillermo del Toro’s style as well. Both films like to have most of the action take place at night and include that doubtful deunouemont.

Also, writer Frank Woodward certainly knows his lore about faeries (not fairies) and expands on it. The difference is not just in the spelling, but also in what they represent. While most people associate the Fae with Celtic tradition, namely in the UK, they are also known far and wide to include the Germanic world. After Woodward’s work in the extras found in the “Masters of Horror” DVD releases, he demonstrates how much he has learned.

Even...

He partnered with John McClane in Die Hard and contended with Urkel on “Family Matters”. She died from a flesh-eating virus in Cabin Fever and had sex with a Broken Lizard in Club Dread. Watch this trailer to see if Reginald VelJohnson and Jordan Ladd can survive a catastrophic Air Collision.

Air Collision is the newest airplane-themed disaster flick from The Asylum fresh on the heels of last year’s even more uninspiring titled Airline Disaster. So what will next year’s version be? Air Crash? Airline Tragedy? Airplane Accident?

Synopsis:

Reginald VelJohnson (Die Hard) plays an aircraft controller in a worst-case scenario. Jordan Ladd...
