Bobby Farrelly To Direct Road Trip Comedy ‘Driver’s Ed’ For ‘Outer Banks’ Jonas Pate & AGC Studios
Image
Exclusive: Following the November 25 Paramount+ launch of his holiday comedy Dear Santa, Bobby Farrelly has closed a deal to direct Driver’s Ed, a teen ensemble comedy to be fully financed and co-produced by Stuart Ford’s AGC Studio.

While we’d reported in October that Sporkinfeesten, a “finding your roots” style family vacation comedy loosely inspired by true events, would be Farrelly’s next project after Aaron and Will Eisenberg’s hot spec landed at Amazon MGM Studios, Driver’s Ed has gained traction first and moved to the top of the filmmaker’s docket, with casting underway for an early 2025 shoot in North Carolina.

Driver’s Ed centers on teens who steal their school’s driver’s ed car to go on a road trip to help a high school senior track down his college-freshman girlfriend and win her back. Jonas Pate, co-creator of Netflix’s smash hit YA series Outer Banks,...

Jack Black
Dear Santa | Trailer released for Jack Black Christmas film
Jack Black
Jack Black is reuniting with the Farrelly brothers for Christmas comedy Dear Santa, and here’s the trailer for the film.

Jack Black and the Farrelly brothers have worked together before. Go back to 2001, and we got Shallow Hal. It follows a man (Black) who is hypnotized into seeing only the inner beauty of women and falls in love with Gwyneth Paltrow. It remains a prime example of the Farrelly brothers’ near-the-knuckle comedy. However, it’s also a film with a rather unpleasant mean streak which has attracted a lot of criticism in the years since its release.

Anyway, to now. Jack Black has reunited with the Farrelly brothers to play a twisted version of Father Christmas in festive film Dear Santa.

Black stars alongside Robert Timothy Smith, Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, Pj Byrne, newcomer Jaden Carson Baker, Kai Cech and Austin Post.

Bobby Farrelly directed the film...

Bobby Farrelly’s ‘Dear Santa’ Starring Jack Black Unveils Trailer, Paramount+ Premiere Date
Image
Add another new title to the list of holiday films to check out this winter.

After an extended wait, Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for their comedy Dear Santa, reteaming Jack Black with director Bobby Farrelly, announcing that the film will become available for streaming on Paramount+ and on digital November 25.

In Dear Santa, a young boy mails his Christmas wish list to Santa with one crucial spelling error. Thereafter, a devilish Jack Black arrives to wreak havoc on the holidays.

Ricky Blitt & Peter Farrelly wrote the script from their story conceived with Dan Ewen. The project reunites Black with the Farrelly brothers for the first time since the 20th Century Fox comedy Shallow Hal, co-starring Gwyneth Paltrow, back in 2001.

Robert Timothy Smith, Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, Post Malone, P.J. Byrne, Jaden Carson Baker, and Kai Cech round out the cast. Peter Farrelly, Bobby Farrelly, and...

Amazon MGM packs its bags for Sporkinfeesten, a family vacation comedy with Bobby Farrelly directing
Image
Say it with me: Sporkinfeesten. Have you got that? No? Don’t worry; eventually, it’ll roll right off your tongue. Bobby Farrelly, co-director of Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, There’s Something About Mary, and the director of 2023’s feelgood sports comedy Champions, is packing his bags for Sporkinfeesten, a family vacation comedy at Amazon MGM. Sporkinfeesten, based on a spec script by Aaron and Will Eisenberg, is based on a true story about “finding your roots.”

Plot details remain a mystery, but it’s Farrelly’s next project after wrapping production on Dear Santa, starring Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howrey, and Post Malone about a young boy who, in writing his yearly note to Santa, mixes up the letters and it to Stan instead.

Farrelly is behind some of Hollywood’s most outrageous comedies, including Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal, Stuck on You, Fever Pitch, Dumb and Dumber To,...

Amazon MGM Lands Family Vacation Comedy Spec ‘Sporkinfeesten’ From Aaron & Will Eisenberg; Bobby Farrelly Directing, Counterbalance Producing
Image
Exclusive: Ahead of the release of his Paramount holiday comedy Dear Santa, starring Jack Black, Bobby Farrelly has found his next project in Sporkinfeesten, a “finding your roots” style family vacation comedy loosely inspired by true events, which has landed at Amazon MGM Studios.

Farrelly will work from a hot spec by Aaron and Will Eisenberg, which the studio recently acquired, with Cobra Kai‘s Counterbalance Entertainment producing. Further plot details are under wraps.

Aaron Eisenberg and Will Eisenberg

Prior to his work on Dear Santa, which has not yet announced a release date, Farrelly directed the Special Olympics dramedy Champions, a remake of the 2018 Spanish film for Focus Features, starring Woody Harrelson and Kaitlin Olson. Along with his brother Peter, he’s best known for iconic comedies like Dumb & Dumber and There’s Something About Mary, though he’s also worked on hit shows like Loudermilk and Trailer Park Boys,...

Lex Luthor Coming Back for 'Justice League,' Jesse Eisenberg Confirms
Obviously with a name like Justice League, we can assume the film will be jam-packed full of characters, but up until recently, whether or not Lex Luthor would make an appearance was up in the air. Following the release of Batman v Superman, actor Jesse Eisenberg, who portrays the maniacal wunderkind in the DC Extended Universe told the press that he wasn't sure if and when Lex would pop back into the story.

Now it looks like things have changed. At the recent McM London Comic Con, Eisenberg shared that Lex would, in fact, be showing up in Justice League, and that he was merely waiting to get called in, Digital Spy reports.

"I'm kind of in wait, They just started filming Justice League, so I'm kind of like waiting for my crack at it.I don't know what I'm allowed to say, because I feel like there's probably some drone following me from DC,...

Jesse Eisenberg Reveals His Influence for Lex Luthor
When Jesse Eisenberg was first cast as Lex Luthor in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” in January of last year, fans weren’t so thrilled. Eisenberg has been labeled as pretentious or arrogant, but doesn’t that fit the characteristics of Lex Luthor?

Eisenberg recently talked with The Diane Rehm Show and was asked by a fan what he used to develop and influence his portrayal of Superman’s archenemies. His response is rather interesting.

"I've always noticed the best thing to channel, as an actor, is yourself. To figure out what makes you angry, what makes you feel vengeful or righteous. Those are the feelings that Lex Luthor has. And use that as opposed to kind of watching Gene Hackman, who's a great actor obviously and played that part originally, and think, 'How can I kind of mirror that?'" "Because the truth is, me mirroring him would just come off weird.

Jesse Eisenberg Describes His Comic-Con Experience And It Doesn't Sound Like He Had Fun
During the Batman v Superman portion of Warner Bros.' Hall H panel at Comic-Con this past Saturday, Jesse Eisenberg looked pretty bored. Perhaps he didn't want to be there or doesn't like the publicity side of making movies, but you would think that he would have been impressed by having more than 7,000 passionate fans cheering both him and the movie he stars in. In an interview yesterday Eisenberg was asked about his Comic-Con experience, and he's apparently not a fan; "It is like being screamed at by thousands of people. I don't know what the experience is throughout history, probably some kind of genocide. I can't think of anything that's equivalent." If you're planning on going to Comic-Con next year, be warned that the experience is basically like genocide. Yes, that's really how he described it.  Will Eisenberg make a good Lex Luthor? Weigh in with your thoughts on...

LexCorp Rumors Emerge For Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
There are so many things we still don’t know about Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and so much controversy surrounding the decisions being made that frankly, some things have gotten lost in the shuffle. One bold choice that was met with immediate criticism and then quietly disappeared was the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. So much time has been spent debating Ben Affleck’s Batman casting, dissecting the new Batsuit and Batmobile, and fighting about Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman casting that the new depiction of the iconic villain seems a bit like an afterthought.

Well, keep an eye on your Twitter and RSS feeds next week, because apparently LexCorp scenes are expected to start shooting on June 12th and 13th, and will likely come with a new wave of set photos and articles outlining each and every leaked detail.

The first nugget of information arrives from Batman-News.
