Stage veterans Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing are set to reprise their roles as the eccentric witch aunts, Bridget and Frances Owens, in Practical Magic 2, according to Deadline. Practical Magic producer Denise Di Novi has opened up about the upcoming sequel to 1998s romance fantasy movie. Despite initially receiving mixed reviews, the film went on to become a cult classic among fans due to its timely themes.

During a recent interview with People, Di Novi assured that Practical Magic 2 would honor the legacy and themes of the original movie, while delivering something different for fans to enjoy. She stressed that the sequels creative team is adamant on retaining the things that people had loved from the first installment. "I think the big mistake people make with sequels is when they kind of want to reinvent the wheel and be totally original and surprise people that it's different or whatever," Di Novi said. "[The team] gets how important the first movie is to so many people, women in particular, and we want to honor that for sure."
