After five years, “Insidious” is taking fans to the Further once more with “Insidious: The Red Door.” The latest installment is now available on Digital, which means now is the perfect time to catch up on the creepy franchise (or experience it for the first time). Beginning with “Insidious” in 2010, the horror films center around a family who finds themselves haunted by demons from another realm, along with the people who try to help them.
Created by horror veteran Leigh Whannell (who also created the “Saw” franchise along with James Wan), each installment of the “Insidious” takes viewers deeper into the Further, a nightmarish dimension populated by tortured spirits and ruled over by a malevolent demon. “The Red Door” will be the fifth installment in the franchise, and will once again focus on the Lambert family, with Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, and Ty Simpkins all reprising their roles from the first two films.

This post contains spoilers for the first episode of "The Last of Us," as well as the entire video game.
Of all the changes and expansions that "The Last of Us" pilot has made from the game it's based on, it's the changes to Joel's daughter that are perhaps the most inspired. TV Sarah (Nico Parker) plays the same basic role in the story as game Sarah (Hana Hayes), but the show has added a level of depth to the character that the original never quite had.
That's not a dig on the source material, of course; the main appeal of the game is that you get to play as the characters and make decisions for them, so it makes sense that you don't get too much time developing this father-daughter relationship before the apocalypse hits. In the game, we only get about two minutes of the characters interacting, which...

This post contains spoilers for the first episode of "The Last of Us."
HBO's "The Last of Us" adaptation is finally here, and it's exactly what fans of the franchise were hoping for. Featuring a largely game-accurate plot and an appropriately dark tone, showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have cracked the code on what a video game adaptation should look and feel like. Based on the pilot alone, the series looks to improve upon several key aspects of the source material, too. Sarah's death, in particular, hits far harder in the live-action adaptation than it does in the original video game.
The post-apocalyptic world that the characters inhabit in "The Last of Us" often comes second to the relationships they form with each other. The first episode of the HBO series reinforces this idea by introducing more scenes between Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Sarah (Nico Parker) before her death...

"My 24 hour window is closing!" Hulu has debuted the first official trailer for Plan B, a new comedy in the vein of Superbad, the second feature film directed by actress Natalie Morales (following her feature debut Language Lessons). This looks like good fun. After a regrettable first sexual encounter, a straight-laced high school student and her slacker best friend have 24 hours to hunt down a Plan B pill in America's heartland. Kuhoo Verma and Victoria Moroles star as friends Sunny and Lupe, and the cast includes Michael Provost, Mason Cook, Josh Ruben, Hana Hayes, and Bobby Tisdale. This looks like the next great modern teen comedy after Lady Bird and Booksmart. Let's roll! I'm ready for some Plan B heartland humor. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Natalie Morales' Plan B, direct from Hulu's YouTube: The best trips are never planned. In today’s film news roundup, Dermot Mulroney will play a meth head, production wraps on the transgender drama “Relish,” and Tom Everett Scott’s “Danger One” gets a release.
Castings
Dermot Mulroney and Melora Walters have joined the music-inspired independent feature “Hard Luck Love Song” opposite Sophia Bush and Michael Dorman, Variety has learned exclusively.
Commercial director Justin Corsbie will helm from a script he wrote with Nicholl semifinalist Craig Ugoretz, based on the Todd Snider song “Just Like Old Times.” Allison Smith, Douglas Matejka, and Corsbie are producing; executive producers are Peter Scalettar and Christian Monti.
“Hard Luck Love Song” follows Dorman’s down-on-his-luck troubadour, who finds himself at an existential crossroads as his bad decisions catch up with him. His world spins into further upheaval after a chance encounter with an old flame, played by Bush.
Mulroney’s character is a sketchy meth head with a dangerous side.

The best horror writers know that the scariest terrors come from within ourselves. At least, that seems to be the motto behind “Insidious: The Last Key,” the fourth chapter in Blumhouse’s chilling “Insidious” franchise. While the first movie sent Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne to grapple with terrors from their past, the fourth will do the same for parapsychologist Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye), if this chilling new trailer is any indication.
“The Last Key” returns Elise to the home of her youth yet again, with demonologists Specs (Leigh Whannell, who wrote the script) and Tucker (Angus Sampson) to help her tame the terrors lurking. This time, a young girl is living in the house, which IMDb suggests is a teenage Elise (Hana Hayes). Down in a dark basement, a set of prison-like doors open slowly to reveal an army of decaying spirits freed from their shackles right in front of our eyes.

Rob Lowe and Fred Savage have each starred on very successful TV shows that have run for many years. They've also each been on series that have been cancelled. How will The Grinder do in the ratings? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
The Grinder revolves around Hollywood star Dean Sanderson, Jr. (Rob Lowe) whose TV show was suddenly cancelled. He relocates to his old hometown and decides that, since he played a lawyer so successfully on television, practicing law at his family's law firm can't be all that different -- much to the frustration of his hard-working attorney brother (Fred Savage). The series also stars William Devane, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Natalie Morales, Hana Hayes, and Connor Kalopsis.

“Fake it til you make it” is Rob Lowe’s mantra as Dean Sanderson, Jr. in Fox’s new original series “The Grinder.” Lowe stars as a hotshot television lawyer who returns to his hometown and joins his family’s law firm. Unfortunately, Dean lacks several important necessities of being a lawyer — no bar certification, no license to practice law, no experience in a real courtroom and no formal education. Still, this small-screen star is up for the challenge. Fred Savage stars as his brother Stewart. Mary Elizabeth Ellis, William Devane, Natalie Morales, Connor Kalopsis and Hana Hayes also star.

Fox loves a familiar face, and whether that means renewing shows that have been on way too long, or picking up a new show with Rob Lowe and Fred Savage. You can’t blame them, because people, but this one looks like it might have an uphill battle for fans… or it will be brilliant… or both.
In a spin on legal shows that seems to suggest an underlying dislike of legal shows, Lowe plays an actor who was on a show playing a lawyer for several years. With his show finally off the air, he’s moving back home, and his brother (Savage), who is actually a lawyer, can’t stand him.
That sounds like the perfect opportunity for The Grinder to prance around real courts, stealing his brother’s lack of thunder.
Hilarity ensues.
This is a show littered with difficulty, but there is a chance that it could pull everything together.

With the 2014-2015 television season winding down, many television fans and channels are looking ahead to the new series that will make their debut over the next television season. Fox is no different, having announced their renewals, cancellations, and new series pickups over the last week, and the network has now released trailers for a number of their new series.
First up is the trailer for the new animated series Bordertown.
From Family Guy’s Mark Hentemann comes Bordertown, a new animated comedy about two families living in a Southwest desert town on the U.S. – Mexico border. The series takes a satirical look at the cultural shifts occurring in America, where the U.S. Census forecasts that by 2017, ethnic minorities will become the majority. Set against this increasingly diverse backdrop, the comedy explores family, politics and everything in between with a cross-cultural wink. Bordertown centers on two clans: the Buckwalds and the Gonzalezes.

Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group, today unveiled the Fox primetime slate for the 2015-2016 television season to the national advertising community during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre. Here's what the CEO's had to say in a joint statement.
"Building on the phenomenal momentum created by Gotham, The Last Man on Earth and, of course, Empire, we're infusing next season's schedule with new ambitious dramas, smart comedies, aspirational unscripted series and big live events and specials - all from the best creators in the business. And our strategy with these bold creative swings is simple: schedule them strategically, market them relentlessly and create events that break through and captivate viewers across every platform."
Tuesdays are all-new this fall on Fox, with new comedies Grandfathered and The Grinder, followed by killer comedy-horror series Scream Queens. The new comedies kicking off an all-new Tuesday are Grandfathered and The Grinder.

Not content to let NBC and The CW have the full programming spotlight on the Thursday (May 7) before upfronts, Fox made its first comedy and drama series pickups of the spring. On the comedy side, Fox has given a series order to "The Grinder," starring Rob Lowe, while the Morris Chestnut procedural "Rosewood" is going to series on the drama side. "Rosewood" and "The Grinder" join the Ryan Murphy anthology horror-comedy "Scream Queens," which was ordered straight to series last fall, and the six-episode return of "The X-Files," announced in March. "The Grinder" stars Lowe as an actor best known for playing a beloved TV lawyer. When his hit series comes to an end, he decides to return to his hometown thinking that his TV pedigree makes him qualified to take over his family's law firm. To celebrate the launch of the PlayStation 4 version of The Last of Us, Naughty Dog last night brought the game to life in front of hundreds of fans in Santa Monica, California at The Broad Stage. When Naughty Dog released their apocalyptic odyssey The Last Of Us, reviews unanimously declared it as one of gaming’s greatest achievements. One critic went as far as calling it the Citizen Kane of gaming, which sounded incredibly hyperbolic at the time, but in reality couldn’t be any closer to the truth. Simply put, The Last Of Us is an experience unlike no other, and one that has pushed the medium forward for the better.
With that in mind, I am surprised but also not so surprised to hear that the game will now be performed at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, California for one night only. Naughty Dog is arguably the most ambitious team of developers in the gaming industry today, so why wouldn’t they take their masterpiece of storytelling and present it to a new audience?
It’s also very interesting for fans of the game in general.
