‘Doctor Odyssey’ Remains at Dock, Even as ABC Insists It’s Not Canceled
Image
Doctor Odyssey won’t be setting sail for a second season — for now, and maybe not ever. But ABC maintains that the series hasn’t been canceled, even as its cast is on the verge of being free to pursue other work.

The series, co-created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken, was the only scripted ABC show whose future was up in the air as the 2024-25 season came to a close. ABC has repeatedly said that it’s still weighing the show’s future: Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich told The Hollywood Reporter in May that “We’re continuing to have creative conversations with Ryan, and we’ll talk to him about what the next chapter looks like.”

Yet as those conversations were happening, Doctor Odyssey’s sets were being struck, sources tell THR, and contract options for the cast are set to expire Monday.

Doctor Odyssey: ABC Medical Drama Cancelled, No Season Two for Ryan Murphy Series
The doctor is "out" and won't be back for ABC's 2025-26 TV season. Doctor Odyssey has been essentially cancelled as the cast's second season option expire. The first season of 18 episodes finished airing last month.

A medical drama series, the Doctor Odyssey TV show was created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken. The series stars Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo, and Sean Teale. In the story, Dr. Max Bankman (Jackson) is the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship. On board, Captain Robert Massey (Johnson) and his staff work hard and play even harder. It’s all-hands-on-deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team -- Nurse Avery Morgan (Soo) and Nurse Tristan Silva (Teale) -- navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore. Guests in the first season include Shania Twain, John Stamos,...

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Canceled After One Season At ABC
Image
With the show’s cast options set to expire on Monday, June 30, and the network not appearing to step in and extend those deals, “Doctor Odyssey” has effectively been canceled at ABC. As a result, the Ryan Murphy-produced drama will not be coming back for a second season, “at least not anytime soon,” reports Deadline.

According to the outlet, “sources stress that the glossy cruise ship medical drama starring Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson has not been formally canceled, and Murphy is weighing creative options as to where he may want to take it next. If the show ultimately comes back — on ABC or Hulu, where it has done well — new deals with the cast will have to be made.”

When ABC unveiled its 2025-2026 primetime schedule last month, the drama was noticeably absent, with Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, whose role encompasses ABC Entertainment, Disney Branded Television,...

'Doctor Odyssey' Canceled After One Season at ABC
Image
Ryan Murphy has created and produced some of the most popular television series. He just has an eye for what viewers prefer to watch with his credits including Glee, American Horror Story, Pose, 9-1-1, and The Watcher. Murphy is not slowing down, either. In 2024, ABC's Doctor Odyssey was added to the writer's list of productions. While doctors aboard a luxury cruise caught the attention, it seems not to have had the level of interest to convince ABC to renew it.

Who wouldn't want to tune in to watch highly skilled doctors on a luxury cruise handling medical cases far away from the nearest shore? Within its 18 episodes, there was no shortage of drama and cases for Dr. Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson) and his team. However, there seemed to be a shortage in ABC's interest to renew the series, as the network decided to cancel it instead. According to Variety, fans...

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Officially Canceled at ABC: Fans React
Image
ABC has sunk fans’ hopes for Doctor Odyssey Season 2, having canceled the medical drama after one season. Doctor Odyssey’s demise was all but guaranteed yesterday, Friday, June 27, as Deadline reported that ABC was letting the cast’s options expire, freeing those actors to pursue other projects. Now, however, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed the show’s cancellation, and fans are reacting to the news on social media. “I’m very disappointed,” @josephcollins54 wrote on X. “I was really starting to like this show.” @midnightbakerNZ said, “Well, f***. Why can’t we have nice things? A show that’s beautiful, nicely written, [featuring a] charismatic cast, and filled with kindness and compassion. ABC, we need good shows like this. What a pity.” Tina Thorpe/Disney That cast included Joshua Jackson as Max Bankman, a doctor working aboard a luxury cruise ship; Phillipa Soo and Sean Teale as Max’s coworkers (and occasional bed...

Doctor Odyssey‘s ship has sailed: ABC has cancelled the medical drama after a single season.

The cast’s options for a second season will not be picked up, according to our sister site Deadline, meaning that as of Monday they will be free to book other roles. Though not a formal cancellation, if ABC does eventually want Doc Od to return, producers would need to re-sign all lead actors to new deals.

Doctor Odyssey Season 2 Canceled, But There's Still Good News About The Show's Future
Image
Doctor Odysseyseason 2 has been canceled at ABC, but that may not be the end of the story. The soapy medical drama, co-created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken, features Joshua Jackson in the lead role. He plays Dr. Max Blankman, a recent hire on a luxury cruise ship that mixes business and pleasure while attending to strange medical emergencies.

Even though it debuted strong, Doctor Odyssey season 2 has been on the bubble for months. With a Doctor Odyssey main cast that includes Phillipa Soo, Sean Teale, and Don Johnson, the drama is the only scripted ABC show not to be renewed. But even as it approaches the end of its current destination, there could be another.

Deadlinereports that Doctor Odyssey has ended by default. That is because the actors' contracts expire on Monday and won't be picked up. Sources stress, however, that the show is not formally...

'Doctor Odyssey' Essentially Canceled by ABC as Cast Options Expire & No Plans to Continue the Show
Image
ABC has essentially canceled the series Doctor Odyssey after just one season.

When the network announced its Fall 2025 schedule last month, there was no news about the renewal or cancellation for Doctor Odyssey. Now, we’ve learned that the network is letting its cast options expire, releasing the show’s actors to find new work.

So, what does that mean?

Keep reading to find out more…

ABC hasn’t yet given up on the Ryan Murphy-produced show, but it will now be difficult to continue the series if the network decides to move forward with season two in the future.

“If the show ultimately comes back — on ABC or Hulu where it has done well — new deals with the cast will have to be made,” Deadline reports.

Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo, and Sean Teale led the medical drama, which took place on a cruise ship.

Is ‘Doctor Odyssey’ Over? Cast Options Expire, Leaving Season 2 Up in the Air
Image
The voyage has come to an end for Doctor Odyssey, as Ryan Murphy’s ABC drama will not be returning for a second season, at least for now. The medical ship drama has not been formally canceled but instead got hit with a default cancellation, as the cast’s options expired on Monday, June 23. The show could still be picked up at a later date by ABC or Hulu, but if that happens, new deals with the cast will need to be negotiated. Deadline reported the news late Friday, June 27. This is certainly disappointing news for those fans who wanted to see what new adventures Dr. Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson), his now-girlfriend Avery (Phillipa Soo), and Tristan (Sean Teale) would be getting into as the Odyssey reached new ports of call around the world, with Captain Robert Massey (Don Johnson) still at the wheel. The Season 1 finale, though satisfying, left...

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Season 2 on Ice as Cast Contracts to Return Expire
Image
The future isn’t looking too bright for “Doctor Odyssey,” as the cast’s contracts to return are set to expire without a Season 2 greenlight from ABC.

After not receiving a spot on ABC’s primetime lineup this fall, the fate of “Doctor Odyssey” has been in flux amid ongoing creative conversations with Ryan Murphy about what a Season 2 might look like, though, with the cast’s options set to expire this coming Monday, the show certainly won’t be returning to ABC this fall.

That’s not to say that “Doctor Odyssey” is officially over, as the Joshua Jackson-led drama series could pick back up at a later time according to an individual with knowledge, but it’s unknown if or when that might happen.

The future of “Doctor Odyssey” has been in limbo since the spring, when the series didn’t receive a renewal nor a cancellation,...

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Canceled at ABC After One Season
Image
“Doctor Odyssey” has been canceled after one season on ABC.

Since April, the Ryan Murphy-created medical drama has been the network’s only scripted series for which a renewal or cancellation had not been announced, and Variety has now confirmed that the cast’s contracts expire on Monday with no move from ABC to put the series back on its schedule for the upcoming year.

The news also comes after three of the show’s former crew members filed a lawsuit against Disney and 20th Television on May 30, alleging that the studio enabled an “unchecked campaign of sexual harassment for months” and accusing assistant prop master Tyler Patton of making “sexual jokes, innuendos, comments, sexual gestures and images” in addition to “unwanted touching” including “openly grabbing a visiting female employee’s buttocks.”

“Doctor Odyssey” starred Joshua Jackson as Max Bankman, a doctor on a luxury cruise line called the Odyssey,...

Sink or Swim? The Fate of ABC's 'Doctor Odyssey' Has Finally Been Decided
Image
After weeks of speculation, the sexy boat will not return for a second season on ABC as it sinks to the bottom of the Situationship Seas. The splashy cruise ship medical drama Doctor Odyssey, from Ryan Murphy, has been cancelled by default — yes you read that right — as cast contracts are set to expire this Monday and will not be renewed, according to multiple sources. The show’s crew has also moved on, many transitioning to other Murphy productions.

While the show has not been formally cancelled by ABC, insiders told Deadline that the decision not to exercise cast options effectively ends the series as we know it. If the show were to continue — either back on ABC or possibly on Hulu, where it performed better in streaming — entirely new cast deals would have to be negotiated. As of now, no such discussions are in motion.

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Over – For Now – As Cast Options Expire
Image
Exclusive: John Oliver will not be happy about this: Ryan Murphy’s Doctor Odyssey will not be coming back for a second season on ABC — at least not anytime soon. It’s a default cancellation as the cast’s options are expiring on Monday and are not being picked up, sources said, releasing the actors to do other projects. The crew also has moved on, largely staying employed as crew members are known for floating from one Ryan Murphy show to another.

Sources stress that the glossy cruise ship medical drama starring Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson has not been formally canceled, and Murphy is weighing creative options as to where he may want to take it next. If the show ultimately comes back — on ABC or Hulu where it has done well — new deals with the cast will have to be made.

Doctor Odyssey Season 2 Gets A Concerning Update From Joshua Jackson Amid Continued Wait For A Renewal
Image
The chances of a Doctor Odysseyseason 2 renewal gets a worrying update from lead star Joshua Jackson. Co-created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken, the soapy ABC drama is the network's only scripted series still in limbo. Although top executives have struck a cautiously optimistic tone about the show's future, Doctor Odyssey season 2 is hampered by relatively high production costs and the fact that the ratings haven't been roboust as initially hoped.

While attending the Motion Picture and Television Foundation's NextGen Annual Summer Party fundraiser at The Aster recently, Jackson answered a question about the future of Doctor Odyssey season 2 and revealed that he hasn't been told whether or not the medical drama is renewed. ‘The Pitt,’ ‘Brilliant Minds’ Showrunners on The Revival of the Medical Drama: “People Need Hope Now”
Image
Why are medical dramas having a resurgence this Emmys season? The showrunners of some of the hottest series, which this year include Brilliant Minds, Doc, Doctor Odyssey, The Pitt, Pulse and Watson, have some theories (apart from the fact that they’re just “quite good,” says The Pitt’s R. Scott Gemmill).

“Medical shows introduce a problem and provide a solution, and in doing so offer hope,” Gemmill tells THR. “I think people need hope now more than they have in a while.” And Watson’s showrunner Craig Sweeny agrees: “Audiences are craving the hope and positivity that are baked into the genre.”

We’re only calling it a “finale” because we’re still unsure whether it was a season or a series ender for this magical medical / Love Boat-type show that stars Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo, and Sean Teale. Luckily for her patient, Avery studied up on the procedure and pulled it off without a single hitch as well as anyone could. ‘Doctor Odyssey’ Finale Upbeat With No Hint Of A Future On The High Seas
Image
Spoiler Alert! This story contains details from the season one finale of Doctor Odyssey on ABC.

Doctor Odyssey wrapped its first season Thursday on an upbeat note, especially given the uncertainty over the drama’s future.

As Deadline reported, the series from Ryan Murphy that stars Joshua Jackson, Phillipa Soo and Don Johnson remains on the bubble: it’s not scheduled to return in the fall but no one’s saying it’s canceled. Disney TV Group Chairman Craig Erwich President told Deadline that “Ryan’s really busy. He’s doing a lot with us. 9-1-1, 9-1-1 Nashville, All’s Fair [for Hulu]. So we’re just continuing that creative conversations with him.”

Should Doctor Odyssey remain in port for good, at least it didn’t leave us with unanswered questions in the finale. Soo’s character Avery ended part 2 of “The Wave” by declaring to Jackson’s Max that she did,...

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Not Canceled Yet, Disney TV Boss Says: ‘It’s an Ongoing Conversation’
Image
Not all hope is lost for “Doctor Odyssey,” Ryan Murphy’s whimsical cruise ship-set medical drama, whose renewal status at ABC continues to remain in limbo.

“Doctor Odyssey,” which has been the subject of ongoing creative conversations ahead of a potential renewal or cancellation, is not included on ABC’s upcoming 2025-26 schedule, but the show is not yet canceled, according to Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich.

“‘Doctor Odyssey’ is not currently on our schedule. We’re continuing to have creative conversations with Ryan about what a next chapter would look like,” Erwich told TheWrap, adding that Murphy is quite busy as he prepares to launch a new season of “9-1-1” and new series “9-1-1: Nashville” on ABC as well as the legal drama series “All’s Fair” on Hulu this fall. “It’s an ongoing conversation.”

Erwich refrained from discussing whether “Doctor Odyssey” could potentially move over to become a Hulu original series,...

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Remains at Sea: No Season 2 Decision Yet at ABC
Image
The future of Doctor Odyssey remains an open question as ABC sails into Disney’s upfront presentation Tuesday.

The first-year drama from 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Television, starring Joshua Jackson as a cruise-ship physician, is the only current ABC scripted series still awaiting word on its future (its season finale airs Thursday). ABC has said it’s continuing talks with executive producer Murphy about the show’s next steps, a position Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich reiterated to The Hollywood Reporter in an interview Tuesday.

“It’s not currently on our schedule. We’re continuing to have creative conversations with Ryan, and we’ll talk to him about what the next chapter looks like,” Erwich said. “Ryan’s really busy, but we’ll continue to talk.”

Doctor Odyssey, which also stars Phillipa Soo, Sean Teale and Don Johnson, averages about 8 million viewers in Nielsen’s cross-platform ratings, which measure viewing over 35 days.

'Doctor Odyssey' Season Finale Trailer Sets Up Tearful Goodbye
Image
Doctor Odyssey's Season 1 finale trailer may have teased a potential grim fate for one of its core characters. Doctor Odyssey revolves around the personal and professional lives of the medical team of a luxurious cruise ship: nurses Avery (Phillipa Soo) and Tristan (Sean Teale), and newly-hired chief medical officer Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson).

Doctor Odyssey's penultimate episode, "The Wave," saw the crew dealing with a massive earthquake that led to a deadly tsunami. Max was left behind on land after accompanying some passengers on a hiking tour while his friends and team at The Odyssey were left to deal with the tsunami at sea.

After the tsunami caused chaos, Season 1, Episode 17 ended with Max stuck in an abandoned church when an aftershock occurred, causing his radio to go silent. This came after Captain Massey (Don Johnson) decided to risk the danger of going back to port to search for Max and the other survivors.

Image
[Warning: The following post contains Major spoilers for Doctor Odyssey Episode 17, “The Wave.”] The penultimate episode of Doctor Odyssey is bound to send shockwaves through the show’s fan community because it puts Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson) in very serious danger. The episode begins with Avery (Phillipa Soo) giving Max a stern talking to about his declaration of love for her. She doesn’t feel the same — or so she says — and he’s only trying to make it harder for her to leave for medical school. This is all about his feelings, she insists. He doesn’t believe that she doesn’t love him back, though. Neither does Tristan (Sean Teale), who’s been catching all of their subtly tense exchanges from a distance. Not only is he curious what is really going on between Avery and Max, but he’s also tired of being turned down for various trysts by his ostensibly casual bedroom buddy. Meanwhile,...

‘Only Murders in the Building,’ ‘Paradise,’ ‘Doctor Odyssey’ casting director on ‘stressful scheduling’ and the audition that ‘blew everyone away’
Image
There's a high chance you've watched more shows cast by Tiffany Little Canfield in the past year than anyone else. The six-time Emmy nominee is the casting director on Only Murders in the Building, Paradise, and Doctor Odyssey, among others.

Little Canfield has been with Only Murders since the beginning, which means she's been there for every season finale murder that sets up the following season's mystery. "Usually, like way before we really, really start with the concept of it, that is a conversation that we start brainstorming ideas," she tells Gold Derby at our Meet the Experts: Casting Directors panel. "I'll get a call like, 'Ok, we're doing like this. I think it was literally like, 'We need to do the famous actor, like who's gonna play our three in the movie version?' And so that is where it sort of started. And there was lots of fun...

A Tsunami Siren Calls in 'Doctor Odyssey' Episode 17 Promo
Image
Attracting 13.6 million cross-platform viewers in its first week, with 7.59 million of these from live plus three-day viewing, making the show ABC's most-watched drama debut in four years, Doctor Odyssey found its early life on network television smooth sailing. However, ratings have since dropped despite a strong, star-studded cast that includes Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo, and Sean Teale. Now, fears over the show's future have cast a gray cloud over once-easy waters, leaving the journey ahead for this luxury cruise ship potentially choppy. Nevertheless, the promise of a high-octane two-part finale to the show's opening season might hopefully see viewers return, with the promo for the upcoming penultimate episode, "The Wave," sure to make a splash with audiences.

Following last night's Episode 16, "Double Booked," in which a double booking causes chaos for opposing book tours and leaves the respective authors in need of medical attention, the promo for next week's outing aired,...

The guests of the day also run parallel to the situation going on between Avery (Phillipa Soo), Max (Joshua Jackson), and Tristan (Sean Teale), though. After Avery hears one of her favorite sex-positive speakers, Mona (played by Whitney Cummings), challenge her crowd to have an amazing orgasm that day, she makes an offer to both beaus: unencumbered solo sex sessions until she...

Waiting for a 'Doctor Odyssey' Season 2 Update? So Is Disney's Head of Television
Image
After weeks of swirling speculation, we still don't know if the ship is officially docking for the last time. ABC has not made the decision to move ahead, nor cancel, Doctor Odyssey Season 2, following a rocky freshman voyage. While the Grey’s Anatomy-at-sea-style series drew headlines for its star-studded cast and splashy production values, an eye-opening remark from Disney TV Studios chief Eric Schrier has revealed that the future of the show may not even rest in their hands, but in the hands of creator Ryan Murphy instead, as he told Deadline.

I really love Doctor Odyssey, I think it’s a wildly inventive show, and we’re doing everything we can to support it. That decision ultimately lies with Ryan Murphy, whether Ryan wants to continue to do it, and he feels like there’s stories to tell that he feels confident in.

Doctor Odyssey debuted with a lot of promise,...

10 TV Shows to Watch if You Liked ‘The Pitt’
Image
For many years, the genre of medical drama has been able to draw viewers constantly. A good show can portray the anxiety and tension that goes behind life and death situations while also portraying the personal struggles of each character. One example of this approach is Max’s recent hit show, The Pitt.

It revolves around a 15-hour shift in a fictional Pittsburgh hospital that is loaded with post-pandemic trauma, shortages of staff, and limited budget. In the show, Noah Wyle plays Dr. Robby, who is troubled by the pandemic, along with other doctors played by Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, and others. The story feels real and gritty, and if you loved The Pitt, here are 10 shows that might keep you hooked.

1. Transplant

Transplant is a Canadian drama that follows Hamza Haq’s character Dr. Bashir “Bash” Hamed, who is a Syrian refugee rebuilding his medical career in Toronto’s York Memorial Hospital.

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Just Went Full Soap Twins & Somehow Got More Serious as a Result
Image
[Warning: The following post contains Major spoilers about Doctor Odyssey Episode 15, “Crew Week.”] Doctor Odyssey just keeps finding new ways to surprise us. The latest? Turns out Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson) has a twin, while Tristan (Sean Teale) might have a parasite that could infest his brain… yes really. Also, they’re both still completely in love with Avery (Phillipa Soo), but she might be ready to sail off into her own kinda sunset soon and leave both of them behind. Yet, the most surprising thing about all of this is that, as soapy and silly as it all sounds, “Crew Week” is actually one of the deeper episodes of the show so far. The episode finds Max at a bit of a crossroads. He takes a bye week off to go home and visit his family, which, it turns out, consists of a look-alike big brother — he’s one minute older, so it counts — and his wife...

Glaring Mistake

Sometimes, so much happens on The Odyssey that it’s hard to catch what else is happening. However, fans quickly noticed this blooper during the Thursday, April 10 episode. One viewer noticed something strange about a scene involving Tristan (Sean Teale) as he shared his cheerleading past with Avery (Phillipa Soo) and Max (Joshua Jackson). A tree appeared behind him, even though they were out at sea.

“In last night’s Doctor Odyssey, while the ship was sailing around the ocean, a tree from the outdoor studio they film at (on land) could be seen behind Tristan,” the fan account shared on X. The screenshot showed the clear blue skies and the tree from the Los Angeles studio.

Here’s 3 Reasons Why ABC Needs To Save Doctor Odyssey
Image
Doctor Odyssey is at risk of cancellation. It’s currently on thin ice because it’s expensive to produce. But it would be a mistake for ABC to cancel this series.

Has Doctor Odyssey Been Renewed?

Deadline reported that Shifting Gears was renewed for Season 2. The network also renewed Grey’s Anatomy, 9-1-1, The Rookie, and Will Trent earlier this month. It also said yes to Abbott Elementary and High Potential. The only scripted series that hasn’t been renewed is Doctor Odyssey.

The guest stars and big production makes this series expensive to make. Ryan Murphy’s soapy cruise could see itself sailing away for good. In addition, sources suggested that the Season 1 finale could be a series finale. Yet, the network is struggling with a lack of scripted shows. ABC needs this show more than anything. Here are three reasons why.

1 – Not Your Normal Medical Drama

When you typically think of medical dramas,...

Doctor Odyssey made a terrible storyline move that could sink the series
Image
Doctor Odyssey just ended its big pregnancy storyline, but in a way that left a sour taste in the mouths of fans! Did this mar the show’s chances of a second season?

Caution: This article contains Spoilers for Doctor Odyssey season 1, episode 14

Doctor Odyssey has been a pretty unusual show. It looked like a new take on The Love Boat, with each episode boasting some guest stars as visitors on a cruise ship captained by Captain Massey (Don Johnson) with Dr. Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson), Nurse Avery Morgan (Phillipa Soo), and Tristan Silva (Sean Teale).

The show has showcased some wild romantic turns including Max and Avery hooking up in the first episode. They played on romantic tension with Tristian with the trio then engaging in a wild night together. That was soon followed by Avery informing the men she was pregnant and didn’t know which one was the father.

Oh Baby, ‘Doctor Odyssey’ Delivers Another Triangle Twist
Image
[Warning: The following post contains Major spoilers for Doctor Odyssey Episode 14, “Hot Tub Week.”] There are two major revelations in this week’s new episode of Doctor Odyssey: Tristan (Sean Teale) was once a cheerleader — which totally tracks, by the way — and, oh, Avery’s (Phillipa Soo) not pregnant after all. So that solves that! The episode, titled “Hot Tub Week,” features the cruise being overrun by teen cheerleaders who practice their perfectly executed acrobatics on the deck as their former spirit team-er admires their work. With so many stunts abounding on the ship, injuries are inevitable. However, it gets much worse than what even the medics could predict. The squad leader gets her hair sucked into the hot tub drain and is only saved by some quick action on Tristan’s part to create a breathing apparatus from a bar tube. As if that isn’t horrifying enough, she also passes out underwater while stuck and...

Doctor Odyssey Still in Danger of Getting Canceled After 1 Season (But There's a Bright Side)
Image
Ryan Murphay's medical drama, Doctor Odyssey, remains in danger of being canceled by ABC as even more series get renewal orders. While the new series may be reaching its end, sources say there is a potential bright side.

Deadline reports that ABC recently renewed 9-1-1, Grey's Anatomy, The Rookie, Will Trent and Shifting Gears -- but Doctor Odyssey is still on the bubble. The soapy cruise ship medical drama is expensive to make thanks to its high production value and star-studded cast, meaning it could go either way in the end. While the series may end up getting canceled, sources say that the upcoming Season 1 finale has "an ending that could serve as a series finale," meaning that fans won't be left with an unresolved cliffhanger.

Doctor Odyssey premiered on Sept. 26, 2024 and stars Joshua Jackson as Dr. Max Bankman, a newly hired doctor who joins a luxury cruise ship...
