The Bear (Season 4) Recap & Ending Explained: Does Carmy Burn the Restaurant to the Ground or Find a Way to Save It?
Image
The ending of “The Bear” season 4 shows Carmy leaving the restaurant to save it, handing over the reins to Syd and Nat, leaving its fate in the dark. The third season showed him devoting his life to this restaurant by sacrificing everything else he loved. The fourth season shows him doing almost the opposite of that. He tries to mend the bridges he burnt with Claire, his mother, and others, while questioning his passion for food. He wonders: Did he get into the business only to prove his worth to Michael? Was it meant to be a big, resounding ‘f**k you’ to Chef David? Or was it just plain escapism? He introspects without letting anyone get a hint of his thoughts. Classic Carmy, right? Well, the fourth season shows him trying to move past that image.

Carmy tries to make progress while trying to find a footing in his personal and professional life,...

The Bear season 4 episode 8 recap: Time is running out
Image
Jumping back in after the best episode of the season, The Bear season 4 episode 8, "Green," begins with one of our faves really going through it! Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) is having some serious nightmares about failure. In the dream, she's hosting a cooking show when a storm rips through the set. She tries to keep going, but it's a complete and utter failure.

The dream continues, and Sydney is trying to outrun something. Shortly after she wakes up, we find out what it is. She calls Chef Shapiro and officially drops out of the running for the position. It's not the best phone call, but he puts her on blast. He's actually really rude about it, even if he might be right. I don't know. I still think he's a jerk.

Sydney isn't the only one going through it, though. Marcus (Lionel Boyce), who has been struggling with how to handle...

The Bear season 4 episode 6 recap: Uncle Carmy
Image
After the devastating cliffhanger ending about Sydney's father, The Bear season 4 episode 6, "Sophie," opens with Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) visiting the hospital. We still don't know if her father is okay, and when she gets there, they ask her to sit down in the waiting room.

She also asked Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) not to tell anyone about her dad, but like, that was never going to work because she's such a huge part of the team. After Neil (Matty Matheson) tells Sugar (Abby Elliott) that he invited Francie to the wedding and she freaks out, Carmy tells the team about Sydney's dad having a heart attack.

In the same conversation, we also get Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) to open up a little bit about Tiffany's wedding and why he hates Frank so much. It kickstarts one of the most eventful episodes of the show so far!

Sydney's dad is going...

‘The Bear’ Star Corey Hendrix Dove Into Wine Tastings to Prepare for His Sommelier Storyline
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from ‘The Bear” Season 4.

As soon as actor Corey Hendrix learned that Sweeps was going to become a sommelier in “The Bear,” the actor went to work.

“I started going to more tastings, reading more about wine, watching more stuff, asking more questions,” Hendrix told TheWrap.

The FX show put the actor in touch with several real somms to better his education. In that way, Hendrix’s own journey matched his character’s in Season 4. Two seasons ago, Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) tasked most of his staff with bettering their educations in the pursuit of turning the local joint the Beef into the Bear, a high-end restaurant that was a dream for Carmy and his late brother. While the show rushes through the education process for other characters, Sweeps’ drags on into Season 4, showing him fretting over wine years and ideal pairings. It’s an...

‘The Bear’ Season 4 Episode 2 Review and Ending Explained: The Underdogs Finally Get the Spotlight They Deserve
Image
The Bear Season 4 is finally here, exactly a year after Season 3 dropped, and culinary fans are eating it up. All episodes landed on June 25, 2025, and if you’re like me, you’ve already binged half the season with zero regrets. Christopher Storer didn’t just bring the heat again; he is turning the nob to the max.

This show isn’t just about a restaurant anymore. It’s about the people, the chaos, the heart behind every plate. The Berzattos, Richie (forever family), Sydney, and Tina, they all are carrying the weight. But if there’s been one tiny gripe? Some of the show’s best characters haven’t gotten the love they deserve. Well, that ends now. Because Episode 2 finally shines the spotlight on two of the most underrated MVPs in the kitchen, and it’s one of the best moves this season makes.

Ebraheim and Sweeps carry the...

The Bear season 4 episode 5 recap: An old friend returns
Image
After a great episode about Sydney in The Bear, we pick up Carmy's story in The Bear season 4 episode 5, "Replicants." We're officially halfway through the season in this episode, and it's a good one so far!

The fifth episode of the season begins at an Al-Anon or Nar-Anon meeting with a woman, Georgie, sharing a story about her experience with her brother's addiction. It's devastating as Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) watches on.

With the clock under 400 hours on Cicero's clock at The Bear, everyone at the restaurant is getting up early, getting on with the day, and making big moves. We check in with all of the employees of the restaurant, thinking about work, trying to get better, and honing their skills, including Tina (Liza Colón-Zayas), Sweeps (Corey Hendrix), and Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). Shapiro (Adam Shapiro) asks Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) to call him. While she's waiting to do that,...

The Bear season 4 episode 2 recap: Business is finally boomin'
Image
The Bear season 4 premiere opened a new can of worms for Carmy and the team. Cicero is planning to close the restaurant in two months if the team can't turn it around and make some money. Carmy has an even bigger goal: getting that Michelin Star.

The Bear season 4 episode 2 opens after a night of service. They have less than 1,000 hours left on the clock, so a decent amount of time has passed since Cicero's ultimatum. Overall, it looks like the team is struggling a little bit. Ebraheim (Edwin Lee Gibson) offers Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) some words of encouragement about opportunity. On the other hand, Marcus (Lionel Boyce), who lost his mother in season 3, is still battling. Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) offers him support.

Then, he talks to Carmy and shares how the ever-changing daily menu is killing the team. Carmy is basically going through the motions at this point.

The 10 Most Stressful Moments in 'The Bear'
Image
The Bear, created by Christopher Storer, is known for being one of the most anxiety-inducing shows on television right now. The Emmy-winning series follows Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) as he takes his late brother's restaurant, The Beef, and transforms it into a fine dining restaurant called The Bear. The series also stars Ayo Edebiri as Sydney Adamu, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richie 'Cousin' Jerimovich, Lionel Boyce as Marcus, Liza Coln-Zayas as Tina Marrero, Abby Elliott as Natalie 'Sugar' Berzatto, Matty Matheson as Fak, Edwin Lee Gibson as Ebraheim, and Corey Hendrix as Gary 'Sweeps' Woods. It is a window into the cutthroat world of the restaurant industry, from the front of the house to the kitchen. The rapid-fire dialogue paired with close-up shots, flickering visuals, and long shots by cinematographer Andrew Wehde perfectly sets up the sense of uneasiness throughout the show.

The Bear Season 3 Ending Explained: The Reviews Are In
Image
This post contains spoilers for "The Bear" season 3.

Watching all 10 episodes of the third season of "The Bear" in one sitting is, I imagine, a bit like what working at its famed Chicago restaurant might feel like. Like the behind-the-scenes world of The Bear, the viewing experience is overstimulating, rewarding, frustrating, exhausting, delicious, and chaotic. It also has the impressive effect of leaving audiences hungry for more -- even when the "food" we did get this time around was more like an experimental blood orange reduction than a hearty, satisfying beef sandwich.

"The Bear" skyrocketed to fame when it premiered on FX and Hulu in 2022, leading to a swift renewal and a relatively quick (for a post-Covid prestige cable show) one-year turn-around on season 2. The first two outings were wildly acclaimed, earning the show an impressive 10 primetime Emmy wins and 13 nominations. Stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri have seemingly...

‘The Bear’: Carmy Is Speechless In Season 3 First Look
Image
There’s still a few months until Season 3 of The Bear debuts, but Disney is holding audiences over with a clip from the upcoming installment.

The clip, revealed during Disney’s shareholder meeting on Wednesday, features Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) getting a surprise from two of his employees, Neil and Ted Fak (Matty Matheson and Ricky Staffieri).

After a bit of shouting, the pair finally get Carmy into the restaurant’s back office to see they’ve posted photos of every major food critic on the wall. Likely so that all the employees will know as soon as one of them steps foot inside the establishment.

The Bear: season 3 shoots in early 2024, Jeremy Allen White has a guest star wish list
Image
Jeremy Allen White has been receiving accolades for his work on the FX show The Bear, and this winter, he’ll be stretching his acting muscles (and actual muscles) as one of the Von Erich brothers in The Iron Claw. It was reported that the network had renewed the show for another season. Early next year, White will be firing up the grills yet again, as Deadline reports that’s when FX has booked reservations for The Bear‘s season 3 to begin production. The show aims to start shooting around February or March of 2024.

White is set to return as Carmy. However, when last we left the chef, he had found himself locked in a walk-in fridge in the middle of a ‘Friends and Family’ night that was taking place at the restaurant. Allen tells Deadline he “hopes” to escape the predicament in season 3 with a bevy of new guest stars.

‘The Bear’ Season 3 Eyes Winter 2024 Production Start; Jeremy Allen White Teases Carmy’s Fridge Escape
Image
Exclusive: Deadline has learned that Season 3 of FX/Hulu’s The Bear will commence production in late February-early March.

We caught up with current Emmy nominee and Golden Globe winner Jeremy Allen White aka young chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto on The Bear. White stars in the new A24 movie The Iron Claw as wrestler Kerry Von Erich aka “The Texas Tornado.” The movie about the tragedy-stricken wrestling Von Erich family opens on December 22. At a time when the middle of the country needs more movies, here’s a sports drama that plays straight to the heartland.

‘The Iron Claw,’ Starring Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White

When we last saw Carmy on The Bear, he was locked in a walk-in fridge during the restaurant’s Friends and Family Night, an interlude which White tells us he “hopes” the character escapes from in Season 3. FX/Hulu recently announced a Season 3 of the 13-time Emmy-nominated series.

‘Justified: City Primeval’ Episode 7 Finds the Smoking Gun and Snuffs It Out — Spoilers
Image
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Justified: City Primeval” Episode 7, “The Smoking Gun.”]

Before handing over the long sought-after murder weapon, Trennell (Joseph Anthony Byrd) asks Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) a simple question: “You sure you can use it?” Can Raylan take this gun, a gun that could’ve saved Sweety (Vondie Curtis Hall) on more than one occasion, and use it to, if not avenge his death, then bring his killer to justice? Raylan says he can. He’s sure he can. Except, by the end of Episode 7, “The Smoking Gun,” that firearm isn’t locked up in an evidence locker or even held by law enforcement. It’s at the bottom of a river. And how it got there neatly sums up Raylan’s continued frustrations with the maddening depths of a labyrinthine Detroit legal system.

Of course, the most straightforward use comes and goes the quickest. Raylan turns the gun over to Maureen Downey (Marin Ireland), as he should,...

‘The Bear’ Season 2 Review: FX and Hulu’s Surprise Hit Reinvents Itself With Bold and Bombastic New Direction
Image
There’s a convenient little portrait of exactly how “The Bear” has progressed, and what it’s pulled off, in the first shot of the Season 2 finale. The episode opens with a virtuosic, 12-minute long take that is, intentionally, a rejoinder to the 18-minute single take from the first season’s penultimate episode. Whereas the Season 1 shot maneuvered through the crumbling hellscape that is the sandwich shop known as The Beef, this one weaves through the carefully controlled chaos and polished corners of the newly opened, high-end establishment The Bear.

That juxtaposition is the easy answer to what the sophomore season of “The Bear” is about, as Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney (Ayo Edibiri), and the ragtag Beef crew pick up right from where we left off and get to building an ambitious new restaurant.

But in a season that is in many ways a complete, daring reinvention of “The Bear” — remarkably,...

‘The Bear’ Season 2 Is a Better, Richer Second Course
Image
The first season of “The Bear” opens with an invitation to chaos, before tossing you into the anarchic party itself. Carm (Jeremy Allen White) is asleep, dreaming that he’s on a bridge in the Chicago loop, where he opens a bear cage to release, what else, a live, snarling, somewhat perturbed brown bear. When he wakes up, it’s time to cook. The restaurant he inherited from his late brother Michael (Jon Bernthal) beckons, and Carm has to serve up the signature beef while putting out figurative and literal fires left and right. It’s chaos compounded with chaos, or to use a cooking metaphor: He’s out of the frying pan and into the fire.

“The Bear” Season 2 opens in silence. Well, near silence. Rather than the clicking of a gas stove flickering to life, there’s the methodical beep of a heart monitor. Marcus (Lionel Boyce) is looking over his mother,...

Hulu will serve up Season 2 of “The Bear” on June 22, FX announced on social media.

It was previously revealed that the second season of the Chicago-based restaurant dramedy would premiere sometime in June.

Starring Jeremy Allen White as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, “The Bear” follows a young, classically trained chef who returns home to Chicago to run his family’s Italian beef shop after his brother dies by suicide. The series also stars Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Edwin Lee Gibson, Abby Elliott, Corey Hendrix, Matty Matheson, Richard Esteras and Jose M. Cervantes.

Everything We Know About The Bear Season 2 And The Return Of The Thrilling Kitchen Drama
Image
"The Bear" season 1 combined comfort with chaos, providing an entertaining yet unnervingly realistic look behind the scenes of a struggling Chicago sandwich shop. The only other thing I've seen capture the fraught energy of a busy kitchen was 2021's "Boiling Point" — a film that, much like Episode 7 of "The Bear," was shot in one long take. But we're here to talk TV — specifically "The Bear" season 2, which is set to arrive later this year.

Jeremy Allen White's Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto will return to continue his journey from fine dining chef to running his late brother's "restaurant," The Original Beef of Chicagoland. The show's first eight episodes saw Carmy turn his insubordinate staff into something resembling a functioning kitchen staff, with the first season of "The Bear" ending on a positive note as the embattled business owner discovered a stash of cash left by his brother.

This time around, we've been promised a full 10-episodes,...

Variety has just learned that season 2 of The Bear will be adding Better Call Saul‘s Bob Odenkirk as a guest star. The nature of his character is being kept under wraps, and the actor and his reps have not yet commented. The Bear season 2 is set to premiere in June following the show’s impressive debut which made it the channel’s biggest hit.

Odenkirk will be pulling double duty as he is also currently starring in a new show for AMC, titled Lucky Hank. In the dark comedy Lucky Hank, Odenkirk plays an English teacher at a college who is currently struggling during a mid-life crisis. This series immediately followed his departure from the character that has served him well for many years as his hit show, Better Call Saul, would...

The details of Goodman’s character are currently unknown, but will be revealed when the FX series returns this summer. So far, most plot details are being kept under wraps.

Why Odenkirk’s Casting Is Good For The Bear

The Bear Season 2 teaser announced a premiere date for FX’s emotionally-charged kitchen drama
Image
Who’s hungry for family-style dining? FX is bringing a teaser for The Bear Season 2 to the table, and fans are hungry for the emotionally-charged drama’s anticipated return. In The Bear Season 2 teaser, the staff members of the greasy spoon, formally known as The Beef, start renovations on the restaurant. As Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Richie Jerimovich gazes out a newspaper storefront, valued family members and kitchen staff pack their belongings, demolish walls, and give customers a heads up about the restaurant’s future and name change. At the end of the teaser, a sign in the window reveals The Bear returns to FX in June.

During the season one finale of The Bear, Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto discovers a stash of money. The cash is a gift from his late brother, Michael (Jon Bernthal). Presumably, there’s enough scratch to bring the restaurant out of debt and reinvent the space...

SAG Awards nominee profile: ‘Shameless’ alum Jeremy Allen White can win twice for ‘The Bear’
Image
Despite the fact that William H. Macy pulled off an impressive three individual SAG Award wins for “Shameless” between 2015 and 2018, the 11-season series was never recognized in the comedy ensemble category. Among Macy’s perpetually overlooked cast mates was Jeremy Allen White, who moved on to a starring role on “The Bear” one year after “Shameless” concluded. Now that his new series is a proven hit with SAG voters, he not only has a long-awaited first shot at a comedy ensemble win, but could also follow in the footsteps of his former TV dad by achieving a solo victory.

White stands as the only SAG Awards newcomer in this year’s group of comedy actor nominees, which also consists of co-star pairs Anthony Carrigan and Bill Hader of “Barry” and Steve Martin and Martin Short of “Only Murders in the Building.” The latter duo originally competed in last year’s race,...

It Starts On The Page: Read Noah Hawley’s Season 4 Premiere Script For ‘Fargo’
Image
More than three years after its last installment, Season 4 of Noah Hawley’s anthology series Fargo bowed in September on FX and moved the action to 1950s Kansas City. That’s where we meet Chris Rock’s Loy Cannon and Jason Schwartzman’s Josto Fadda, a pair of gangland kingpins who square off across racial and family divides.

The season kicks off with the premiere episode “Welcome to the Alternate Economy,” written by Hawley, whose begins with a history lesson of American organized crime while setting up the key element of the 11-episode run: the two crime families are trading sons, a method intended to keep the peace.

That’s all in just the first few pages of Episode 401, the latest installment in Deadline’s It Starts On the Page, a series that highlights the scripts that are serving as the creative backbones of the TV awards season. The scripts...

Via Zoom: Bradley Grant Smith on His SXSW film, ‘Our Father’
Image
Chicago – Getting his debut film – “Our Father” – into the 2021 South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival was a major achievement for writer/director Bradley Grant Smith, and puts the spotlight on his emerging talent and perspective. Smith is also a musician … he provided the soundtrack for the film as well.

This film has a Chicago connection, as it is populated with theater folk from the Windy City and Goodman Theatre, which includes writer/director Smith. It’s the story of two sisters, Zelda (Allison Torem) and Beta (Baize Buzan), who are reunited when their father commits suicide. This begins a cavalcade of circumstances, including a bizarre encounter with their half brothers. The film takes place in a dream-like state, in which all the sister’s encounters become fodder for their status as women, and the men they come across. The great character actor Austin Pendleton makes a cameo as a key relative,...

Exclusive Poster for Bradley Grant Smith’s SXSW-Bound Our Father
Image
Fresh off the recent release of his poster for Shudder’s debut of George Romero’s “lost” film The Amusement Park, graphic designer Aleksander Walijewski has another new title utilizing a unique style that marries an old school Polish aesthetic with mainstream Hollywood gloss. It’s surely not going to be the last.

Our Father director Bradley Grant Smith hits the nail on the head when he tells us that, “Aleksander’s poster work appeals to me in general because he sees so deeply into each film’s psychology and then creates these revelatory, visual expansions of the film’s inner life—going way beyond a simple representation of the plot. One of the things I love about [his Our Father design] is how at a first, casual glance it almost looks like a Rorschach test, but then the faces start to come into focus [along with] the negative space between them. The more I look,...

A review of “Camp Elegance,” this week’s episode of Fargo, coming up just as soon as my dolls rise up and become citizens of this apartment…

“I never got to choose.” —Rabbi Milligan

There’s a scene midway through “Camp Elegance” where Loy Cannon is in his office, contemplating ways to get his son Satchel back without setting off a full-blown war with the Faddas. The man he’s discussing this with? None other than the late, great Doctor Senator. For a moment, it seems as if perhaps this...

Fargo Season 4 Release Date Revealed by FX After Delay
Billy Bob Thornton, Colin Hanks, Jason Schwartzman, and Allison Tolman in Fargo (2014)
It may have taken a while after a Covid-caused production shutdown, but Fargo‘s intriguing, Chris Rock-fronted fourth season has finally procured a premiere, with FX having officially set a September release date.

Fargo Season 4 will premiere on FX on Sunday, September 27 at 10 p.m. Et/Pt, on which the first two episodes will air. Subsequent episodes will premiere on the same Sunday timeslot individually on a weekly basis. Streamers will be interested to know that each new episode will hit Hulu the day after their FX premieres.

The release date announcement occurs after the Chicago production of Fargo was one of several to be shut down back in March. Despite having only two episodes left to shoot, the shutdown resulted in a delay to the fourth season’s original April 19 release date; a move likely designed to avoid a situation similar to shows like AMC’s The Walking Dead...
