Korean Horror Mystery ‘Devils Stay’ From ‘Exhuma’ Producer Showbox Unveils Trailer, Release Date (Exclusive)

Korea’s Showbox has unveiled a trailer and a release date for horror mystery “Devils Stay.”

Directed by Hyun Moon-seop (“Nightmare Teacher”), the cast includes Park Shin-yang, Lee Min-ki and Lee Re.

“When Seung-do (Park Shin-yang), a heart specialist, and his wife find their daughter So-mi (Lee Re) showing strange symptoms by the day, they decide to attempt an exorcism ritual. Upon arrival, priest Ban (Lee Min-ki) is sure there is the devil inside her, and the ritual seems to drive it out successfully, but ends in So-mi’s sudden death. As her funeral begins, Seung-do, who notices some strange signs in So-mi’s body, confronts his conviction that she may not be dead yet, and her heart is still beating. Showbox launches ‘Us And Them’ remake and ‘The Verdict’ at Busan Acfm (exclusive)

South Korea’s Showbox has boarded a Korean remake of Chinese romantic drama Us And Them and upcoming crime drama The Verdict.

Buyers will be introduced to both upcoming projects at the Asian Contents & Film Market, which is taking place in Busan from October 5-8.

The Korean remake, which also has the working title of Us And Them, is an adaptation of the 2018 romantic drama directed by Taiwan’s Rene Liu, which proved a box office hit in China and was saw worldwide rights acquired by Netflix.

Relocated to Seoul, the story centres on a couple who fall in love and eventually part ways.

Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s wartime romance was named best film at the 15th edition.

Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Wife Of A Spy picked up best film at the 15th Asian Film Awards (Afa), held at the Busan International Film Festival (Biff) tonight (October 8).

The Japanese wartime romance, which won a Silver Lion in Venice last year, also picked up awards for best actress (Aoi Yu) and costume design (Koketsu Haruki).

‘Wife of a Spy’ Wins Top Prize at Asian Film Awards

Kurosawa Kiyoshi’s period action drama “Wife of a Spy” was the biggest winner at the 15th edition of the Asian Film Awards. It collected three major prizes including the best film award.

The 18 prizes were handed out Friday evening at a hybrid ceremony with the in-person component held at Busan’s Paradise Hotel. Organizers said that 80 nominees attended either in person or online. Among those in Busan to tread the Afa red carpet were Korean stars and prize-winners Lee Byung-hun and Yoo Ah-in.

Directors Lee Chang-dong and Hamaguchi Ryusuke were also in attendance, along with Korean stars Jun Jong-seo, Park Jeong-min, Jang Yoon-ju, Kim Hyun-bin and Gong Seung-yeon.

South Korea’s ‘Voice Of Silence’ named best film at 2021 Fantasia Fest

Yoo Ah-in (Voice Of Silence), Zelda Adams (Hellbender) win acting prizes.

EuiJeong Hong’s South Korean thriller Voice Of Silence has won the 25th anniversary edition Fantasia International Film Festival’s Cheval Noir award for best film.

Hong’s film follows a mute low-level gangster tasked with taking charge of an 11-year-old kidnapped girl from a wealthy family. The jury described Voice Of Silence as “impossible to pin down, and truly idiosyncratic. Put simply, it’s unlike anything we’d seen before”.
