Garden of Eden (2025)
3 ‘Garden of Eden’ Clips Preview Graphic Gore and Torture
Garden of Eden (2025)
Viewer discretion is advised before watching not one, not two, but three exclusive clips from Garden of Eden — they contain graphic content that some may find disturbing.

Described as “‘American Horror Story‘ if it had a kinky and debaucherous fetish filled three-way with Martyrs and Hostel in a church pew,” the film hits digital this Friday, June 20, via Gravitas Ventures.

“After reading one specific scene in Garden of Eden, I knew that taking this role came along with a responsibility,” actress Gigi Gustin (The Retaliators), who appears in the first clip, tells Bloody Disgusting.

“In order to serve the story, I was going to have to be the most vulnerable I’ve ever been on screen before. I was going to have to go places emotionally that were uncomfortable, even for me, someone who’s very used to tapping into darkness for the sake of the character and the story,...

Grindhouse Gore Returns in Brutal New Slasher ‘Brute 1976’
Image
Cinephobia Releasing has unleashed the first look at Brute 1976, a sun-scorched slasher drenched in 1970s grit, arriving on digital and VOD platforms from 26 August. Written by Joe Knetter and directed by Marcel Walz, the film is a tribute to the dirt-caked brutality of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes, while introducing its own depraved twist on the classic desert-horror formula.

Set in the titular year, the film begins with Raquel and her girlfriend stranded on a desolate road after their car breaks down in unforgiving terrain. Nearby, a separate group embarks on a fashion photoshoot, oblivious to the horrors that await. Both parties are drawn to an abandoned town, seemingly forgotten by time, but inhabited by a violent and secretive clan. What follows is a collision of blood, panic and survival as the group face the Birdy family, a masked brood of killers who make their...

“I wish there was residuals involved”: The Real Stars Behind Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s ‘I Want It That Way’ Scene Never Got What They Truly Deserved
Image
While Andy Samberg’s comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been one of the most appreciated sitcoms of the modern day, it’s particularly the I Want It That Way lineup scene from S5E17, Dfw that catapulted the show to great heights. Turning into an iconic, fan-favorite moment, the episode was celebrated for its creativity.

But sadly while the scene earned jaw-dropping amounts of views on social media, and got reused multiple times, the real stars behind the scene never got the opportunity to bathe in its success. Due to a lack of residuals, the creators and the actors of Brooklyn Nine-Nine failed to cash on the viral moment, much like Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul had highlighted.

That’s a Wrap Review
Image
Plot: When filmmaker Mason Maestro throws a private party after production wraps on his new slasher flick, someone dressed like the killer in the movie starts knocking off the partiers one-by-one.

Review: After working together on the stalker film Blind (read my review at This Link) and its sequel Pretty Boy (which we’re still anxiously waiting to see), director Marcel Walz, screenwriter Joe Knetter, and star Sarah French have teamed up once again to launch a production company called Neon Noir. Their first production is That’s a Wrap, a giallo slasher that takes both clear inspiration from the works of Italian filmmakers like Mario Bava and Dario Argento – especially due to the fact that Walz and cinematographer Marcus Friedlander have soaked nearly every shot in colorful lighting – and from the Scream franchise, in that it’s a meta film where the characters work in the horror business.

As Terry Alexander...

‘Let It Kill You’ Exclusive Clip Spotlights a Highly Unique Practical Werewolf Transformation
Image
Making its California premiere at the Dances With Films Festival later this month, the indie werewolf short Let It Kill You looks to put a unique twist on lycanthrope mythology.

Bloody Disgusting has been told, “The story presents an intriguing concept that the Ancient Egyptian god of the dead—the Anubis—was perhaps the first-known werewolf.”

The clip that we’re exclusively sharing today features a very different practical effects werewolf transformation, with the creature emerging from a mummified-shaped cocoon.

In the film from writer/director/composer David Cornue…

“When a disillusioned American soldier unearths an alleged enemy combatant from a tomb, he fights to prove the man’s innocence, only to discover his new friend may have been buried alive for a reason.”

Let It Kill You will be screening as part of Midnight Shorts Block 1 on June 24, at 11:45pm. You can learn more over on the official Dances With Films Festival website.

Matt Bomer and Karen Gillan Among Fans of Actor Adam Bucci’s Painted Denim Jackets
Image
Adam Bucci is a Los Angeles-based actor and visual artist making a name for himself with his painted denim jackets.

Matt Bomer recently Instagrammed the jacket Bucci made for him featuring a portrait of Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in the “Alien” franchise. “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Karen Gillan also showed off a Bucci design of a majestic lion’s head on Instagram.

Bucci, 37, began his side business — officially called Small Town Weirdo — two years ago, but he refocused his energy on painting when acting jobs and the development of a werewolf film he’s working on with his husband, Adam Huss, slowed down due to the pandemic.

“After the initial shock of lockdown wore off I needed a way to stay creative,” Bucci tells Variety. “I dusted off my paints and brushes, invested in 20 jackets and got to work.” Ranging in price from $300 to $2,000, commissions can take up to 13 weeks to complete.

How Matt Leslie and Dylan Mulick Pulled Off a Zero-Budget Horror Short in Quarantine (Video)
Matt Leslie
The coronavirus has shut down film and TV production, so horror filmmakers Matt Leslie (“Summer of ’84”) and Dylan Mulick (“Nvrlnd”) decided to take matters into their own hands and film a horror short, titled “Zoom Cloud Hack – #91784 – The Tribe Murders,” in the confines of their own home.

“We got together for coffee one day, socially distanced of course, and Dylan said, ‘dude I’m climbing walls, I need to do something,’ and I said, ‘well what we can do?'” Leslie told TheWrap. “We started talking about making a horror short and Dylan came up with the Zoom idea and then we started riffing.”

A day later, the duo had a script, Mulick said. And a day and a half after that, they were fully cast with actors they felt confident in to pull together a film that wasn’t going to be pieced together on a set.

Get Ready for “EastSiders” Season 2!
Last year we were happy to share the web series EastSiders right here on TheBacklot. The dark comedy starring Van Hansis (As the World Turns) and Kit Williamson (Mad Men) made its cable broadcast debut as a feature film on LogoTV, scored wins at both the Indie Series Awards and La Web Fest, received a Satellite Award, spawned a web comic and was eventually released on DVD and VOD by Wolfe Video.

We were wondering if the cast and crew might reunite for more episodes of this great series and– great news– EastSiders will indeed begin shooting a second season this Summer!

A Kickstarter campaign was launched today to finance the new episodes. (The first season was also funded via Kickstarter, reaching it’s goal in just four days and nearly doubling it by the end of the campaign.) The goal for filming a second season has been set at...
