Biography

    • Nathan A. Jacobs, Ph.D., is an artist turned scholar turned writer/producer/director. He is most recently known for his work on the Amazon Studios Original, House of David (2025), for which he co-wrote the pilot and season finale and served as Co-Executive producer. Jacobs began his career as a fine artist, trained at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Driven by an insatiable interest in big questions, he accumulated additional degrees in philosophy and religion. During his studies, he paid the bills by doing concept art, character design, storyboards, CGI, and cut scenes in the video game industry. After years of working as a professor of philosophy and religion, publishing award-winning and field-changing books and articles, Jacobs' experience in the video game industry and his love for art and ideas converged in filmmaking. Jacobs bootstrapped a short film starring Lana Wood, followed quickly by the feature comedy Killing Poe (2016) and the feature documentary Becoming Truly Human (2017), both of which he wrote and directed. As he started development on his third feature, a paranormal thriller, his work caught the attention of studios and industry insiders, which led to a first-look deal with The Wonder Project, a new streamer initiated by Lionsgate, Starz, and Kingdom Story Company, which has since entered a partnership with Amazon Studios. Jacobs was immediately pulled into Wonder's flagship show, the $100M+ Amazon Studios Original, House of David, where he worked as a writer and Co-Executive Producer across seasons 1 and 2.
