He was born in Chelmsford, Essex, England, to parents of Scottish origin, Jacquie and Gordon Lowden. His brother Calum, is a ballet soloist. They were raised in Oxton, in the Scottish Borders.
Won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor as 'Oswald' in the 2014 West End revival of 'Ghosts'.
