K-Pop Demon Hunters Becomes No. 1 On Netflix: Do You Know The Real Voices Behind The Saja Boys?
Image
Know The Voices Behind The Saga Boys Of Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters!(Photo Credit –Netflix)

Spoiler Alert: The following article discusses some key revelations and plot points from K-Pop Demon Hunters.

K-Pop Demon Hunters, an animated action-fantasy movie, was recently released on Netflix. Within a day, it debuted at the No. 1 spot on the Ott platform’s global film chart, leaving everyone surprised. The storyline revolves around a K-pop girl group that also happens to fight against evil. The film’s Usp is that the creators beautifully blended K-pop with supernatural thrills in the form of animation.

For those who don’t know, the Netflix movie is set in Korea but in a different, alternative, vibrant dimension. The story follows a girl group, Huntrix, and its members, Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, who have superpowers to slay demons, apart from chartbuster performances. Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and produced by Sony Pictures Animation,...

Netflix's New Fantasy Adventure Movie With Squid Game Star Debuts With Strong Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
A new Netflix movie starring one of the leads of Squid Game is doing well on Rotten Tomatoes. The South Korean survival thriller Squid Game is one of the streaming service's biggest original series of all time, with season 1's 256.2 million views making it the most-watched season on the platform and season 2's 192.6 million making it the third most-watched. The series, which was created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, follows a group of adults competing in deadly children's games for a big cash prize.

Because most of the core characters were killed over the course of season 1, there are very few members of the Squid Game cast who have appeared in both seasons. These core stars include Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun (Player 456), Wi Ha-joon as Detective Hwang Jun-ho, and Lee Byung-hun as Hwang In-ho (The Front Man). All three stars are also set to appear in the upcoming season 3, which is set to conclude the series.

Most Fans Don't Know the Real Story Behind The Lord of the Rings Films' Most Iconic Location
Image
Quick LinksThe Hobbiton Set Was Abandoned For a Year, But Not Without ReasonThe Hobbiton Set Became a Permanent Fixture in New ZealandHobbiton is a Testament to The Lord of the Rings Films' Cultural Impact

The Shire, more specifically the village of Hobbiton, is arguably the most iconic location from Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. It was the home of the series' protagonist, Frodo Baggins, as well as other hobbits, such as Bilbo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Meriadoc Brandybuck, and Peregrin Took. It felt like home to the audience as well; the prologue of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring mainly took place in the desolate wasteland of Mordor, so the Shire offered the first true glimpse of a Middle-earth civilization. The opening of The Fellowship of the Ring devoted a significant amount of time to establishing the Shire and the hobbits who lived there,...

Die-Hard Lord of the Rings Fans Don't Know Much About 1 Aspect of Sauron's Army (& It's For the Best)
Image
Quick LinksThe Great Beasts Carried the Orcs' Most Devastating WeaponThe Great Beasts Had Many Designs and Many Origins

The Battle of the Pelennor Fields from Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King showcased some of the fantasy animals employed by Sauron's army. Most notable were the oliphaunts, or mûmakil as they were known in their native land of Harad. They were similar to elephants, but they were far larger and sported two additional pairs of tusks. Haradrim warriors rode atop the oliphaunts, using them both to trample their enemies and to provide high ground for archers.

Just as significant as the physical threat they posed was the fear and confusion that they instilled in the Gondorians and Rohirrim, who had never seen such massive creatures before. The oliphaunts were more extreme versions of the war elephants used in real-world historical combat. Though oliphaunts received the most attention,...

“Michael Jackson had 13 Grammys, Elvis had 3”: Beyoncé Doesn’t Deserve 35 Grammys, Hate Against Queen B Gets Out of Hands After Billie Eilish Snub
Image
Wow, what a shocker! Beyoncé somehow managed to collect 35 Grammy Awards, after her recent win at this year’s ceremony, while true legends like Michael Jackson, The Beatles, and Elvis Presley have barely managed to scratch the surface with their wins. It seems that netizens have finally realized how talent and cultural impact mean nothing when it comes to the Recording Academy’s decision-making.

Otherwise, Billie Eilish would have surely won the Grammy. But it became yet another night in the history of the music industry where Beyoncé walked away victorious, robbing Eilish of her deserving success. Fans are thus furious with how the Grammy Awards snubbed the Ocean Eyes singer, just to make room for Queen B’s ever-growing trophy collection.

The Lord of the Rings: Every Gandalf Staff, Explained
Image
Quick Links Gandalf Used the Staff of a Different Wizard Gandalf's Staff Replacements Went Unexplained in The Lord of the Rings Gandalf Brought His Final Staff to the Undying Lands

One of Gandalf's most recognizable traits in The Lord of the Rings was his use of a wooden staff, which he employed both as a walking stick and as a tool to assist in his magic spells. It was such an important aspect of his character that it became part of his name; Gandalf meant "Staff Elf" or "Wand Elf" in Old Norse. But in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies, Gandalf did not carry just one staff. Throughout his time in Middle-earth, he went through five different staves. Chronologically, Gandalf made his earliest appearance in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and this film introduced his first known staff. It was a simple wooden branch,...

The First Showgirls: How the Folies Bergère Became Las Vegas’ Most Enduring Hit
Image
Va-va-voom ostrich-plumed showgirls were once synonymous with Las Vegas entertainment. While Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl explores the end of an era for the glitzy, glamorous dancers, the first showgirls were introduced to the U.S. in The Ziegfield Follies, a series of revues on Broadway from 1907 to 1927, inspired by the famed dancers at the Folies Bergère in Paris.

Initially kicking off in 1869 in a Parisian cabaret hall, the Folies Bergère launched the career of Josephine Baker, who made a splash in 1926 dancing topless with strategically placed pearls and a skirt composed of artificial bananas. Fast forward to Christmas Eve, 1959, when Lou Walters — then-entertainment director for the lavish Tropicana Las Vegas and father of broadcast journalist Barbara Walters — imported the sensational Folies Bergère act directly from Paris. Touching down in a pre-Cirque du Soleil era when French revues were all the rage, it went on to become the longest-running show in Vegas history,...

8 Things Every Lord Of The Rings Fan Needs To Know About War Of The Rohirrim
Image
Before making its grand return to the big screen later this year, Middle-earth invaded New York Comic Con this week and gave attendees a taste of what to expect from "The Lord of the Rings: The War of The Rohirrim." The very existence of the film marks a first for this franchise. In a narrative and stylistic choice that harkens back to the property's roots with Ralph Bakshi's 1978 animated "Lord of the Rings" adaptation and the Rankin-Bass "The Return of the King" two years later, the upcoming movie unfolds entirely as anime. Of course, certain purists may not feel like this style fully lends itself to J.R.R. Tolkien's wonderfully distinct world -- particularly one that takes place within the same continuity as Peter Jackson's "Rings" trilogy. But if there's any message that the film's cast and crew are hoping to send, it's that this is the...

Image

Today’s BTS video for The War of the Rohirrim brings us behind the magic of Kamiyama’s film, highlighting the painstaking process of creating a high-concept fantasy adventure from scribbles and scratches.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim BTS video begins with rough pencil sketches of characters and mythical locales before showcasing charcoal drawings and the storyboarding process. After completing the look of the world and its characters,...

Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim Trailer Brings Anime Battles To Middle-Earth
Image
Forth Eorlingas! With The Rings Of Power's return to our screens mere days away, and Andy Serkis' intriguing The Hunt For Gollum movie looming on the horizon, Middle-earth is well and truly back on the menu. But among the projects based on J. R. R. Tolkien's legendary fantasy series heading our way, perhaps most exciting — and certainly most unique — is Lord Of The Rings: War Of The Rohirrim, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex director Kenji Kamiyama's upcoming anime movie set two centuries before Peter Jackson's iconic trilogy. Produced by Rings veteran Phillipa Boyens alongside Jackson and Fran Walsh, Kamiyama's film stars Brian Cox as Helm Hammerhand, the club-fisted King of Rohan who gave Helm's Deep its name. And if its jaw-slackening, just-dropped first trailer is anything to go by, War Of The Rohirrim will definitely live up to its name. Check it out below...

The War Of The Rohirrim Trailer Gives The Lord Of The Rings The Anime Treatment
Image
Nearly 20 years after "The Return of the King" brought the original "Lord of the Rings" trilogy to a close, fans are about to go on yet another adventure in Peter Jackson's distinctive version of Middle-earth -- and it's utterly unlike anything we've seen from this franchise before. Prime Video's "The Rings of Power" has provided a welcome return to author J.R.R. Tolkien's groundbreaking fantasy world, but the series remains otherwise unconnected to the films that most audiences consider the definitive adaptations of the source material. That all changes with "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim."

Warner Bros. has finally unleashed the first official trailer for the prequel film (watch above), giving us a chance to sink our teeth into the new footage like Gollum taking a bite out of some fish, raw and wriggling. The official synopsis is as follows:

The Rings of Power: First Look at the New Rings of Season 2
Image
When you’re making a TV show called The Rings of Power, there’s a lot of pressure on whoever has to make and design the actual titular rings. The team working on season two of Amazon Prime’s Lord of the Rings series had another challenge as well. Season one was shot in New Zealand, but production shifted to the UK for season two, and as a result, many of the crew behind the scenes only just joined the project this season, including production designer Kristian Milsted, supervising art director Martin Foley, and set decorator Tina Jones, taking over from season one’s Ramsey Avery, Jules Cook, and Megan Vertelle, respectively.

This means that the various Rings of Power in the show will be designed and made by different people in the real world, but they still need to look like they have been made by the same two...

Oscars outrage: ‘The Lord of the Rings’ should have won these 5 races
Image
In 2004, “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” became the film with joint-most Oscar wins of all time with a whopping 11 victories, matching the total tallies of both “Titanic” and “Ben-Hur.” Those 11 Academy Awards capped off a hugely successful trilogy of movies that collectively snagged 28 Oscar nominations and 17 wins in total. But yet… Peter Jackson‘s film series, adapted from the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, is so, so good that, well, it could have won more. That sounds greedy and over the top, of course, but if you take a look at each film’s nominations, it’s actually very feasible that any one of the three films could have turned the bid into a win. So, with that in mind, here are five Oscar nominations that “The Lord of the Rings” films could and perhaps should have turned into victories.

Best Art Direction — “The Fellowship of the Ring...

‘Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim’ Release Delayed Until December 2024
Brian Cox, Gaia Wise, and Luca Pasqualino in Le Seigneur des Anneaux : La Guerre des Rohirrim (2024)
New Line’s new animated movie, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, is moving from its April 12, 2024 release date to Dec. 13 next year.

The move stems from a chain-reaction of Warner Bros re-dating today, spurred by Legendary Entertainment’s Dune: Part Two going from Nov. 3 this year to March 15, 2024, which then pushed that financier and producer’s other title, Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire from that date to April 12, 2024. Dune: Part Two had to move had to shift on account of the unavailability of its cast to promote during the actors strike.

War of the Rohirrim will now face off on its new December date against Sony’s reboot of The Karate Kid.

The anime feature, directed by Kenji Kamiyama, is set 183 years before the events chronicled in the original New Line Lord of the Rings trilogy. Those Peter Jackson movies, in addition to his Hobbit trilogy,...

Tolkien Fans are in for a packed year, and it’s starting earlier than expected. New Line and Warner Bros. announced Monday that “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim,” its upcoming animated film directed by Kenji Kamiyama, will land in theaters April 12.

The film, per the official announcement, “explores and expands the untold story behind the fortress of Helm’s Deep, delving into the life and bloodsoaked times of one of Middle-earth’s most legendary figures; the mighty King of Rohan – Helm Hammerhand.”

Animation is still underway on the film and the voice cast will be announced soon.

Oscar winner Philippa Boyens, co-screenwriter for the original “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogies, executive produced the film, which was produced by Joseph Chou (“Blade Runner: Black Lotus” TV series). It was written by Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou, based on a script from Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews.
