The Association of Independent Commercial Producers has launched an Equity & Inclusion Committee “to help the industry cast a wider net for talent, create opportunities for mentorship and advancement for people of color, and establish hiring practices that more easily facilitate a means of entry to the industry.”

The committee is chaired by Tabitha Mason-Elliott, who is head of production and a partner at the Bark Bark commercial production company in Atlanta. She is also president of the Aicp’s southeast chapter and a national board member of Aicp, which says it represents producers of 85% of all domestic commercials aired nationally.

Whether this is the first true movie of the #MeToo movement or not, Bombshell is a film that utilizes disgust. Coursing through its cinematic veins is an incredible anger at the men in power who prey upon women. Even when the plot itself can remain surface level at times, the angry nature of it, a righteous anger that’s easily identified with, helps rule the day. Throw in two phenomenal performances, two solid supporting performances, as well as an unlikely ability to make this all still entertaining, and you have something very interesting. Jay Roach’s “Bombshell” had its first screening in Los Angeles on October 13 and left the awards prognosticators in attendance dazzled thanks to its strong performances. The movie, which finds Roach back in political mode a la his Emmy-winning HBO movies “Recount” and “Game Change,” is a ripped-from-the-headlines drama about the sexual misconduct at Fox News. Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman star as real-life figures Megyn Kelly and Gretchen Carlson, both of whom accused Fox CEO Roger Ailes of sexual harassment, while Margot Robbie plays a Fox News worker who is a fictional composite character. Bombshell follows late, disgraced Fox News CEO and chairman Roger Ailes’ fall from grace at the network after being accused of sexual harassment by numerous women, including Kelly and Gretchen Carlson, played by Nicole Kidman in the movie.
