“Call Me Bae Is A Kaleidoscope Of Fun, Frolic & Message ” – A Subhash K Jha Review
Image
Collin D’Cunha surely has what it takes. Call Me Bae, which is streaming on Amazon Prime from September 6, is no ordinary happening. It is monstrously entertaining and insanely binge-worthy. What’s more, it doesn’t make any concerted effort to seduce us into its storytelling.

It doesn’t need to. It breaks all the rudimentary rules of the streaming business with content that is unapologetically formulistic and emphatically entertaining. The series is at once a jolt to the norm and a visit to La La Land.

Every character is real yet fairytale-like. Good looks are prerequisite. But no one here is an airhead. The protagonist discusses Naipaul with as much authority as Gucci. The idea is to tease audiences with a high dose of the don’t-we-know-this-character aphrodisiac.

Vir Das is especially a scream as a self-obsessed news journalist who shouts his way into nightly attention through the TRPs. The rest of the cast too,...

Karan Johar

PeepingMoon.com can now confirm that Jug Jugg Jeeyo 2 is officially happening, though it might come with a different title and serve as more of a spiritual sequel.

“What makes Love Storiyaan so desirable is its unwavering mood of love conquers all ” – A Subhash K Jha Review
Image
Love Storiyaan

Except for one story in this six-tiered ache cake with no icing, there is nothing unusual about the love stories that are a part of this cuddlesome omnibus.

What makes Love Storiyaan so desirable is its unwavering mood of love conquers all. Aekta and Ullekh in the first story, An Unsuitable Girl, directed by Hardik Mehta are hardly your Romeo and Juliet. She is a 40-plus divorcee with two grownup daughters. He is a patient suitor. And the real story here is between Ullek and Aekta’s younger daughter whom he must win over before marriage happens.

It is this quality of deflected affinity that often takes the seemingly routine relationship to the level close to an epic love story.

In the second story, Love On Air, set in arresting Assam, directed by Vivek Soni (whose voice is the third protagonist from behind the camera) two disc jockeys Rajni and Nick,...

Dedicated to everyone who has ever loved, lost and was bold enough to fall in love again, the episodes feature inspired stories from Priya Ramani, Niloufer Venkatraman and Samar Halarnkar’s popular Instagram handle #IndiaLoveProject.

An anthology of six short films, this is as diverse as it can get. The construct is deliberately an attempt...
