Kwento Comics and Clover Press are partnering on a Kickstarter for The Mask of Haliya: Heir to the Warrior Moon, a graphic novel inspired by Philippine mythology. It is the first book in a series and features an all-Asian, all-female creative team. The story follows Marisol Reyes, a young woman who, after finding an ancient and powerful wooden mask, must navigate new abilities and visions while facing new foes. The series focuses on marginalized stories by marginalized creators, known as the Own Voices movement. Kwento Comics aims to create more leading Asian female characters and highlight talented Asian women artists. Clover Press will distribute the series, acknowledging the importance of Filipino representation in comics. The graphic novel will be funded via Kickstarter.
