Colin McDermott started acting at the age of 10 and has been doomed
ever since.
He trained at the Salt Lake City Repertory Children's Theater for a number of years and attended the Theater School for Youth at the University of Utah in the summers. In 2007, as a senior in high school, he began his education in film/t.v. production by anchoring news broadcasts as a crew member of T.V. West as well as cast as the lead 'Pierre' in West High's production of 'The Madwoman of Chaillot'.
He attended the University of Utah, continuing his education in Acting and Production, graduating in 2010 with a B.A. in Film and Media Arts. While at University Colin was awarded the Governor's Scholar Award for academic achievement through his enrollment in L.E.A.P. He was the Access Grid Operator and Performance Manager for Another Language Performing Arts Company's Telematic "Interplays" at the Center for High Performance Computing from '07-'10.
After graduating Colin traveled frequently between Utah, Los Angeles and New York City looking for opportunities for work. During his time in NYC he Produced and shot music videos for the Harlem rapper Jim Jones's song "Letter to the Game" with Producer/Director Myriam Schroeter, as well as independent artist Cody Robinson's song "The Passenger". After struggling to find connections, working sparse reality t.v. and commercial jobs, feeling quite lost in the world, the opportunity to work in the film industry came, not in N.Y.C. or L.A. but in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Colin was apart of the teams that won "Best Film" for the Salt Lake City 48 Hour film project in 2009, 2012, and 2013. In 2009 as a Production Assistant, then in 2012 as the Co-Director, and 2013 as the Writer, Director and DP. Each year he attended the Filmapalooza Festival in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New Orleans with Producer and Team Leader Connor Rickman.
He signed with Rob Diamond Talent early 2014 and is now auditioning for projects casting within the state of Utah. He is looking for representation for acting outside the state of Utah.
