Rebecca Finch
At the end of September, JoBlo Media and Octane Multimedia teamed up to launch a new YouTube channel named JoBlo TV, which hosts multiple feature films to watch for free throughout the week. The genres we’ll be focusing on at JoBlo TV are Action, Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Thrillers – and the free movies we shared this week covered pretty much all of those categories!

This week’s line-up consisted of the mystery thriller Buoyancy, the sci-fi horror film The Alpha Test, and the martial arts action movie The Man from Kathmandu. Here’s some information on each of them:

Written and directed by Roel Leijten, Buoyancy has the following synopsis: When an overly ambitious student gets invited for a submarine journey by an eccentric entrepreneur, she comes to realize that deep-down inside people are not who they pretend to be. The film stars Rebecca Finch, Michael Wagner, Eline Havenaar,...

‘Reign of Chaos’ Review
Image
Stars: Rebecca Finch, Peter Cosgrove, Mark Sears, Rita Di Tuccio, Georgia Wood | Written by Tom Joliffe | Directed by Rebecca Matthews

Proportion Productions are back with a slice of apocalyptic horror directed by Rebecca Matthews, flying solo this time without her partner in crime Scott Jeffrey; and writer Tom Joliffe, who some may know from his work on the website Flickering Myth but has also penned a number of British genre films in recent years, including Tooth Fairy: The Last Extraction, The Legend of Jack and Jill and The Leprechaun’s Curse. So we should know what to expect from Reign of Chaos, whose plot seems a bit more extravagant (i.e. larger scale) than the typical Proportion Productions film.

Reign of Chaos sets its stall out from the get-go, with an opening narration that explains that chaos has ravaged earth, literally (its the god Chaos), with a plague of the gods that is overwhelming mankind,...

Three Sisters Take on Evil in Indie Action Film 'Reign of Chaos' Trailer
Rebecca Finch
"These three sisters have trained for this moment." Left Films has debuted a trailer for an indie action film titled Reign of Chaos, made by filmmaker Rebecca Matthews. This never premiered at any festivals and it mostly looks like direct-to-vhs junk, but maybe it crosses over into so-bad-it's-good territory. When the world is gripped by a plague unleashed by the evil lord Chaos, and humans are turned into rabid creatures, mankind can only be saved by three young women, descendants of a Goddess, with the power to stop Chaos' evil. It's a very strange, very confusing concept here. If it isn't the plague, then what exactly is it? Reign of Chaos stars Rebecca Finch, Marc Outbreak, Peter Cosgrove, and Rita Di Tuccio as Alina. This looks like it's all bark, no bite, with some heavy make-up thrown onto bad performances. Though you never know? Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Rebecca Matthews' Reign of Chaos,...

‘Shadowland’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Amelia Eve, Rebecca Finch, Vivien Taylor, Stuart Daly, Tony Greengrass, Jason Harvey, Lily Cooper, Colin MacDougall, Keenan Ben, Susan Coyle | Written and Directed by Simon Kay

If you ask horror fans to name some Scottish horror films, they probably wouldn’t have a long list ready. That said, you could count The Descent, Dog Soldiers and The Wicker Man on the list so there aresome great movies in there. Could Shadowland place its name among them?

The biggest talking point about Shadowland, both before you see it and after, is that one of its leads is Amelia Eve. If that name rings any bells, that’s because she played Jamie in Mike Flanagan’s brilliant Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor. And she was superb in one of the lead roles in that show so it’s quite a coup to get her starring in your new low-budget horror thriller movie.

Freedom (2019)
First Trailer for Submarine Drama 'Buoyancy' Starring Rebecca Finch
Freedom (2019)
"If you can't go out to have fun, you have to go inwards." High Octane Pictures has released an official trailer for an indie "sci-fi" thriller titled Buoyancy, the feature directorial debut of Dutch filmmaker Roel Leijten. The film tells the story of an ambitious young woman who is invited on a submarine by an eccentric entrepreneur. This is very clearly a fictional version of the horrifying true story of eccentric entrepreneur Peter Madsen, who murdered a young woman on his submarine. This was also turned into a doc last year called Into the Deep. Buoyancy stars Rebecca Finch, Michael Wagner, Portia Booroff, and Simon Rhys-Jones. Alas, this film looks super cheesy with so many elements of the story excessively exaggerated. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Roel Leijten's Buoyancy, direct from YouTube: When an overly ambitious student (Rebecca Finch) gets invited for a submarine journey by an eccentric entrepreneur,...
