Biography

    • Alison Kathleen Kelly is a British writer and producer based in London with over a decade of experience in the film industry. A UCLA Extension alumna and member of The Writers' Guild of Great Britain, she directed the Western short A Grave Mistake (2012) while at UCLA. Alison has produced acclaimed works such as The Visit, starring Odessa Rae and Sharon Lawrence, the award-winning short Perfect People, and the feature film The Underdog (2024).

As a screenwriter, she was a BlueCat Quarterfinalist for her sci-fi feature Body and co-writer of The Trials of Zander Peterson, winner of the Las Vegas Film Festival's Golden Ace Award. Her sci-fi feature Rogue Robot and animated feature Duck Story: The Lost Eagle have also earned recent competition recognition. In 2023, Alison was a finalist in the Universal Global Writers Programme, in partnership with Working Title Films, with her fantasy project Bad Magic.

Most recently, Alison co-wrote Hearts of Stone (2024) with Academy Award-nominated director Tom Van Avermaet, starring Noomi Rapace and Jessica Barden. The film won seven awards in 2024, including Best International Short Film at the prestigious LA Shorts International Film Festival and the Grand Prize - Best Short Film Live Action at the Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival. It also reached the long list for the 97th Academy Awards in 2025.

Alison is developing multiple projects, including two TV pilots: a supernatural dark comedy series and Bad Magic, a fantasy series exploring a Brexit-like magical upheaval in modern-day England. She is also developing Dark Heart, a short film about a family man who receives a heart transplant from a serial killer, as well as a biopic about two pioneers of emergency medicine and an action feature.
