Did somebody order a buzzkill? Although The Voice’s sudden-death Playoffs are ordinarily a time of high excitement on the show, since Season 13’s were taped rather than being aired live, we wouldn’t get to vote for our favorite contestant(s) until the contenders were whittled down to the Top 12; the decisions before then would rest entirely in the hands (ears?) of the coaches. Tuesday’s episode of The Voice left Season 13’s Knockouts in the rearview mirror and me feeling reflective — mainly about how easy it was to pick the standouts from this eh-ok crop of contestants. My once-high expectations for Anthony Alexander have been lowered. After Monday’s “Behind These Hazel Eyes,” I still think of Moriah Formica as rock but not rock-solid. Miley Cyrus just can’t keep still during one performance on Monday’s “The Voice.” As seen in an exclusive sneak peek from the NBC competition series, a knockout performance from Jennifer Hudson’s team pits Chris Weaver against Katrina Rose. On Tuesday’s premiere of The Voice, the 36-year-old Grammy and Oscar winner kicked off her first season as a coach by giving the show one of its most memorable moments in 13 seasons. Moved by contestant Chris Weaver’s version of “Try a Little Tenderness,” Hudson took off a shoe and threw it right at the stage.
