Errol Morris Tackles 'Chaos: The Manson Murders' in New Documentary
Image
Errol Morris, director of the iconic true-crime documentary The Thin Blue Line, has partnered up with Netflix again in order to make a documentary about the Manson murders. The title is Chaos: The Manson Murders, and it's set to be released by Netflix on March 7, 2025.

Chaos: The Manson Murders is based on the 2019 book, Chaos: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties, by Tom O'Neill with Dan Piepenbring. The book offers an alternate version of the story that flowed into the mainstream in 1974 when case prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi released the bestseller Helter Skelter — becoming the version of the murders with which we are all familiar. In O'Neill's book, however, he argues that the 1969 Tate–Labianca murders committed by the Manson Family could have been associated with the CIA program Operation Chaos, which focused on domestic espionage.

Netflix Adds Documentaries on Manson Murders, Osama Bin Laden and the Titan Submarine to 2025 Slate
Image
Prepare for some captivating documentaries and docuseries from Netflix this year. The streamer announced during its Next on Netflix event that it will be premiering new projects about the Manson murders, Osama Bin Laden, the Titan submarine implosion and Hurricane Katrina, just to name a few of its upcoming buzzy docs.

The first major new documentary release is a big one. The documentary film “Chaos: The Manson Murders” will premiere on March 7. From legendary filmmaker Errol Morris, who previously released “The Thin Blue Line” and “The Fog of War,” little is known about this project other than its subject matter. The film is likely based on Tom O’Neill’s “Chaos: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties.” Morris, Robert Fernandez and Steven Hathaway serve as producers.

That will then be followed by “American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden,” which will premiere on March 10. The upcoming docuseries offers...

Netflix Dates Docs On Manson Murders & Pangolin Rescue Sting Operation; Teases Additional Films On Titan Submersible & U.S. Air Force’s Thunderbirds
Image
Netflix has shared new information and materials on four feature docs premiering on the streamer this year: Air Force Elite: Thunderbirds, Chaos: The Manson Murders, Titan, and Pangolin: Kulu’s Journey.

Both newly announced titles, Chaos: The Manson Murders and Pangolin were dated for release on March 7 and April 21, respectively. Chaos had no logline attached — though the title leaves little to the imagination, as to the film’s subject. The film is directed by Academy Award winner Errol Morris (The Thin Blue Line), who also produced alongside Robert Fernandez and Steven Hathaway.

Meanwhile, Pangolin: Kulu’s Journey is said to tell the story of a man who finds new purpose when he helps rescue a baby pangolin, one of the most trafficked animals in the world, in a sting operation in South Africa. As the doc’s subject leaves the city, he embarks on a heartfelt mission to rehabilitate and...

‘The Meltdown: Three Mile Island’ Trailer: An Explosive Atomic Conspiracy Is Untangled
Image
A four-part Netflix documentary sheds new light on the staggering effects of the near-catastrophe at the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in 1979.

The Middletown, Pennsylvania-based plant suffered a breakdown in 1979, and series “Meltdown: Three Mile Island” reexamines the series of missteps that led to the national cover-up. Academy Award–nominated director Kief Davidson (“The Ivory Game”) collaborates with “Erin Brockovich” producers Michael and Carla Shamberg and Moxie Pictures to tell the true story of what happened at Three Mile Island’s “first step in a nuclear nightmare,” as the trailer states. “Meltdown” premieres May 4.

The four-part documentary reveals how it all unfolded in real time, the impact on the community, and the personal account of chief engineer and whistleblower, Richard Parks, who had the courage to speak up and prevent a near catastrophe for the East Coast. Dramatic reenactments, archival footage, never-before-seen home video, and in-depth interviews bring viewers...
