Hard as it may be to believe, it's been over six years since Marvel Studios announced that Mahershala Ali was set to star as the titular vampire slayer in a new MCU Blade movie.
Numerous delays and setbacks followed, and we got the disappointing news that the project had been removed from Marvel's slate late last year. Though a report that the movie was on indefinite hold followed, we were led to believe that Blade had simply delayed (again) and would eventually move forward.
Ali was asked about the status of the film while being interviewed on the red carpet of last night's Jurassic World Rebirth premiere, and it sounds like he is still more than willing to suit-up as the Daywlker - but the ball is very much in the studio's court.
"Call Marvel," the actor said to Variety. "I’m ready. Let them know I’m ready."

Like the rest of us, David S. Goyer is wondering why Marvel Studios is having so much trouble cracking the long-awaited Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali, and has offered his services to Kevin Feige should he need any help getting the project back on track.
Goyer, who wrote the scripts for all three movies in the original Blade trilogy and directed 2004's Blade: Trinity, was asked if he would have any interest in writing the MCU reboot during an interview with Screen Rant.
“I would. I’ve always loved the character and I love him. I’ve been sitting on the sidelines wondering, ‘What in the world is going on? Why is it taking so long?’ Because I’m a huge Marvel fan myself, and I’ve just been totally puzzled.”

David S. Goyer recently told ScreenRant that he is more than ready to answer the call should Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios need him to write Mahershala Ali’s long-delayed “Blade” movie. Goyer is no stranger to the comic book vampire hunter, having written all three movies in Wesley Snipes’ original “Blade” trilogy. He even stepped in to direct 2004’s “Blade: Trinity.”
“I would. I’ve always loved the character and I love him,” Goyer said when asked if he would write Marvel’s “Blade” reboot for the MCU. “I’ve been sitting on the sidelines wondering, ‘What in the world is going on? Why is it taking so long?’ Because I’m a huge Marvel fan myself, and I’ve just been totally puzzled.”
Marvel originally announced its “Blade” movie with Ali in July 2019, but development has been rocky as several writers and directors have come and gone over the years.

The fact that there was going to be a Blade reboot as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starring Mashershala Ali in the title role, came as a huge surprise when the announcement was made at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July of 2019… but we’re coming up on the six year anniversary of that announcement, and we still haven’t seen a new Blade movie. The closest we’ve gotten is Ali making a vocal cameo as the character at the end of Eternals back in 2021. Now, we don’t know if we’re going to get a Blade reboot at all – which is baffling to David S. Goyer, who wrote the trilogy of Blade films that were released between 1998 and 2004 and also created the short-lived Blade TV series that ran for 13 episodes in 2006. His advice to Marvel Studios: “Give me a call.”

One former Blade writer says he knows how to fix the MCU’s troubled vampire movie that has undergone so much turmoil it's been removed from the release schedule entirely. With no director currently attached and only Mahershala Ali and Mia Goth remaining in the cast, things are looking bleak for Blade at the moment. It’s been more than 20 years since Wesley Snipes wrapped up his Blade trilogy, which was penned by David S. Goyer, who also directed Blade: Trinity. Goyer recently caught up with ScreenRant at the premiere for his new Apple TV+ series, Murderbot, and when asked what Marvel Studios needs to do to crack the code of a successful Blade movie, he simply said, "Give me a call." Goyer was also asked if he would pen the script for the MCU’s Blade if he was asked:

Though Blade was removed from Marvel Studios' slate late last year, we had heard that the movie was simply delayed and would eventually move forward. Unfortunately, this no longer seems to be the case.
Despite recent reports that the MCU reboot was still on track to commence production in the UK at some point later this year, insider Daniel Richtman claims to have confirmed that Blade has now been put "on indefinite hold."
Backing up this claim is recording artist/DJ Flying Lotus, aka Steven Ellison, who has taken to X to reveal that he had signed on to write the music for the project before things fell through - and he does not sound optimistic about the film getting back on track.
I guess we are so far from it even being a possibility now but. Yeah I was signed on to write music for the new Blade movie before it fell thru.

For two seemingly endless years, fans have been waiting for an update regarding the fate of this Amazon Prime Video dystopian drama, and now, there’s finally news about whether it will return or not. The Power, starring Toni Collette, premiered on March 31, two years ago and ran until May 12, comprising nine episodes. Unfortunately, it appears that it will not return for another run, as TVLine has confirmed that “The Power is, in fact, canceled.”
With The Power not getting a Season 2 after all these years, fans will no doubt be disappointed. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t hurt to rewatch the first season, which has earned generally favorable reviews. In addition to Collette, who portrays the mayor of Seattle, Margot Cleary-Lopez, the sci-fi thriller stars Auli’i Cravalho as Margot's daughter Jos; John Leguizamo as her husband and Jos’ father Dr. Rob Lopez; Hallee Bush as Allie Montgomery, an adoptee into...

Though Blade was removed from Marvel Studios' slate late last year, we had heard that the movie was simply delayed and would eventually move forward. Now, we have a not-so-positive update.
Despite recent reports that the MCU reboot was still on track to commence production in the UK at some point later this year, scooper Mttsh believes that Blade has is now "on indefinite hold."
Last we heard, the latest draft by Eric Pearson - who is the sixth writer to have been assigned to the project after Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Beau DeMayo and Nic Pizzolatto - had "finally satisfied everyone involved," but clearly this isn't the case.
Apparently, the real reason Blade was pushed back again is because Marvel is prioritizing Multiversal stories in the build-up to Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. So, it may not be a case of the studio struggling to "get Blade right,...

There have been numerous theories and rumors relating to Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' fourth solo Spider-Man movie, and speculation really kicked up a few notches when some pretty wild reports about which characters could be involved in the story started doing the rounds a couple of months back.
Now, a new rumor may give us a better idea of what to expect.
According to Daniel Richtman, Spider-Man 4 is basically being developed as "a direct sequel" to Avengers: Doomsday that will bridge the gap between the 2026 film and 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars.
We have heard that Tom Holland's wall-crawler is going to have a major role in Doomsday, so Spider-Man 4 serving as a follow-up (to at least some extent) would make sense.
Though Spidey didn't feature in the recent MCU concept art that found its way online, the images did lead to some intriguing theories relating to...

Michael B. Jordan said in an interview with GQ magazine that he’s not concerned about the future of Marvel despite the franchise’s wobbly track record as of late. While the MCU hit a high last year with the record-breaking “Deadpool & Wolverine,” the year prior saw flops like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “The Marvels” sink Marvel Studios to previously unforeseen lows. Jordan’s GQ cover was also published amid disappointing reviews for Marvel’s latest tentpole, “Captain America: Brave New World” (53% on Rotten Tomatoes from 133 reviews).

Marvel recently updated its release schedule for 2024, 2025, and beyond. 2025 will be packed with both live-action and animated releases, with many projects already in production or set to begin soon.
The studio’s filming schedule is busy, with Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man 4, and Vision Quest all expected to start filming in 2025, mostly in England.
Industry insider Daniel Richtman recently revealed that there’s one more Marvel project planned to begin filming in the UK in the fall of 2025.
This information was shared through Richtman’s paid newsletter and hasn’t been officially confirmed by Marvel. With so many rumored and confirmed projects in the works, it’s hard to keep track, but there are a few movies that seem more likely than others.
One possibility for the untitled movie is Shang-Chi 2. In December 2021, Marvel announced a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, with Destin Daniel Cretton returning as writer and director.

Marvel Studios recently took Mahershala Ali’s long-delayed “Blade” movie off its release calendar, but studio president Kevin Feige is telling fans not to worry about whether or not the iconic vampire hunter will find his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Blade is coming, he promises.
“We are committed to Blade,” Feige told Omelete (via IGN) during the D23 Brazil 2024 event. “We love the character. We love Mahershala’s take on him. And rest assured: whenever we change direction with a project, or are still figuring out how it fits into our schedule, we let the audience know. You’re all up to date on what’s happening. But I can tell you that the character will indeed make it to the MCU.”
Marvel originally announced its “Blade” movie with Ali in July 2019, but development has been rocky as several writers and directors have come and gone over the years.

Blade was recently removed from Marvel Studios' slate, but it sounds like the movie is still very much alive.

Recently, there has been a lot of negative news about the upcoming MCU Blade reboot. After months of problems and Yann Demange leaving as director, the film has now been taken off Disney’s 2025 release schedule.
This move was expected since it seemed very unlikely the movie could meet its November 2025 deadline. It still doesn’t have a filming date, a finished script, or a director.
Recent reports from industry insider Daniel Richtman say that the Blade movie has been changed again. He claims that filming is set to start in 2025 in the United Kingdom. The film will have a smaller budget and is expected to be very dark, rated R, as they are working on a new script.
This news is positive, especially since reports say Mahershala Ali is still involved with the project. This makes sense because insiders say he wants to turn Blade into his own version of Black Panther.

It seems that in recent months all news related to the upcoming MCU’s ‘Blade’ reboot has been negative. Following months of troubling news, and Demange leaving his position as the movie’s director the other shoe has finally dropped and the movie has been removed from Disney’s 2025 release slate.

Marvel’s troubled Blade movie has been pulled from the release calendar and is now said to be once again be going back to the start with a new script.
Although there are signs that Marvel Studios has arrested at least some of the rot that has plagued its Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the last few years, its ongoing attempt to get a Blade movie off the ground is a continuing (and very public) indicator of the studio’s continuing creative struggles.
When you consider that at the dawn of the MCU, much of the script for 2008’s Iron Man was changed on the fly, giving the film a natural charm and energy, we’re now very much at the other end of the spectrum with Marvel movies often feeling overwritten and formulaic.

Last night, we got the disappointing (though not entirely unexpected) news that Marvel Studios had once again removed the Blade reboot from its slate, with the movie now delayed indefinitely.
Blade has been plagued by production woes ever since it was first announced over four years ago, going through a number of directors and writers. When the latest filmmaker enlisted to helm the project, Yann Demange, stepped away, it was widely speculated that the movie would ultimately be shelved, but we were assured that it was still moving forward with Mahershala Ali attached to star as the Daywalker.
Despite this latest setback, The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez believes Blade has not been scrapped, and was pushed back again because Marvel is prioritizing Multiversal stories in the build-up to Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.
The real reason why #Blade isn’t getting done is because the story is disconnected from the rest of the Multiverse Saga.

Many things can go wrong during the development, production and post-production of a film. Sometimes, incidents sink the film, while other times, they are only hiccups on the road to success. Even classic films like Jaws and Titanic had once been delayed due to unforeseeable behind-the-scenes drama.
Recently, Blade was pulled from Marvel Studios' 2025 release schedule. The film has suffered from many changes in the past five years. From the change of directors to the hiring of writers, Blade eventually landed in a limbo state. However, many films have suffered from delays due to behind-the-scenes drama and came out just fine.

A new MCU rumor may have just revealed the fate of Mahershala Ali's Blade, as well as the current status of the Midnight Sons film. Although the vampire film has gone dark with yet another indefinite delay, that doesn't mean Ali's future as the superhero is over before it even begins. Blade's production hiccups have led Marvel Studios to reportedly consider shelving the solo film for now, and instead introducing the character in a bigger, supernatural-filled MCU crossover film.
According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, the indefinite delay for the Blade film now means that the long-rumored Mightnight Sons film is happening a lot sooner than originally speculated. With no director or a release date attached to Blade, Marvel is now prioritizing bringing the vampire hunter into the MCU fold via an alternative method with familiar characters. Marvel just made yet another big change to its slate. Is dropping Blade a bad sign?
2023 saw the once-invincible MCU finally hit an overdue road block. First, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania disappointed at the box office. Then, Jonathan Majors, who was set to become the new big bad of the franchise as Kang, was arrested on assault charges and soon fired. Then, the 2023 Hollywood strikes curtailed production while The Marvels flopped.

The original 1998 Blade was the first true Marvel hit movie. It adapted the cult character of a half-vampire hunting other vampires with Wesley Snipes in the title role. Thanks to a good script, great direction and Snipes’ performance,...

There's only ever gonna be one Blade!" in Marvel's mutant mash-up Deadpool & Wolverine this summer, it was hard to know whether to laugh or wince. After all, Marvel Studios has been trying — and struggling — to get their own Blade movie off the ground ever since announcing Mahershala Ali would be the McU's vampire hunter in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con way back in 2019. And now, following the departures of both director Bassam Tariq and his successor Yann Demange, it's starting to look like Snipes' zinger may well have heralded the final nail being driven into Blade's coffin.
Per Deadline's reporting, Marvel's Blade has lost its already pretty ambitious 7 November, 2025 release slot to Dan Trachtenberg's Predator: Badlands. And whilst this news doesn't come with any formal cancellation announcement for the movie, which was set to see...

We finally saw Blade appear in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film — it just wasn’t the Blade played by Mahershala Ali. The first appearance of Blade in the MCU came in “Deadpool & Wolverine” with Wesley Snipes reprising his iconic role.
And now Ali’s “Blade” has been delayed yet again, pulled from Disney’s 2025 release slate entirely. What a disaster.
Marvel chief Kevin Feige first announced a “Blade” reboot back in 2019 with Ali attached to star, and the character was even teased in the post-credits of 2021’s “Eternals,” a would-be franchise that now seems forgotten.
“Blade” has been through many starts and stops, with several writers and directors filtering through and with delays because of the writers strike and more. Through it all, the franchise’s original stars Wesley Snipes and Stephen Dorff haven’t refrained from talking about it.
“It’s not the actor’s fault,” Snipes said of Ali.

Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps are all heading our way next year and, up until today, so was Blade.
It's been pretty obvious for a while that it wouldn't arrive in theaters on November 7, 2025, especially as there was no mention of it at events like San Diego Comic-Con and D23 earlier this summer. Now, Disney has confirmed that by removing the Daywalker's solo outing from its release schedule.
As a result, the Blade reboot is undated and delayed indefinitely.
On the plus side, Dan Trachtenberg's Predator: Badlands has taken Blade's place next November. Disney has also dated three untitled Marvel Studios movies for February 18, 2028, May 5, 2028, and November 10, 2028.

Sorry, Blade fans, but it's going to be a while before you see Mahershala Ali trying to ice-skate uphill. Disney has just struck the upcoming superhero reboot with some more bad news.
Per Deadline, Marvel Studios has removed Blade from its upcoming release slate, effectively delaying the long-gestating reboot indefinitely. It was previously set to hit theaters on Nov. 7, 2025, as part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In its place, Disney has dated the 20th Century Fox movie, Predator: Badlands, the upcoming sixth mainline entry in the long-running sci-fi franchise.

The Daywalker will have to wait a bit longer to have his time in the sun.
Disney has removed the Marvel reboot of “Blade” — starring Mahershala Ali as the titular half-vampire — from the release calendar. It was dated for Nov. 7, 2025. Disney will instead release “Predator: Badlands,” the sixth film in the otherworldly franchise, on the early November release date that was held by “Blade.”
Meanwhile, Marvel added three untitled projects to the schedule for Feb. 18, 2028, May 5, 2028 and Nov. 10, 2028.
The comic book empire’s decision to take “Blade” off the docket was widely expected after Disney CEO Bob Iger’s stated in an earnings call on May 7 that Marvel will release “a maximum of three” movies a year. Of the four superhero films Disney previously had slated for 2025 — including “Captain America: Brave New World,” “Thunderbolts” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” — “Blade” is the only project that hadn’t started production.

Jeymes Samuel will not direct Blade for Marvel Studios. The Book of Clarence filmmaker has debunked a recent report claiming that he had met with Marvel about directing the upcoming superhero reboot.
"I dont know where these rumors start, but I am not in talks to do Blade with Marvel. I love me the Daywalker tho, I cannot wait to watch that joint," Samuel wrote on the social media platform X. Reports of the filmmaker being in line to direct Blade emerged at the end of September 2024. Whoever does end up signing on for Blade will become the third director attached to the long-gestating project, which was announced back at Marvel Studios' 2019 San Diego Comic-Con panel. Bassim Tariq and Yann Demange were previously attached to direct Blade at one point, but both departed over creative differences in September 2022 and June 2024, respectively.

Since Marvel Studios announced that it would be rebooting Blade during its 2019 San Diego Comic-Con panel, the film has been rife with problems. Intended to have been released by now, Blade has had to undergo massive script rewrites with at least five different writers taking their crack at the story, and two different directors having exited the project. While fans have started to wonder if this new iteration of the character would ever make more than an off-screen, voice-only appearance in the post-credit scene to Eternals, it appears the reboot may have a new director ready to tackle the project.

Marvel Studios' Blade reboot has finally received some good news. The hotly-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe project may be close to securing a new director.
According to World of Reel, Jeymes Samuel met with Marvel Studios about directing Blade, with the filmmaker reportedly impressing the comic book executives with his vision. Samuel has so far directed two features, the Netflix Western The Harder They Fall (2021) and the revisionist religious epic The Book of Clarence (2023). If Samuel does sign on to helm Blade, he will be the third director to become attached to the reboot after Bassim Tariq and Yann Demange.

Marvel Studios' Blade reboot has been plagued by production woes ever since it was first announced over four years ago, going through a number of directors and writers.
The project finally seemed to be back on track after a recent update claimed that shooting was set to commence this Fall, but we recently learned that director Yann Demange will no longer helm the movie.
These continuous setbacks have led to speculation that the project has been shelved, but we have been assured that it is still moving forward with Mahershala Ali attached to star as the Daywalker, and we're now hearing that Marvel may have settled on a new director.
According to The World of Reel's Jordan Ruimy, the studio recently met with several potential directors, and Jeymes Samuel "impressed the Marvel brass." He doesn't know if the filmmaker has officially entered talks, but believes there's a good chance he will ultimately land the gig.

Marvel’s troubled Blade reboot – which has been in limbo for years now – may finally have a script, a director and a shoot date.
While Marvel Studios is having a fair old crack at pulling itself out of the creative and commercial malaise that has set in over the last couple of years, one project that keeps dominating the headlines and reminding us of the studio’s rocky fortunes is Blade, the announced title that will feature Mahershala Ali as the MCU’s premier vampire hunter.
Blade’s path to production has been something of a mess, with the project already burning through two directors (Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange) and around six writers, including Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Beau DeMayo and Nic Pizzolatto. Getting that many writers to take a crack at a script isn’t that unusual, but having so much of this process played out...

Will we ever see the Daywalker on the big screen again? Well, unless Marvel and Disney plan to reinstate Wesley Snipes following his celebrated cameo in "Deadpool & Wolverine," it seems increasingly unlikely. Thus far, Marvel Studios' "Blade" movie has been about as cursed as they come, and if you haven't been keeping tabs, here's a quick rundown.
The movie was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, with Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali taking the stage to confirm he would star. Bassam Tariq was initially on board to direct, but things didn't quite work out. "Blade" replaced its director with "Lovecraft Country" and "White Boy Rick" filmmaker Yann Demange. Then, the seemingly cursed movie lost its director again, with Demange departing the film on what were reportedly amicable terms. This is, of course, to say nothing of the multiple writers attached to this movie throughout its troubled production. Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour,...

It does not look good for Armor Wars or Blade. After repeated delays, a new report claims that Marvel Studios is set to make a final decision on both Marvel Cinematic Universe movies soon.
According to trusted scooper Daniel Richtman (via The Direct), Marvel will decide the fate of these movies in the coming months, possibly before the end of 2024. Blade's journey back to the big screen has been nothing short of headache-inducing. The movie was first announced at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 when Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige introduced Mahershala Ali as the McU's Daywalker.
Stacy Osei-Kuffour was tapped to pen the screenplay in February 2021, with the idea being to wrap shooting by the end of that year. The start date was soon pushed back but Bassam Tariq came on board to direct shortly before Blade made a voice cameo in Eternals.
Additional delays followed and Tariq was replaced by filmmaker Yann Demange. Beau DeMayo and Michael Starrbury had both tackled the script by this point, with Nic Pizzolatto and Michael Green following them.
Various cast members left the movie as it continued to evolve and then, this past June, Demange stepped down as Eric Pearson signed up to polish the script.

“Game of Thrones” isn’t the only major franchise Kit Harington is unlikely to return to at the moment. In 2021, the actor made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Dane Whitman in “Eternals.” The character was a supporting role in the movie, but Harington was being positioned as a major new addition to the franchise. The post-credits scene for “Eternals” teased Dane becoming Black Knight in an upcoming “Blade” movie.
While “Eternals” ended with a note suggesting the characters would return in a sequel, the Chloe Zhao-directed tentpole was a box office disappointment with $402 million worldwide, well below Marvel’s standards. Marvel is reportedly not developing a sequel at this time. Meanwhile, the Mahershala Ali-starring “Blade” movie that Harington’s Black Knight was being teed up for has gone through multiple overhauls. Wesley Snipes returned in style to his Blade role in the recent MCU movie, Deadpool & Wolverine. It was the most surprising cameo of the film for a couple of reasons. Fans never thought Snipes would appear in a Ryan Reynolds movie after their alleged feud in Blade: Trinity. There's been very little in the way of good news, ever since Mahershala Ali walked on stage during Marvel Studios' 2019 San Diego Comic-Con panel to reveal to the world that he would be playing Blade in the MCU.
Since then, the project has undergone several script rewrites and seen several directors sign on and ultimately depart- along with a few of the film's cast.
However, in a new interview with BlackTreeTV, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige seemed confident that Blade would make its way to the big screen one day, confirming that like the Wesley Snipe films that preceded it, the McU's Blade will also be rated R.
Responding to a question about the film's rating, Feige stated, "For the last few years, we've been trying to crack that movie."
"I think the most important think for us, is not rushing it and making sure that we're making the right...

Marvel Studios' Blade recently lost its second director and is currently being rewritten (again). While some fans believe the hotly-anticipated reboot is cursed, Mia Goth who is attached to star in the movie doesn't think the project's production troubles are anything to worry about.
In an interview with Deadline at the world premiere of her latest movie MaXXXine, Goth opened up about the production difficulties plaguing the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe installment. "They really care, they do," said Goth about Marvel Studios. "They want to make a great movie. Thats the sense that I get from them and that feels good." Goth's comment comes roughly two weeks after it was reported that Yann Demange had exited Blade, making him the second director to depart the project after Bassim Tariq.

Marvel Studios' Blade recently lost a second director in Yann Demange, prompting a fresh round of speculation about why Kevin Feige and company simply can't get this long-awaited movie - first announced in 2019 - into theaters.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, both sides are to have grown frustrated with Blade's prolonged development process, with the Daywalker himself, Mahershala Ali, said to be "increasingly frustrated" with the situation.
The trade explains that he handpicked Demange after Bassam Tariq walked away from Blade in September 2022. At the time, the movie had been in pre-production and was gearing up to start shooting two months later.
Marvel Studios decided Tariq wasn't a good fit and, after presenting Ali with a list of possible directors, executives were surprised when the Oscar-winner "conducted his own search after having concerns that the list largely featured filmmakers who were untested at the big studio level."

Marvel Studios keeps trying to unsheathe Blade, but the vampire thriller is stuck in its scabbard. The latest setback occurred in recent weeks when the feature lost director Yann Demange, the second helmer to exit the project. Some sources say both sides grew frustrated by Blade’s prolonged development process.
Star Mahershala Ali is also said to be increasingly frustrated. Ali, who has been attached to the project since 2019, handpicked Demange after the project lost director Bassam Tariq in September 2022. At the time, Blade was in preproduction and about two months from principal photography, but Marvel came to believe that Tariq was not the best fit for the project, according to sources. Marvel then presented Ali with a list of directors for consideration, but Ali conducted his own search after having concerns that the list largely featured filmmakers who were untested at the big studio level.

“Blade” star Wesley Snipes has no time for the mess of the MCU.
Snipes posted on X about the upcoming remake being plagued by rewrites and an exodus of directors. The project was first announced in 2019 with Mahershala Ali taking on the lead role that Snipes previously played. The film is set for a November 7, 2025, and recently lost director Yann Demange while gaining new screenwriter Eric Pearson.
“Blade, lordylordylordy,” Snipes wrote. “Folks still lookin for the secret sauce, ridin snowmobiles in traffic, kinda rough. Daywalkers make it look easy, don’t they?”
Snipes starred as the titular character in the eponymous 1998 film. He returned for 2002’s “Blade II,” directed by Guillermo del Toro, and 2004’s “Blade: Trinity.”
The new “Blade” was first announced to be helmed by Bassam Tariq; he exited in September 2022, approximately two months before the film was set to begin filming. A Variety report in 2023 alleged that...
