Jordan Tanner (aka Jordan T. Smith, born June 14, 1982) is an American
songwriter, recording artist, and performer. Born and raised in Roanoke, VA,
Jordan attended the College of Charleston in South Carolina and earned
a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. In the summer of 2006, he played
guitar on tour for the Charleston-based band, The Working Title,
opening for such acts as The Fray, Counting Crows, and The Goo Goo
Dolls.
In late 2009, Austin-based indie filmmaker Brandon E. Marshall approached Jordan about playing the lead role in his upcoming film, "Distances," a music drama that would be Marshall's first feature-length film as well as Tanner's acting debut. They agreed to work together, and shooting began in February 2010, lasting for several months. Post-production on the film was completed August 2011.
Tanner has released one solo record, "All of the Night," with another on the way in late summer 2012. This new album, "Cold City EP," was produced by Rick Beato (Shinedown, Charlie Mars, Needtobreathe) and funded in part by a Kickstarter campaign. On both solo albums, Tanner sings and plays all the instruments.
In 2012, Jordan will be celebrating the release of his first feature-length film as well as his second solo record.
Jordan currently lives and performs in Austin, Texas. Tour dates to support the new record are TBA. Past notable tours include playing guitar for the Charleston-based band, The Working Title, opening for such acts as The Fray, Counting Crows, and The Goo Goo Dolls, as well as several regional solo tours.
