- Raised in Marin County, California, Stacy Thal studied film at the University of California, Berkeley. A combination of fate, good luck and youthful bravado landed her on the steps of Zoetrope Studios where she wrote her way into directing under Francis Coppola's mentorship. For Zoetrope, Thal started out by doctoring screenplays to ensure the presence of realistic, vibrant women characters, as well as provided script coverage for producer Fred Roos. Soon she wrote and developed a screenplay for Coppola's fledgling Commercial Pictures. Over the years, Thal has adapted books for the screen (including Richard Brautigan's In Watermelon Sugar) and written screenplays in several genres, including comedy, action, and suspense, for features and television. In the winter of 2011, Love on the Run was shot from an original screenplay she wrote along with author Jessica Anya Blau (Mary Jane, Shopgirl, The Unexpected Spy). Love on the Run was directed by the late Ash Christian (Fat Girls, Magnus!, Petunia).- IMDb mini biography by: Self
