Tom Cruise's Next Film by Alejandro Gonzlez Irritu Sets Filming Date
Image
Tom Cruise is about to be back in action in a mysterious new film set to begin shooting soon. The Mission Impossible actor recently signed a contract deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to star in and produce original and franchise films. While some believe the agreement points to a possible ending of the Mission Impossible franchise, the contract has also opened new doors for the world-famous actor.

The first Cruise film of the contract, produced and directed by Birdman's Alejandro Gonzlez Irritu, is set to begin filming in the U.K. as early as next month, according to Variety. Irritu co-wrote the script for the film in 2023 with the writers of Birdman, Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris, as well as screenwriter Sabina Berman. The upcoming Cruise-led film will be the first English language movie that the Mexican director has made since the 2015 drama The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, which...

‘Son Of A Critch’ Season 4 Begins Shooting For CBC
Image
Exclusive: Cameras are rolling on Son of a Critch season 4.

The Canadian comedy was renewed earlier this year for a new 13-part run at public broadcaster CBC and principal photography is now underway in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Based on comedian Mark Critch’s memoir of the same name, the fourth season will follow a 14-year-old Mark, who begins high school on the cusp of the 1990s and once again finds himself on the bottom rung.

The new season will premiere in winter this year on streamer CBC Gem and CBC TV in Canada. Lionsgate Television has rights outside of Canada, and The CW had the previous three seasons in the States. It was officially renewed in May.

“We’re thrilled to roll into the 90s with Mark as he finds his way in high school and are looking forward to sharing this exciting new season with audiences,” said creators,...

Barbie Gets Snubbed at BAFTAs, Casting Doubt on Potential Oscar Wins
Image
Barbie didn't have a spectacular night at the British Academy of Film and Awards, aka the BAFTAs, putting doubt on its chances to win any Academy Awards.

On Sunday, the 77th BAFTAs took place in London, and it came with a bit of a one-sided "Barbenheimer" rematch. Oppenheimer had the most nominations, as it was up for 13 awards, and it also took in the most wins, nabbing seven of those noms. It was a different story with Barbie, which had five separate nominations and did not pick up a single win. Like the Oscars, the film also failed to get nominations for Best Director for Greta Gerwig, though Margot Robbie nabbed a Best Actress nomination. Barbie was also excluded from the Best Film race.

"For this particular film too, it's so exciting. But more than that, because the picture means so much to me, and it took a number of years for gestation.
