Tom Brady Super Bowl Announcing Debut Features Kevin Hart Crack, Shots At NFL Referees
Image
In his Super Bowl broadcasting debut, Fox analyst Tom Brady showed a surprising willingness to critique NFL referees and also tried to give Patrick Mahomes advice for staging a comeback.

There had been a lot of buildup to Brady’s first Super Bowl outing after signing a reported $375 million contract with Fox, especially after the color analyst drew mixed reviews in a mistake-filled rookie year. The game quickly became lopsided, removing some of the scrutiny, with the Philadelphia Eagles leading the Kansas City Chiefs, 40-6, late in the fourth quarter.

“You’ve got to just inch your way back,” Brady said when the Chiefs were down by three scores. “There’s no 24-point play.”

Brady earned one of his record seven Super Bowl rings by engineering an historic comeback, leading the New England Patriots to a win after they trailed the Atlanta Falcons, 28-3, late in the third quarter.

Twitter Burns About Tom Brady’s Broadcasting Debut That Are Way Meaner Than the Jokes at His Netflix Roast
Image
This clip from Awful Announcing pretty well sums up how Tom Brady’s debut as a Fox NFL analyst went, with the Hall of Fame quarterback awkwardly holding out a fist that rules analyst Mike Pereira refuses to bump.

The Athletic summed up Brady’s first day on the job about as kindly as possible, calling him “a man learning the job in real time.” Brady was just okay, providing “perfectly fine commentary but nothing transformative that will educate a viewer on being a smarter football fan.”

Unfortunately for Brady, fans on Twitter/X weren’t nearly as diplomatic when describing his performance. Here’s how football fans at large responded to the Goat’s first game behind the mic:

The good news for Brady? If this broadcasting job doesn’t pan out, there’s likely a job waiting for him in Cleveland.

Tom Brady’s NFL Broadcast Debut Gets Very Mixed Reviews From Fans
Image
Tom Brady might have dominated the football field, but it could take a while for the seven-time Super Bowl champion to find his footing in the broadcast booth. Brady made his debut as Fox Sports’ lead color commentator alongside Kevin Burkhardt on Sunday, September 8, calling the action for the Dallas Cowboys vs. Cleveland Browns game at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland. However, the reaction to Brady’s commentary was mixed, to say the least. Some viewers complained that the former New England Patriots quarterback sometimes sounded awkward and clunky. That awkwardness was perhaps best encapsulated when Brady went to give a fist bump to Fox Sports rules analyst Mike Pereira and was left hanging. “Don’t leave me hanging,” Brady said before Pereira eventually noticed the gesture and returned the bump. Mike Pereira and Tom Brady’s first booth interaction could have gone a little smoother… pic.twitter.com/RmJYFF...
