The fan-voted awards show will be hosted by singer Tyla this year, live from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., starting at 8pm Et/Pt.

Dafne Keen's teen horror movie Whistle has just received an exciting update. Shudder has come on board to release the highly anticipated movie from The Nun director Corin Hardy in the United States.

Per Deadline, Shudder and Independent Film Company have acquired U.S. rights to Whistle, with a wide theatrical release planned for the horror movie. Nickelodeon just revealed that music star Tyla will host the event live on June 21 from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. The show will air live on Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, the Nick Jr. channel, MTV2 and CMT and Nickelodeon channels around the world at 8pm Et/Pt.

Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar lead the nominations this year with four mentions each. There are 35 categories in which fans can vote in, beginning on Thursday.

Musical performances for the live show will be announced at a later date.

Green goo and big stars are joining forces once again for the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which officially unveiled its host and nominees on Thursday.

Grammy-winning artist Tyla will take the reins as host when the show airs live on June 21 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.

The slime-filled spectacle will simulcast across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, Nick Jr., MTV2, and CMT, as well as international Nickelodeon channels, where fans can watch their favorite TV, movie and sports stars get covered in green glop.

This year’s nominees include a fresh batch of first-timers such as Gracie Abrams, Zach Bryan, Jordan Chiles, Frankie Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Doechii, Keith Lee, Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, Shohei Ohtani, and Florence Pugh.

Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar lead the nominations with four each, while Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson, and Jelly Roll follow close behind with three nods apiece.

Deadline reports Sam McCarthy (Dead to Me and Goosebumps: The Vanishing) will lead The Marshmallow Experiment as a sexually-frustrated teenager who unplugs from the internet after a disastrous sexual encounter with his dream girl. The teen is then guided on a journey of self-discovery by a talking gorilla, all while avoiding his influencer parents and rogue AI avatars.

Friends’ theme song may have been “I’ll Be There for You,” but the sitcom, more than 30 years after it premiered, has been there for several generations. One of the show’s stars, David Schwimmer, who can currently be seen in the new Hulu/Disney+ series, Goosebumps: The Vanishing, says that three decades later he still realizes how meaningful the show is to him and to the fans.

“What’s really meaningful to me is when I’ll bump into someone on the street and they’ll say, ‘I just want you to know, I was going through a really tough time, I was in the hospital,’ whatever. ‘And the thing that kept me going was watching Friends,” Schwimmer told GamesRadar+. David Schwimmer brought his own corny dad jokes for his botanist character in “Goosebumps: The Vanishing,” the second season of the Disney+ and Hulu series inspired by R.L. Stine’s iconic stories.

For example, the punny plant joke that makes his teenage kids on the show — Devin (Sam McCarthy) and Cece (Jayden Bartels) — wince the hardest is, “What plant should you watch out for? An ambush.”

Showrunner Rob Letterman told TheWrap in a recent interview, “He did a deep dive on, ‘Ok, botanist. Bad dad jokes. Bad dad plant jokes.'”

Fellow showrunner Hilary Winston added, “He sent us a list of these jokes. It was so cool.”

Although Goosebumps: The Vanishing doesn’t follow the story of season 1 directly, that doesn’t mean there are no potential links between the two outings. 2023’s Goosebumps TV adaptation changed the approach of the ‘90s TV show that first adapted author Rl Stine’s best-selling children’s horror series. Goosebumps is aimed at an older audience and, where the original ‘90s series adapted one standalone book per episode, the 2023 TV show instead merged the storylines of various Stine novels to make a single season-length storyline. This culminated with Goosebumps season 1’s cliffhanger ending.

Review: Growing up, I was slightly too old to enjoy Goosebumps. While I was graduating from Christopher Pike novels and R.L. Stine’s Fear Street series to the more mature novels of Stephen King, tons of kids entered the gateway horror of Stine’s fun brand of scary stories to tell in the dark. The anthology series was a hit with kids looking for a good scare, and the big-screen films starring Jack Black amped up the comedy for a big-budget adventure. Disney+ and Hulu’s reboot of the franchise was a successful, scary take on the source material back in 2023, and this year’s sophomore entry is equally good.

R.L. Stine, the author of the beloved “Goosebumps” series, praised the new installment, “Goosebumps: The Vanishing,” as being really scary and predicted that “people are going to love it.”

The series, which premiered Friday on Disney+ and Hulu, stars David Schwimmer as botanist Anthony Brewer, whose kids Devin (Sam McCarthy) and Cece (Jayden Bartels) come to visit for the summer. Stine’s monstrous creations once again took root on our television screens, this time manifesting as a dark, aged-up departure from the franchise’s sugary hued history. Combining classic Goosebumps lore with modern thrills and a grounded approach that allowed the heightened frights and characterizations to reclaim some of what made them so terrifying to young readers in the first place, the new show aimed to forge a fresh and frightening path to the franchise for newcomers and longtime acolytes alike.

With new season Goosebumps: The Vanishing, the show returns to screens once more. Staying ever true to its roots, Goosebumps: The Vanishing is an entirely new story of the grander anthology series that maintains the more mature and grounded tonalities that so strikingly differentiated the previous season from what had come before.

In 2023, Disney+ brought back R.L. Stine's groundbreaking 90s horror anthology Goosebumps to the TV screen, updating the iconic franchise for a new generation and audience. The first season introduced darker, more mature stories for older, teenage audiences, with updated settings, themes and stakes. Despite these changes, it still stayed true to its roots, from its supernatural elements, gratuitous body horror, and demonically-possessed dummies. Speaking to The Direct, producer Rob Letterman said that Isaiah, Margot, James, Isabella, Lucas, and Mr. Nathan Bratt could return at some point. "If I say we will never go back, then that'll probably trigger the opposite thing," he explained. "I really don't know about anything. Yeah, you never say never for stuff like that. You know, anything's possible. And one of the great things about Goosebumps is, you know, R.L Stein did circle back a few times to a couple things [like] Slappy for instance."

The showrunners of the 2023 Goosebumps reboot series recently explained their decision to not resolve season one's cliffhanger ending. The second season, titled Goosebumps: The Vanishing, is set to premiere on Jan. 10.

Speaking with ScreenRant, Goosebumps co-creator Rob Letterman and showrunner Hilary Winston discussed the show's upcoming second season, which will be presented as an anthology rather than following up after the events of the first season. Letterman and Winston referred back to R.L. Stine's source material, citing that the Goosebumps book series often ends with a similar approach. "It's a thinking, and it's sort of our justification of why it works. I think, ultimately, that's how the books tend to end, where it opens a big door and a big twist, and it's kind of what we love about the material," Letterman said.

The Disney+ anthology series is inspired by the children's book series of the same name by R. L. Stine and tells a different family-friendly horror story every season. The upcoming Goosebumps season 2, which is subtitled The Vanishing and follows teenage siblings who uncover a dangerous secret hidden in their new home, boasts a brand-new ensemble cast that includes Schwimmer, Ana Ortiz, Sam McCarthy, Jayden Bartels, Elijah M. Cooper, Galilea La Salvia, and Francesca Noel.

ScreenRant had the opportunity to interview Goosebumps showrunner Hilary Winston, co-creator Rob Letterman, and star David Scwhimmer ahead of the new season. Letterman and Winston revealed that they were already thinking of going with a comedy star for the role because "comedy and horror are so linked," but casting the Friends alumnus felt like a long shot.

In the same The Hollywood Reporter interview where he revealed that Netflix is developing three more Fear Street movies, author R.L. Stine also spent some time hyping up another streaming adaptation of his work: Goosebumps: The Vanishing. The second season of the new Goosebumps TV series, Goosebumps: The Vanishing is set to make its premiere on January 10th on Disney+ and Hulu – and Stine described this as an “elevated” Goosebumps that’s more terrifying than the source material.

The first season of Goosebumps centered on a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle — while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past. The show is taking the anthology route, so we can expect a second season that has “an entirely new cast and setting based on Stine’s iconic Scholastic book series.

Goosebumps: The Vanishing promises to include more than a few scares when Season 2 of the anthology series premieres on Disney+. However, David Schwimmer, who will lead an all-new cast, recently revealed that his biggest fear comes from real life.

"What gives me goosebumps in real life, not watching a movie or something, is when you are looking for your car at night in an underground parking lot, and you suddenly have that moment of, 'I don't know where my car is, and I'm utterly alone in this parking lot,'" Schwimmer told GamesRadar+. "I hope I'm not the only person who's experienced that. But then you hear some sound, but you don't know where it came from, and then you're just like, 'Oh, Ok; I hope I find my car.'"

Season 2 of Goosebumps will feature an entirely new set of characters and stories, separate from Season 1, that will pull from some of the franchise's most iconic original books, including Stay Out of the Basement, The Haunted Car, Monster Blood, The Girl Who Cried Monster, The Ghost Next Door, and Welcome to Camp Nightmare.
